LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

I used to think wireless charging was a puffy luxury, but a good thing is less wear issues with the USB port. Ports are pretty tough, but nice to not have to rely on it.... My guess is a pricey add-on for G3?

Most attachment sales are pure sweet revenue to the carrier with high margins.
As long as it doesn't add much thickness I would get one if it isn't pre-enabled. I even use my wireless charger to turn on my phone in the morning. Just throw it up there and on it goes. I wish they had a car charger like that. Funny how you get used to things like this and can't look back. The knock on/off is like that. I have grown to hate phone that don't have that feature.

Sprint is ever closer to buying TMO.

I believe the new name of the comany is STANK:

(SPRINT + T-MOBILE + SoftBank)

Of course, gotta give props to twospirits for the previous merger moniker given to SPRINT + SoftBank: SPANK. :thumb:

Becaaaauuuuuuse, you can't have STANK without the SPANK.....................

So some quick investigation of the FCC files, looks like the VZW version will NOT come with wireless charging back as standard. I say this because there are two documents, one which is "HAC Plots Wireless Charger Cover" and one which is "HAC Plots Normal Cover"

Gonna have to shell out some extra dough for wireless charging it seems.

This is bad news. I don't see why you're getting thanked for this. Hanged, yes. Thanked, no. :p (steven runs)

I was thinking more along the lines of t-spank or Spank Mobile.

The MO MONEY is no surprise,& I'm betting this will be the same on the other carriers stateside.

At least we do know with some certainty that all will have the QI capability.

I just hope that the OEM QI covers are easily/ready available, especially in the non-Quick Cover variety.

And I am also wondering if the initial dimensions of the phone will differ with the non-wireless charging cover. If they are the same dimensions, LG would win in that department as well... although, I haven't checked if the wireless charging covers for the s5 are thicker like the Note 3

No for T-Mobile.

I will also pay extra to get the wireless charging feature. It's very convenient. I am currently using a Samsung charger for my G2. It should work for the G3.

Yeah if it's just a replaceable back cover, I'm in too. If it's the LG circle case, Im going to have to think about it. My tablet has a flap case, and I find the flap mostly annoying and in the way.

As much as I don't have any interest in an iphone, you have to admire the way Apple controls the quality, features and consistency of it's phone and it's OS. This android stuff is all over the place. And Verizon just makes it worse.

Take old tech, update it consistently so it's still old, do not give all models the same update but give them all the same OS revision number and claim in advertising that unlike Android everyone got the update quickly, disallow any browsers that compete with your own until you cave in and let others skin but not change your browser, and then tell hilarious lies about the competition while still being light years behind in features.

And then claim excellent service while refusing to fix or replace defective units, astroturf so the faithful keep the meme about quality alive.

Bring out handsets where you can short out the antennas by picking it up, as warned by your own engineers during design who got punished by management for being wrong, and then hilariously claim that everyone else had the same problem but just didn't notice it. Ignore complaints from people who went to other models saying, no, it's a problem. Finally admit it's a problem and give away free bumpers to fix it, and publicly declare the company generosity after spending so much for the bumpers to solve everyone's problem - and cancel the program having served a minority of new owners.

Release new models with yellow screens that in many cases left blotches on the screen so bad that text could not be read in those areas. Deny the problem exists until announcing that it's just excess glue that will burn off after you use it enough. Offer a grace period for it to happen. During the grace period tell people that they hadn't waited long enough and after the grace period tell people that they waited too long to complain.

Should I continue or should I point out that having a press conference with a longer gap before release and more information is not the worst thing that a phone buyer could suffer.

As to the premise - I don't share your opinion that I have to admire them for their behavior at all.

They don't have software consistency in anything but revision numbers and they've committed more quality sins in hardware than many Android hardware makers combined.

And yet the lie of iPhone quality marches on.

It's not androids fault, is the carrier's and manufacturers.

Exactly.

How dare they not wait another month before making their announcement?

How dare they let you know early on that one of two, or both, models are coming soon to your carrier, details to follow?

It's all their fault!

What terrible quality is that?

And don't forget, Google, who has zero control over their businesses, lets them do it!

Wow, looks like you have had experiences with them and you are one of the few who can see beyond Apple's motive and manipulative marketing to enslave poor eye candy consumers.

Tell me more!!!

I think that's why Google wants to implement Google silver line asap, to stop this mess. Maybe they are aiming to give GOOGLE more control over their software in side the awesome phone, and I'm looking forward to that. As far as carriers I do hope they go along and let Google do its thing. Some people do see these all as business, so that's why you sometime see a bunch of promos and special releases and exclusive apps from carriers to convey more revenue and promotions to their services. Geez.....

Yeah, Android becomes like iOS, Google becomes like Apple.

What a great freaking idea that is.
