I prefer turkey bacon now, so would be shunned from the festival :o

Anyone notice in Europe it is nigh impossible to find crispy bacon that we are "classically" used to in the states? Why is that? We get friends and relatives from England and they prefer our bacon. Ditto for staff from Europe that eat in our cafeteria.

Nope... all are welcome;) Even without pig, there's still music and beer:D

The trick to awesome bacon at home is to bake it!!

Attention photo lovers -

The same XDA dev that provided the famous root camera app for the G2 - Jishnu Sur - has ported changes to the M8.

Then someone pointed out that the M8 (and G2) now have a raw camera. That's right, kiss jpg goodbye if you want to, thanks to defcomg.

So, someone pointed that out to Jishnu so he's decided to roll the raw feature into his enhanced app for the M8.

Obvious to me what G3 rooters are going to have to look forward to. :)

I've never seen a turkey w/a pork belly.

Just what kind of genetic monstrosities are y'all creating in your neck of the woods? :s: :eating:

I've encountered this genetic monstrosity, my wife doesn't eat beef or pork:eek:

While not in the same league as bacon... it's not horrible:p

Agree on everything in your post but the battery step up.

The 64-bit chips feature a LOT more transistors, by design and necessity.

There going to draw significantly more power because TANSTAAFL.

Going down to 20 nm will help offset that. (Fwiw, Anandtech agrees.)

Some instruction groups may condense with 64-bit op codes and that may provide further offset to power draw if true.

With luck the offsets will work to provide equivalent power draw to what we have today with 32-bit 28 nm chips.

If we win the lottery, we'll see an actual battery improvement.

I predict countless pre-release battery reviews for the new 64-bit SoCs proving that the lottery will have been won.

I also predict that the iCamp will scream, hahaha we had 64-bit first!

Agreed that at full load and for medium to heavier users, but lighter users should see some battery gains..... Unless the display tech has not improved power resistance and are Qhd. That would offset it...... That probably is happening. Darn spec chasers. Why keep up with the Jones if the Jones are wrong? :)

Whoa!

Pretty obvious that you *really* love your wife.

Good on ya!

I'd take a bullet for her :)

Starting to see more mention of an artificial sharpening effect with the display that impacts image quality. I wonder if this is really sharpening, or really poor scaling interpolation. If so, that would not be good news for setting the build.prop to 1080p.

Referring to the display and not taking pictures.

Reviews are kind of all over the place as far as display and battery. Key standouts to me after people have used the device a few days and reviews that test actual heavy use:

1. There is an over-sharpness that results in halo effects and other visual issues. I suggest this part of the power savings effort and perhaps the gpu/display in combination does a poor job at scaling.

2. Reviewers I trust have clearly stated the display gets hot and battery life is about two hours less than the G2 and similar devices (which frankly makes complete sense).

Still seems that with a 28nm chip and Qhd 5.5" display, nothing is for free. Compromises might not be noticed by more folks until the magic pixie dust wears off. For fanboys though, it never will :)

(edit) Nevermind. Until we see reviews on the US models I feel like we're

Thanks guys... but buying the devices isn't the issue. I can afford to buy two new phones outright. My issue is that every month I'm rationing texts or blowing past what I have. I'm sick of it. I'm also going to consolidate my personal and work phones to one device used for both. So I will be putting a heavier load of texts on my already limited amount.

Only reason I'm looking at edge is that I could do the 10gb plan (more than enough data) and get the $50 discount (2 lines) and end about the same $ I'm at now. I would then pay off the phones. Just curious if under this scenario, if I could sell the paid off phones on the open market when I was ready to upgrade again?

I'm on a 450 minutes/1000 texts/Unlimited Data plan with VZW. I just looked and can change to Unlimited Texts and keep my unlimited data. You may want to check with VZW to see if it's possible for you.

Looks like that might work. I'm just not sure keeping unlimited (with my usage) is worth the money. Anyways... thanks.

Got a question:
Few pages back people were suggesting that the 805 processor will be out, anyone know if that actually truth or just rumors, if its true do you lot think it be released when apple 6 will be out?

GO BELGIE!

Belgium - Russia 1:0

I am happy. :D

Now, all eyes on LG..I mean South Korea vs Algeria.

Go Korea! :D

hmmm, maybe not. 3:0 Algeria after the first half.

LG and Samsung prime models with 805, released before iPhones will be. It will be known as The Phone Wars :D

Given Goople's efforts lately, I am not so sure which is the Darkside between them and Apple....

Dolphin browser restores the text reflow that Google took away from WebKit and WebView engines for everyone, and their support page gives the modified Flash apk up with instructions and breaks Google breaking Flash sideloading in KitKat. (I don't care what anyone says about it being dead, Flash is essential, just surf responsibly.)

Root to fix the SD card security "feature" in KitKat.

Here is another review (reviewers initial thoughts: display not as bright as other, halos from sharpening, display brightness limited when heating up, battery life not very impressive ~4hrs screen time, low contrast ratio compared to other screens, colors over-saturated yet look dim):o

Google is way more dangerous than Apple.

I don't use Apple products, me and Apple are two separate entities.

Meanwhile Google knows ALL about you.

Be afraid.

Not kidding here.

I hope she's insane.

I'm at 9 hours off the charger, 3.5 hours screen on (normal use for me, surfing and doing stuff) with my screen auto-brightness keeping me at the second-highest level for 85% of the time, and I'm only down to 55% - Gsam Battery Monitor says to expect between 5 and 8 more hours of use at my present rate.

I expect nothing less from any flagship.

I think that either LG really screwed up or these battery reviewers are having a click bait field day.

Guess which one I think is more likely. :D
