Hey can you help me out? I bricked my LG Volt by accidentally flashing another phones laf.img now the phones screen wont turn on but i can get into download mode but that's all(lg flash tool gives error when ran also). I have a way to fix my phone if i could get fastboot. Can you help me figure this out? I really appreciate it man.

What error are you getting from the flash tool? I'm not sure how you would get into fastboot without being able to boot the phone to delete laf.

When I first open the flash tool I get "Milky Way Connection Failed" then i click ok and get "please check milky way equipment status!" then click ok. select manual, choose dll and tot files, board dl, usb, then i click ok. Click the yellow arrow and I get "milky way control port open fail!!!" then click ok. then once the check is done it shows all the ports as ready(weird i know). Unplug phone and replug it and this is what i get.....

I've sucessfully installed the deodexed zv5 rom but now i cant seem to change my system font through system settings. Can someone please help? I'm trying to change to the Roboto font instead of the default SmartGothic.

I did a Factory data reset

(found under Menu > System settings > Backup & Reset > Factory data reset)

and afterwards was able to change the Font type!

The Factory data reset probably should be added to the steps as the final item - before the phone is finally ready to use.
 
The MSL number stands from Master Service Lock and You need it to make programming changes to your like data information or changing your MDN nd MSID numbers.

I don't know what that Milky Way Connection stuff is, I've never seen it before. The rest looks like it's not finding the phone. Did you set the COM port as described in step 2?

I honestly think I can't recover from this because I don't have my LG Volt laf.img, I have someone elses. Also I can't get into fastboot anymore only download mode. Even the flash tool won't restore the phone): I am honestly at my wits end as to how to fix it anyone please HELP ME!!! PLEASE

Are you sure you are in download mode and not fastboot? In download mode the screen should look like the screenshot shown in the first post. In fastboot mode, you should see some text in the upper part of your screen, with something like "fastboot processing commands" near the end of that text.

Normally to get into fastboot on the Volt we have to wipe the laf partition. When you do that, it disables access to download mode and enables access to fastboot instead. If your phone has a bad laf partition, you might be able to get into fastboot but not download mode.
 
Can someone explain why the zv3 will not update to zv4 or zv5 after downgrading to zv3/rooting? The update will download and pop up in the notifications thing, the phone will reboot and act like it's installing, but then it just goes back into zv3.

I understand that I would have to update manually from zv3 to zv5, but is that something I can do without losing all my data again?
 
So I'm going to be buying myself a new Volt tomorrow. Can I just use towelroot? Or is there anyway to root without using a computer, as mine is broken atm.

IF you get luck enough to get one with zv3 on it, yes, towelroot will work. Otherwise you will have to downgrade to zv3, root, then reupgrade, which requires a computer.

You can install zv5 without wiping, but there seem to be some small buggy things that you need to do a factory reset to fix. This is why it's best to just go all the way through in one shot. You can always backup your data first.

I'm pretty sure he's in download mode. If you look back through his posts, he's done some stuff to his phone and gotten it pretty messed up. Someone has flashed laf from a different phone, so he shouldn't be booting into fastboot at this point, but I don't know what issues having the wrong laf would cause.
