LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

My friend's cousin has an uncle that works for LG. He said that in September they are releasing the G3 Opus. It will have a super secret 900 chip, 4K screen(5.5"), 7,000mah battery(removable), 8gb RAM, 1tb of storage, 2 lasers (one for photos and one for engraving), water and dust proof, iris scanner, NFC, wireless charging, stylus, IR, and will skip Android 5.0 and go straight to 6.0 a.k.a Whatchamacallit. It will also project up to an 165" screen on any surface in 4k and 3D. Price point is only $1,000US.
I'd buy that for a dollar!

Anyone, name the movie for 100 bonus points.

It's going to be a different model than the G3.

Its focus is LTE-Advanced and they're discussing it because at least two Korean carriers may be ready to support that.

LG was quite specific about that.

Nonetheless, when it releases here after the G3, people are going to cry about how they got cheated.

Along with owners crying about the matching Prime for the other brands.

As for future proofing - I've never seen that before, it sounds really cool. ;) :)
But July is the same date as the release of the regular G3. But we'll see :).

You haven't answered btw, are you going to get one!!!?

I've seen it, EM:p

I do remember Sams Club selling extremely advanced desktop PC.
It was totally future-proof.

Buyer could easily switch the motherboard along w/CPU in that future-proof PC, that's all. :D

I don't think LTE-A support is specific to S805. It's just faster up to 225Mbps. I believe S800 already supports LTE-A up to 150Mbps with MDM9x25. But US carriers are not ready for that yet.

Anyway I'm glad S805 is back in the game for G3. I didn't see the point of upgrading G2 to G3 with 801 as G2 works great on battery, speed. But if S805, it's different story. Probably worth waiting for a few more months.

To meeee.... Future proof means decent performance and development for a year and a half. I was satisfied with the GNex. Now it's long in the tooth.

see, everybody needs are different.

I had G2 and I sold it because it had all the disadvantages of my wife's Nexus 5 - no SD slot, non-removable battery, so-so camera/camcorder, onscreen buttons etc.

Now, G3 with or without 805 fits my needs just fine.

As of LTE-A, my LTE is 3 times faster than my cable internet. Don't care much about that either.

My answer hasn't changed.

I don't need a new phone, I'd like one, and I'm going to come in later for less money - on something.

My criteria -

- Phone performance, only other owners on my network that I trust can tell me what to expect.

- Battery life.

- Software, and I really happen to like HTC apps and features. I'm flexible but absolutely won't compromise on a number of things.

- Boomsound, and I'll need to hear any competitors to that side by side for myself.

- Camera features, and I'm way ok with the M8, and looking forward to seeing more from the G3.

- Size, I guess.

- At the very bottom of my list is the main SoC. I've owned and enjoyed the Snapdragons S1, S2, S3, and S4, having the final 32-bit model in the series, the 805, would be pretty cool from my collector's point of view. But the reality is that I'm very happy with my present phone and a Snapdragon 600 would already be a huge improvement on that. So I don't care - except where software requires it. So far, the software I'd like is pretty happy with an 801.

- Ok, processor and QHD are tied for the bottom of my list.

Is LTE-Advanced available on any USA carriers? If not, then this will likely not be coming to the USA at all. Does T-Mobile have this?

So that "means" Verizon will launch a 2/16 G3 and then a 2/16 Prime two months later ;) :) Remember, per LG marketing the sd card is expandable to 2TB! Verizon reps will mislead folks to that being enough app storage for a very small town :)

OK, let's test if there is anyone around my age out there. Rush is reminding me of a cartoon character I watched growing up, who's response to everything was "We're doomed........we'll never make it".

Anyone name the character? Bonus points for the show.

I just Googled and the answer came up. Pinky and the brain!!!!. Don't mess with Google.

I'm not ashamed to say that I still watch cartoons.

Always have watched them, always will.

I turned my kids on to Pinky and the Brain and my grandkids on to Jimmy Neutron.

Most of the prime time adult shows are just bad cartoons with self-absorbed losers hamming up melodrama anyway.

Melodrama? Make mine with a genuine Acme anvil please.
