Honestly, them cutting us off for rooting our phones is not going to happen. That isn't the issue here at all, and nobody is saying it is. If Apple can't do anything about it, neither can Verizon. Once someone finds a scrap of evidence in any of Verizons literature stating that rooting their devices will be punishable by termination of service, then we'll start talking about that.
Right now the only issue is that they're going to start monitoring those of use who are rooted and tethering internet services illegally. This is the only thing being mentioned right now. Well, that and they might actually start denying claims made on insurance by those who are rooted. Neither of those issues should effect anyone who's being responsible with their rooted devices.
A rooted device alone is no reason to be alarmed about.
