Do as EarlyMon said. You can go back to stock ICS if you'd like. Or try other custom ROMs. I'd try ViperROM, you don't have to fastboot flash the kernel with that one, I believe.

Unfortunately I installed the OTA with JB, and not happy with the results. Is there a method available to root after installing the ota with JB??
[My original HTC EVO was rooted.]
This guide has not met this DUMMIE yet...
Trying to root before updating to Jelly Beans so I can revert back afterwords if I don't like it or can't fix some things about it. I've intentionally not taken updates for months to leave this "easy" root window open for myself.
Is Jelly Bean rooted already? Have people taken the update and then rooted and reverted back to Ice Cream Sandwich already? (I thought maybe I read something along these lines)
Windows 7 / 32Bit
Evo 4G LTE / Software Version 1.13.651.1 710RD / HBOOT 1.12
Method / Zedomax
Did I miss a step somewhere? Trying to run the 'runme.bat' from the Zedomax 'Evo4GLTERoot' folder and something is not sticking right. I updated the HTC/Android device drivers and the script runs and reboots the device but when it runs it says "adb server is out of date. killing..." , "no such file or directory". Phone reboots and starts as normal.
Do I need to have adb or part of the Android SDK installed to my PC before hand?
(Trying to avoid installing/live CD ubuntu because I have low disk space. I'm not very keen on the idea of using the HTC Unlock tool either) you gain gain s-off using lazypanda
I know you guys will be glad to help.
Posting this now to get the problem stated and out of the way, I will be back online late tonight (around midnight central)
I am not rooted, BUT I accepted/installed the 12/12/2012 ota update (Software version 3.15.651.16.710RD, Sense 4+, Android 4.1.1, PRI 2.87_003)) I also need a method that I can use on a MAC.
Update 12/13/12: so there has been a new OTA that gives you hboot 2.09. unfortunately LazyPanda and DirtyRacun will not work with the new hboot.. You will need to use the HTCdev method found in section 2. At the moment you will not be able to get s-off with the new hboot so hopefully you did not accept it. If you did you will need to wait for s-off. All you can do now is unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery.
Okay. So for having S-on, I will not be able to flash kernals through recover and flash things with the bootloader. All I can do is flash ROMs ..am I understanding this right? And I can't gain S-off because no one has been able to do it with the hboot I currently have, correct?Yes, you'll be able to do everything an S-off phone can except flash kernels through the recovery, and flash stuff with the bootloader.
We have guides for everything, no worries!

Thanks for the link. I'm going to try this (rooting) out on a day I'm off from work!correct. please read this about kernels:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/606748-how-install-kernels-s-h-boot-1-15-a.html
with s-on, the boot.img partition does not get flashed. this is where the kernel lies. so when you flash a rom the previous boot.img will remain, unless you flash another kernel. now this will work fine with most sense roms. but going to and from aosp to sense roms is when you will run into issues.
please read the above link for more info.
Why'd they take it down? I guess I haven't followed any of this since I got s-off.
I've still got the files
They still maintain the PandaFinder with instructions for people who may still use LazyPanda though.
http://unlimited.io/PandaFinder.htm
So far as I recall, we agreed among ourselves to only link to their site, not directly to their files. And I have personally assured them that we honored their wishes.
I think that you can say that LazyPanda is deprecated but unless they said something recently, we can still link to the PandaFinder, no?
Am I missing something?
