I have seen you make up your mind exactly three times in all the while I've known you.

You have to promise that you'll warn me in advance. :D

I'll get the bagels. ;) :)

You know, this AI model, 58, is quite advanced.

The are some bugs here and there, but in general I do admire the developers efforts :D

If I really like my phone, then my phone is the BEST phone and your phone sucks!! Phones are very territorial. ( Maybe Samsung can bring out a doggy squirt phone!!)

Why can't my phone be great ( for me) and your phone be great for you? When I described why I left the 5S on that forum, I was doused in gasoline and set on fire. I think it is hysterical!!

Laptopmag has a review as well and noted the two hour less battery life for web use. The common trend appears to be that battery tests that were heavy on video are much better results for the G3 than web and apps. We can cherry pick all we want, but the more weight the tests are on local video, the more on par with current devices the g3 appears.

It is when you weigh/test heavier with app and web use the battery life takes the hit. Actual users of the device are reporting this as well, but still folks push back. Light to medium users should of course have great battery life based on the throttle techniques LG stated they use.

LG G3 (Unlocked) Review - QHD Display Android Smartphone

Here is another site known for doing practical usage tests rather than weight heavy with a lame local video test. The margin stays consistent with other reviews. The Qhd display has a battery and performance cost. Still seems that non heavy users should love the device, none the less. He pointed out the real world experience in spite of the performance hit. Point still is the battery life, so a definite candidate for a spare battery approach, or a mega chunga extended battery with cover.

Will be interesting to see if changing the build.prop to 1080p will help for gpu function. All depends on how the 801 and display gets along with such a mod. Could help a lot for gpu use, or make zero difference. Nook HD and some other tablets it helps a lot, but the chips worked well with modding.

Several more weeks to see, unless an owner at XDA tests first to get an indication.

Yeah, I think if you look back, I've been pretty consistent when asked, sound was VERY high on my list.

I really liked the G2. I was naturally intrigued with the G3. Still am.

I like seeing great models with real differences between them. Real people have really different needs.

The day that Android stops being all about personal choice is going to be the day it dies.

You forgot to mention being a HTC diehard for quite some time.

Hmmmm. I could get a used Note 3 for half the cost of a G3.

+Better battery life and performance

+No on screen nav bar (a lot of apps do not like Kitkat immersive mode- especially emulators and browsers).

+Easy to root for now, with Towelroot.

-Even bigger. This one deserves a repeat:

-Even bigger

Meh, if the S5 was offered in a 32GB version..... Perhaps the S5 Prime...... Assuming releases here, has a 32GB version and not similar battery issues due to the IMO pointlessly high res for a small display. Is the 805 20nm? If not, probably more throttle trickery. Display power too.

Again, "curse" the market need for differentiation due to the generally shallow perspective of consumers :)

Added:

I mean "curse" in warm, fuzzy, touchy feely way :) Not in the evil way normally expected.

Call me crazy, but 6 hours of straight use at 100% volume and brightness is probably more than sufficient for the needs of most. Especially with the fact that the battery is swapable, and it seems to bump charge extremely fast.

My battery fears are largely subsided. Now if only the brightness issue wasn't nagging at me.

LG G3 has better battery, ;)

You could hide the nav bar with any apps, you can go in settings and hide.

G3 is easier to root.

About same sizes screen in a smaller body!

Feels Better, 3gb/32gb.

😊

So every other reviewer lied about the screen being great? Just curious.
In G3 thread where people have the phone, some of them have those issues and they said it was mostly a defective phone and not quite the same as other were experiencing.

I think others reported low contrast and not so great brightness too though it was said fine for outdoor visibility. But outdoor color issue (red, green) she's reporting is quite concerning if true.

yes, I've seen it too.

Which means LG has some quality control issues.

Which means one needs to be quite careful when picking up the phone and have a full 14 days window to replace/return it.

They are initially mass producing those screen, after all its a initial batch, so there are bound to get some issues first, we just need to wait. Not to be hasty, this is a new 2k Era. Hoping that the us variants get it together

How a better battery?

Though a little bigger display, 1080p

Same 28nm tech chip tech 800/801

At least two hours better battery life based on medium to heavy use for reviews and users (so far).

Plus:

Better performance with the Note 3.

Immersive mode does not work well with all apps and is problematic for some (such as emulators and some games). Also, not all apps use the function.

Root is as simple as running an apk right now for the Note 3. Maybe too simple....

I would respectfully counter that a 1080p G3 would be better :)

No contest though on size. The extra .2" diagonal comes at an even bigger size. The G2 is already too big for one hand use for a lot of folks. NBA players are about the only folks that can one hand a Note 3 ;)

Oh yeah, here is an article getting some G3 fans rowdy: Kind of ironic too. In one point the display is too dim and another it is too bright. Camera point is silly, IMO.

Outdoor colors don't bother me though.

low contrast and brightness do.

My i6000 1080 display was gorgeous btw.

Better battery but different battery performance...

But it has smaller display and more res, booom!

801 is not quite the same as 800, sure same nm but quite a improvement.

Better performance, I still wouldn't know if I have my us variant on my hand period.

Mostly all my apps works with nav hide option.

Instead of 1080p, 2k with 805 or 808 or 810 would be better, we can't go back to 1080. Because eventually that display will be so minimal to the chip's performance that there will be fps that will be not needed. Therefore 2k will emerge and there will be chips to go along with it.

You forgot to mention being a HTC diehard for quite some time.

Personally pleased but diehard isn't quite accurate.

The last six phones I've recommended successfully to family and friends were either Motorolas or Samsungs - get the right tool for the job and Android wins.

I was genuinely interested in the G3. Had it been out before I stopped to think about what I really wanted, I'd have already bought one and be singing its praises.

It was the 805 discussion brought up by others here that made me rethink the G3, leading me to want to wait for the HTC Prime/Plus - and eventually waking up and realizing that all I really wanted was my old phone with BoomSound.

Thanks to KitKat, I've already lost some features (thanks for borking zoom text reflow in the WebKit, Google  ) but I was going to face all that regardless.

So anyway, I'm now a huge knock knock fan (wake up my M8 with it ftw). :)

My thoughts exactly.
No pre-ordering,will take a look at demo in-store AND a thorough once-over w/the unit I purchase before leaving the store, especially w/1st batch units....

@Early

Have you tried Viper4 on the M8? I'm not sure what you guys have for audio enhancement but that mod is outstanding, especially for earbud use. I'm sure it would be for the external speaker as well but I've never had one good enough to utilize it.

The dark side of the LG G3: 5 mighty annoying features
That one cut right to the heart. Very sad
