Help HOW TO: Reverting Back to 2.1

i used win7 64 bit with no trouble....where are people running into trouble on 64-bit machines? Be sure to install the correct drivers.

Did you read any posts above mine? 2 or 3 on this page of the thread alone have had issues w/ Win7 64...

Yeah I've seen quite a few people with the 64bit Win 7 machines have problems... I saw one person had luck with renaming the sbf file so I'm gonna give that a shot this weekend and see what happens. I dont see how it would make any difference though

ok so this is odd... I renamed the file to dx.sbf and still nothing shows up in the file properties box BUT the start button isnt greyed out anymore! wtf does that mean? lol

Thanks guys went back to 2.1 last night. Downloaded the bomb from rootzwiki and followed the steps. No issues whatsoever thank goodness.

so where can we aquire downgrade.zip please PM if you have info.

I have "The bomb" But it doesnt do anything.

the bomb contains everything you need. you have to download winrar (its free) and open the bomb file using winrar. it will then open up to all the files you need.

Or you could google the term I posted and click "I'm feeling Lucky"... hey, maybe you'll just get lucky ;)

I get a Failed Flashing progress (0x7100) error when I hit start.

I've put the sbf file in every directory I could think of to try it, root of C:, under My Documents, etc... and all get the same error.

One thing to note is that originally when I went to select the sbf file in RSD it was not visible. I had to edit the file name and put an ".sbf" on the end of it, then I could recognize it in RSD and load it.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit, all the drivers are installed.

You shouldn't have to do that. That could be your problem. Like I said, some computers just don't work with it, I'm not sure why.

Make sure you moved the pst_flash.ini file to the RSD Directory and you run the RSD App as an Administrator.

So has anyone figured out how to get this to work with windows 7 64 bit? I tried asl this a couple times never got it to work. Also I do not have any other computer to use. Not really worried to much till official comes out. I think the leak was the best thing for my dx improved the phone 110%. Any how thanks in advance just wanted to figure this out before this thread was completely buried and before everyone starts posting when 2.2 does finally get released.

So it will never get lost in the shuffle.

As for working on Win 7 64 bit, I still have no answer. I renamed the file (not the sbf part, just changed it to say dx.sbf) and now the start button isnt greyed out when I select the file but the file information still doesnt show in the top right box. I havnt tried to flash it yet though using it this way because I'm running a good 2.2 right now. When the OTA gets pushed out I'll wait to make sure it can be rooted and deodexed then try to flash on my Win 7 computer... If it doesnt work I'm glad I have a fallback that I know works. Hopefully the OTA will come soon and root/deodexing will be confirmed quickly and I will have a better answer for you.

Hope someone can help me. I downgraded to 2.1 from 2.2 and everything seemed to work exactly as described. However, when I activated the phone it seems to hang up at that point. I received the message that activation was successful, but I cannot progress past the "Welcome to DroidX" screen. Have I forgotten to do something?
Thank you so much.

My phone isn't (or maybe I should be using past tense now) rooted.
I used the instructions at the beginning of this post (HOW TO: Reverting Back to 2.1) using the .sbf file and rsdlite.
Thank you.

Thank you for responding. I have, many times. And I have removed the battery and tired again with the same results.

I'm trying to picture the screen your talking about... you got to the screen that had you call to activate your phone right? like an automated message that said your phone has now been activated?

can you do the flashing by sbf file method on a non-rooted phone?
Thanks.

yes rooted or not rooted, doesnt matter

Yes, exactly. I get the automated reply that the phone is activated, but that's is far as it goes. If I turn the phone off and back on it's back to the point of activating the phone again.

Thats one im not familiar with. Every time I've flashed, after activating the phone its worked perfectly for me... You could always try to flash it again incase there was something that didnt go perfectly right during the flash. First time I flashed I had to do it 3 times till it worked lol
