Root [Kernel][GB] KoumaKernel 2.5

Running KK 2.2 OC and CTmod 3.3 with the 3d visual tweak. Overclocked to 900 Mhz and just ran a benchmark test it actually went down from the last two test about 200 points but that doesnt mean anything in my eyes. with OC lag is not really there anymore, for instance when you hit the home button when using an app it used to hang for a second or two, then go home, but now theres no wait on it. scrolling is smoother, even my signal strength is up :) thanks Kouma for the awesome kernal!

This is interesting. I installed the oc kernel and had it set to max at 900. When I tried to play Plants Vs. Zombies with that setup the game would crash and go back to my homescreen. As soon as I set the cpu to 800 max the game works again. Probably more of a problem with the game than the kernel. Just thought it was interesting.

Try opening voltage control and changing the io sched to noop

Try opening voltage control and changing the io sched to noop

I was wondering if that might help but didn't try it out before. I did now and the problem still happens. Unless I need to reboot the phone or something at least. I'll have to look into it later because it's almost time to pick up my nephew from school.

im having trouble installing the kk2.2 OC with ssm when it boots up it keeps freezing on me or rebooting almost to the pt where i cant download antutu cpu master and the es file explorer to edit that file...
how did you guys do it
when i was able to get it going i set it at 800mhz
so now i know this wont work on my phone at 900 or 800 mhz am i doing something wrong

ok that line in the koumamod file that we have to edit is thowing me off..i just cant seem to get the ssm to activate even with webiker's instructions..is there a special way we do it now

Ok , if you have activated the SSM on CTMod and KK 2.1 and then install 2.2 . All you should need to do is change the the script in the koumamaod folder to activate the SSM then reboot . Your card is already partitioned correctly if you used ADB while on KK 2.1 and does not need to be repartitioned .Make sure that you clear the Dalvik cache . I had to do that in order for it to work .

Also , I always use Root Explorer to modify the script . Make sure that the Mount R/W- R/O is on the right setting or the changes you've made will not stick .

For anyone having trouble getting to the Koumamod file with root explorer or the like after you flash the kernel, you can also edit the file before you flash it before you put it on the SDcard. At least that's what I did.

Not sure if I did all the suggestions correctly but tried to follow them best I could and here is my results.

Hope this helps. I set my kouma file to SD ext in the editor and rebooted.. loaded the atutu CPU overclocking utility to Max 900 MHz and lowest min setting for around 98 because for some reason it wouldn't let me go lower... I also set in advanced to noop and no other changes besides checking the on boot box.. after that I rebooted again... ran the benchmark... seems ok ATM.. I haven't tried any games yet...

Setup was CT mod v3.3 kouma kernel 2.2 OC baseband EJ06

Thanks

any special install instructions for the OC kernal? i finally got everthing back the way it is and dont want to muck it up any help is apprecitated and thanks and thanks in advance

Maybe you should read... flash the oc zip with cwm.. use root explorer and go to system/ kouma file and remove the # before the script of your choice and save which is back button usually... now reboot phone..

Download atutut CPU app to over clock... details are all over these thread pages..

Although some people are having issues with their phones.
Maybe something to do with hw revisions.. not sure though

I'm using Voltage Control to set the CPU. So far it's running like a champ.

For those of you running the oc kernel, make sure that your minimum is set to 98MHz . That will help you conserve your battery.

As far as modifying Koumamod, I use ES File Explorer. Go to settings, enable browse as root, then enable mount \system as writable. Exit settings.
Long press on Favorites to switch to \
Choose system folder.
Koumamod is at bottom.
Open as text
Remove # from in front of setprop mount \data
OR
Remove # from in front of setprop mount Ssm
Press menu and hit save
Back out and go to settings again.
Disable mount \system as writable
Exit
Reboot

Note, this will effectively data reset so either save first or do it first

On a side note how do I post screen shots on here?
Using KK 2.2 with the over clock best of both worlds!!!

I have to agree.. I am not having any problems with these settings as well... I still want to do some more stress tests... but atm, I have not had my prevail reboot once whilst stressing...

if i was to flash 2.2+ will it reset everything? i went from 2.1 to 2.2 and it reset everthing and had to reinstall my apps which i use titanium and if there is a different and quicker way to reinstall apps how?

When I flashed the KK 2.2 over 2.1 , I lost all my apps or so I thought . I did a factory reset and they all came back . Not saying that it will work for you but it worked for me .

So far , I have been running the KK 2.2 OC with the SSM all morning and it is working flawlessly . I haven't had an issue one . :D

hey wet also can i switch back and forth from ssm to data or whatever and will that change anythig? the other one is also i couldn't turn off ssm in 2.1 and now when in system and the mod to switch i had to do it with r/o instead of r/w and thats how i got it to work

That's correct . One setting is READ-ONLY and the other setting is READ/WRITE . It has to be set correctly in order for the changes to stick .

As for the other question , you will lose your apps when you change the settings . The SSM and the data2ext run 2 different sd card partition types . If you go from SSM to data , you need to go in to CWM and reformat your card accordingly . If you change back to the SSM , you will need to go back to adb and do the same . Make sure that you save either a CWM backup or a Titanium backup so you can restore your apps . You can either flash the sd-ext of the CWM back up or just restore a Titanium backup . ;)

when i went from 2.1 to 2.2 on 2.1 i was in ssm then when i went to 2.2 it put me on data and i didn't repartition and is working fine with 100 or so apps at 764mb used and 1.1 gb free now if i go back to ssm i should or need to repartition?

No , your card has already been partitioned for the SSM and it should stay that way until you partition it again . When you partition the card for the SSM you make 3 partitions . One for the ext , data/dalvik and then the FAT . When you run the data2ext , you only need 2 partitions . Even though it worked when you changed kernels , you should still have 1 unused partition .

I'm pretty sure that's how it works .

oh okay so if i already partitioned for ssm then went to data will work and if i go back to ssm should still work because already partitioned. yes or no?
