LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

While I'd obviously prefer the 32/3 model, I think I will still get the 16/2 if that's all VZW offers. My DNA is 16GB with no SD card, and I still have ~4.5GB free. Since all pics and videos will be stored on the SD card, I'd have even more space available if I had an SD card.

Also, since I'll be utilizing Edge, whatever phone I get only needs to last a year before I can upgrade, so I'm not overly concerned.

I think that is what Verizon marketing is counting on. Average consumers followed by the acquiesce-ers in the forums ;) The combination is probably what they planned for in their internal forecast. That again means a LOT of high profit margin attach rates from wireless charger sales!

Hey! Apple already makes us (VZW) manage a bunch of pesky SKUs. Let's sell the 2/16 only, since would sell more than the 3/32. To HECK with the 3/32, since most will be indifferent.

More anecdotal rationale for my 'harbinging' of the G3 low spec offerings. As long as customers buy them, Verizon will sell them and them only.

The good news this makes me wait for an 805 or a later 810 device that is actually DESIGNED to efficiently push Qhd :) Tempt free for me with 16GB.

New device pixie dust is potent stuff :)

Pixie dust high in full effect.

That's an excellent point about the silence from TMO. Gives me hope. If I'm honest with myself, I'm so invested in this thing already, there is a small chance I would just get the 2/16 and hate myself for a year.

Generally speaking, what makes us think that 3/32 will be tmo exclusive?

Rush friend from BB says so. Anything else?

What are the benefits for LG? I am having hard time seeing any.

Benefit to LG would be dependent on what extra $ T-mobile would have paid for early exclusive.

Yeah...and whatever Sprint paid for being gold-exclusive: D

I don't think Legere would pay substantial amount, especially when merger talks are going.

Oh well. What do I know? Just speculating.

I really admire your resolve here.

I hope when you get it, it's the best phone you've ever had and is better than your best hopes.

I mean that 100

All these silence from us carriers or even lg makes me think that there is still something special they are not yet telling us. It's like in the mean time they are planning something. It is interesting or questionable how carriers are taking the approach to the LG flagship.

The set up is usually a product manager (or two) in marketing and then that person/s relies on a bunch of other folks to get anything done. Factor in the internal bureaucracy/cost of getting any info published and they are juggling multiple products and the new iPhones looming and there you go. The iPhones alone have a shorter runway with less than three months at this point. AT&T and Verizon are both leaner than people may think as far as staff to do this stuff.

A lot of the lack of info is more due to some big companies not using social media to reciprocate the product launch process with their customers. Tmo has embraced it since they were in trouble and THAT is the mother of invention (necessity). More simply put, Verizon and some other carriers functionally have no eyes or ears to notice the perceived indifference the public thinks they have.

Factor in their internal customer service metrics and sales forecasts biased by their middle management on up bonus and merit structures, and you have a perfect mix for AT&T and Verizon being perceived as complete and utter ba$****$ :)

That is what Vivian from the Young Ones would say! Added: Anybody remember Punkrock Hamster from the YOs? Have you got a video? :)

Added 2: Not to mention carriers again tend to not brag or promo too early if their specs are less than others. Not a good launch tactic. A lot of customers are indifferent to specs, but the marketing departments take no chances to build negative vibes on a product too early. We shall see if this holds accurate in a few weeks-ish.

Added 3: The carriers just need to fess up and say what the are releasing. Look at the concoction posted here! I feel like one of them Bigfoot believers making "news".

And let's remember the lost difference with an iPhone launch -

1. Google up directions to your nearest Apple Store.

2. Do the same for your LG, Samsung and HTC stores.

Apple can force the distribution of a release on a specific date into the market whether carriers like it or not.

They sell directly to the public.

Every so often, a Samsung store exists. Yeah, everyone is beating down those doors. I think that the only reason they exist is for a marketing splash to make fun of lines during an iDevice launch.

The only thing close in the Android world is direct web sales of the Nexus. Google, like Apple, can sell those whether AT&T and T-Mobile are ready or not.

This is a big part of the reason that I insist we'll never hear anything from a manufacturer about dates until their distributors agree.

And it's why we'll never "find a way to fix it" - the reason can't be found because it's not really lost. Only the manufacturer stores are lost.

I'm rooting for you guys. If my S3 wasn't on it's last leg I might have kept chasing the unicorn.

I have decided to not get a Qhd device unless designed for it. The 805 is, but the 801 gpu is at its ceiling dealing with Qhd.

Still will be interesting what is launched and the device feedback with ambient temps warming up this time of year. Will soon have a lot more feedback.

I'm still watching it closely. But its hard not to look ahead to the prime. If the storage and ram hold true, it seems like the phone many of us were hoping for originally, even if the expectations were unfair at that time.

If they actually get it out in the fall, that's just not that far away. That also assumes it's offered by my carrier though. No word on that yet to my knowledge. The evleaks pic of the G3 and Vista had a new homesceen date of August 11. Wonder if that has any significance?

People are going to go crazy in here if the G3 doesn't launch until 8/7:eek::stupid:

Chrome sucks rocks, Dolphin actually rocks. :D
Interesting. I've used only Dolphin for years but THEY have started sacking, imo. The swipe for bookmarks doesn't work as well anymore(which is Dolphin's best feature). Used to open Dolphin, swipe, go to bookmark. Now I open Dolphin, swipe, then swipe again(and sometimes again), then go to bookmark. Started making me mad after years of being great, so I tested Dolphin against Chrome. EVERY PAGE I WOULD GO TO LOADED FASTER ON CHROME. Every single one. So I switched.

My mileage is exactly the opposite.

It may be a compatibility issue with your phone or configuration during Dolphin updates.
