Metro PCS Zmax Pro Software Update Z981v1.0.0B12?

reading the last few posts, i'm gonna delete the b12 update i have queued up, n see if it still downloads....WOW, now it tells me my 08 version is up to date too! i think i last downloaded the 12 maybe 4 days ago?
 
That is a very good indicator that the update has been pulled. It was screwing up phones that did not have issues. I have about had it. This thing is no good to me if it won't do hosting.

Really 4 days ago? Man I been trying to do this update since the first of this month lol but it keeps telling me I'm up to date with b08...well I least you had the update file for a while lol.

Someone on the Google+ community called ZTE and they confirmed that the update was pulled because of bugs, they said there will be another one soon and to expect Android N early next year

Well I know I said I am going to probably go with the axon7 but the axon7 mini is looking good to me. I do not make many calls at all. I watch an online streamed movie now and then but love my hi res music. The mini will do it for me. I think it has a vastly improved stock audio player in it than the full size 7 also. Found specs that said it actually does album art now!

Just what I suspected all along!. Will nougate get us hosting. I would love to add a hi quality DAC/ head amp to my pro. But the axon7 mini is looking good to me . If I can get the sound thru headphones I want without a stack it would be great. The sound out of the pro as is is dismal at best lol

I would be so happy with my zmax pro if I could just get hosting(USB OTG) then I can add whatever DAC/headphone amp I desire. And share data both ways. Why ZTE did not make this USB OTG capable is a travesty. I love it's size lol. Root looks like it will never happen. I could live with current axon7 faults and it looks like the mini has less of them.

I agree with everything.
I even want larger.
Just allowing root would solve almost everything - someone would've even figured out enabling otg.

If the Android 7 update comes out it can be a ball changer well maybe but either way don't give up yet give it some time and see but then again it's up too you.

Processor supports OTG... And IR, higher usb & Q Charge-for both v2/3 depending if ya got Snapdragon615/617.

There's a lot of potential post -root for dev firmware work... Unless if like you say, it's also hardware that needs change.
 
Is there a way to update the phone without going thru the settings? I know the update got pulled, but I want to update my phone. Someone had posted the update in the Root section. Thanks
 
You may be able to update it with those files using SD card... But weren't you one of the people holding off on updating? Why now?

I'm glad I grabbed the B12 update before they pulled it. Leaves me wondering why they actually took it down, because it fixed EVERYTHING that was wrong with my Zmax...

My phone works perfectly now, they had better not try pushing another revised B08 on me

Thru recovery? It doesn't show in the SD card in recovery. Also it downloaded as a .up file? Should it be a .zip file?

There is an option, but since the file extension is .up, it isn't showing. I'll try zipping it at going that route.
 
I was maybe hoping of putting the file in wherever it actually downloads to when you download the OTA, but I guess we need root for that.
