Root Help Rooting LG Stylo 2

With only you two so far attempting this, please, don't give up, backtrack, start over & create ADB on your computer, unzipping the .tar files contents into it. Make sure you have admin on your cmd screen (control + shift before clicking to open command screen), and it will (see text copy from my CMD screen) execute the dirtycow Xploit.

recreated adb folder, running cmd as admin, all lower case commands, etc etc, triple checked everything. still reboots after issuing "/data/local/tmp/dirtycows /system/bin/run-as /data/local/tmp/cow-execute" (without quotes). tried 4 times this morning. im about to give up on this phone and switch to samsung j7.
 
For those trying to install the recovery on temp root or perm root, achieve whatever root you seek, download Flashify.apk v1.9.2, open it when you get temp or full root and select recovery, and then choose a file, find your recovery and install it, click reboot and you will be at twrp

This may be usefull for zv4, zv5, and zv6

I have the virgin mobile variant of the stylo 2 running zv3
 
It works for me. I tried flashing supersu v1.78.zip, it had a bunch of errors and said successful but didnt change a thing. Im flashing a beta zip to see if it will work.
 
Well ive came to the conclusion that i will need a different twrp.img. The one im using doesnt mount alot of things.

With the cricket k540 variant drammer shows 0 flips which doesnt mean its not vulnerable buts its not likely. With the k540 you cant boot into recovery or use fastboot. Only thing accessible is download mode. They really locked up this bootloader like no other.

I can boot to recovery, but I just get the dead android. No functionality.
 
Is the lg g stylo 2 zv3 like the zv3 used in the og stylo? if it is you could look at some of the rooting guides for it since root was possible up to zv4 or 5 i cant remember. i had to send my lg stylo to lg and they forced the marshmallow update hindering my device un-rootable. but heres a link if someone wants to try it assuming it is same rom.

Edit......i feel dumb about now i was on page 2 when i wrote this and didnt realize was 24 pages full of stuff. im also sure its been tried as this topic is now getting older. i havent gotten the lg g stylo 2 yet still waiting on my og stylo to die first.

I'm on ZV5 and I get the infamous sh error - everything (seems to) works fine up until run-as -exec sh

any ideas?

Is it likely if we get to the custom rom stage will a) Boost Stylo 2 LS775 get one and b) said custom rom will bring back the phones 2945#*xxx# method to get to hidden menu? I think Boost/Sprint disabled it so only they can sim unlock them remotely...

More than likely there will be a custom ROM starting with cm13. At least that's what I'm aiming to work on. But I need a recovery. I think the hidden menu may be back idk. But getting a stable recovery will bring in the devs who are ROM building smart. I'm willing to test recoveries. My Favorite recovery is Philz. But that my opinion and theory on Roms and such
