I finally got round to playing with the package manager, but I was unable to uninstall much of anything, just got errors. I was able to disable some stuff, but I'm waiting to show what I found until I know I didn't break anything.

How is the update? Can you put the phone into fastboot now with: adb reboot bootloader?

You can disable system apps but to uninstall them you'd need full root access as system apps are stored under /system/app/* under the filesystem. Disabling the wrong system package will soft brick you until you factory reset so be careful.

Can u try something get into recovery and then see if can get it into boot loader if it reboots then no boot loader yet

Rats, I was hoping the exploit would be enough to uninstall. Don't worry, I have a short list of bloat apps that I'm trying to disable, and I know the basics of what not to get rid of.
