Root [Kernel]{ZVD}Speed, Speed_Unlshd & Stock/Root Kernel(s)

But wasn't that meant for ZVB? Idk someone here told me isnt a good idea to mess with other kernels beside ZVD... IM KINDA SCARED LOL

you can use them, i appologize for sturring up all that hype about the zvd stuff, but people were having trouble understanding why they had all these issues when using prior release files on a zvd system (before we had a zvd rom) lol its not that it dont work, some users say they work awesome.. but then some have issues and some things dont work the way they are supposed to.. so i RECCOMEND sticking with zvd stuff if your on zvd..

and about the kernels.. i do plan on learning how to really tweak them just dunno how yet.. lol so if no one else releases a kernel soon than i will do what i can about getting an OC kernel for zvd'ers

i couldn't have said that better myself.. i am very dissapointed with metro and lg.. but not because of hardware choices but software lol im starting to really like this esteem, honestly its a great phone when used to its full potential :D

im upset with metro mainly for all the BS loaded up on stock.. i understand a few apps here and there but holy sh*t man.. one app is literally an internet ADD, thats rediculous.. lol

im upset with lg because the phone is capable of so much more.. some things about the rom builds are just stupid.. (LG specific features) and there should be more to it!! i mean yeah an hdmi is great but cmon keep the cam button like the revo, give it a better proccessor get together with samsung to see how the hell they have a better display lol

most htc devices blow away competitors because of features and capability, but the phones themselves bog down from all the sense crap running in background.. so i mean wtf?? why cant we have the best of both worlds?? is it really that hard??

anyway, your issue with the kernel? lol wat the hell is going on with it? are you zvd rooted completely and running zvd rom blah blah blah?? (sorry if i asked you already there a million things goin thru my mind right now..)

You sound like you're about to jump of a cliff. Don't do it! I love my Esteem and there's a good cast of devs, themers, and contributors in different ways.

Anyways, if you're unhappy, I would downgrade to ZVB and use either plague or homeless. The source choose for ZVD hasn't been released yet so this is the best we've got for now.

For me, I just can't stand the slide up top unlock so I'm ZVB until then. Search downgrade ZVB by biggie if interested.

Lol. This reminds me if that poll thread that asks what your favorite app for the Esteem is and some guy said "you forgot MyExtras!" Lol.

ldrifta, if you want the camera button for taking pictures, I recommend Pro Zoom Camera 5X. It has an option to use your volume button as a camera button in app. I too like dedicated camera button, so this is the best next option. I'm sure other camera apps have this option as well. You still have to open your camera app the old fashioned way.

nahh i could actually give a crap less about the button lol i just dont understand the point of removing it.. why??

kinda like when ps3 original 80g had the sd card reader and 4 usb's then they decided hey lets be cheap and less cool by removing that forever in any future releases of ps3.. i mean cmon really?? wtf?? lol

no the speed kernel only has minfree tweaks :D minfree is the android stock internal task killer, they are a set of numbers that represent how much ram is allowed for a specific use ie: background apps, or hidden apps..

the stock settings are a higher value which means the systems lets more things happen in the background before it starts to cleanup after itself

by lowering these values it forces the android system to keep More Ram available at all times so you will notice windows opening faster and a smoother swappiness with your screen and overall reactiveness will be greater

this is a safe common tweak most developers use for custom roms, there's no scripts re-writing any functions of the rom its just a simple value change..

i've unplugged my phone about 40 minutes ago and been playing around here and there and my battery is still at 100% lol so it stops unneeded background proccesses as well at a safe rate

What's the best way to install this Kernel? LD-ZVD Speed Kernel. flash first or open CWM and install from SD Card?
