Root [MetroPCS] [ROM][F6] Xperion ROM **Updated 2/11/2015**

[I lost/had stolen my Zune MP3 player]
I have been thinking about adding a [very] high capacity External SD card to this phone [for music mostly]. Is there a limit to what this phone/Android can support? i.e. I was thinking about adding a 128GB SD Card.

freedom kernel supports init.d. is there a reason some init.d script didn't work without smanager?

Most likely you came across the same issue I had not too long ago. Init.d is not working at all I used pimpmyrom to fix it. And no longer did I have to use smanager. GT's trim script and the internal swap script.

Not sure what you guys are doing, but I'm sure init.d works in the kernel.

You say the internal swap script didn't work with the kernel's init.d, well that's because it's not an init.d script since it has a ".txt" at the end. FYI, init.d scripts are not suppose to have extensions at the end like a ".txt" which the internal swap script has.

Also the first line of an init.d script must be the following...
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh

You guys are probably trying to use regular scripts as init.d.

It was actually your trim script that wasn't working for me so no. And the reason I mentioned the swap script is because after I used the universal init.d I noticed that later on smanager stopped working. I uninstalled it and after rebooting my device both scripts were working without any 3rd party application.

Lol Trim is not something you would see since it just marks memory block pages as ready for deletion beforehand to reduce lag. Trim runs on bootup doing its thing and you wont see it. More details in the kernel thread.

Also it's not a good idea to install a universal init.d if you're running a kernel with initd support, they're not gonna play nice with each other.

As for the swap script, it would only work with smanager since it's not an init.d script.

And as a reminder, all initd scripts must be given the following permissions to work:
rwx rwx rwx

No where in my post did I say that it's something you would see. To check if it's working you would find trim.log in /data so I don't know where you got that from. You told me that yourself. If you go back to the kernel thread you would know that I had an issue and I couldn't get trim to work it never created a trim.log therefore after using universal init.d that fixed the issue..When I ran the app it said your kernel does not support init.d so there was a problem on my device. Why else would I use that on a kernel that already supports it??? And as for the the script working on my device without smanager installed I won't even bother to ask you... My guess is that since it stopped working (force closed) and I uninstalled it something got corrupted and my device is able to run it without the app or it did not fully uninstall. Even though it is not show as an installed app on my phone.

Well not gonna continue with this anymore. It's only you two guys that have experienced this issue. I do know initd works on the kernel for sure, I use it everyday. Why you two have experienced this? I have no idea.

Reading your post again you say "some init.d script didn't work without smanager". Does this mean there were others that did work?

The scripts that didn't work for you are probably plain scripts for running with smanager. People often mistake those for initd scripts. For your initd scripts make sure they have no file extension, just the name. Also make sure the first line is as follows for any initd script:
#!/system/bin/sh

Also I just remembered. Did you root your phone with towelroot? If you did you will need to install busybox which is needed to run initd. You can find busybox in the playstore. Most root methods install busybox, but unfortunately towelroot doesn't.

To check if you have busybox look in /system/xbin and see if it's there.

Got this phone yesterday with my best buy insurance for my bricked f3. This ROM is wonderful. Thanks for all your hard work GT.

ROM Updated

Changes:
  • Adjustment so that custom system backgrounds only show in settings and not in contacts
  • Color adjustment to secondary play store search bar
  • Changed some blue tab and divider accents to white throughout rom to match the theme better
  • Changed gradient black app backgrounds to full black
  • I also updated the flashable system backgrounds. Now it's just one installer that lets you pick which background you want (screen shot below). This will only work for this new rom update.

Instructions:
To update rom you must repeat steps 1 to 9 of the install instructions and if you want Freedom kernel then do step 10 also. If you have any internal to external sd mod like link2sd setup, you'll have to redo it after updating the rom.

As a reminder, I keep a dated change log in post #2 of this thread.

;)

Is there anyway i can remove nova launcher from the system to install the paid verison? Also by applying this custom rom has your phone battery saved battery? Do you think it will help save battery life on mine? THANK YOU FOR THE HARD WORK THOUGH AND RELEASING THE FIRST CUSTOM ROM I HAVE SEEN @GameTheory

All I had to do was purchase the NOVA Prime app/key from the Play Store and install it.

Why pay when i have the free apk? Will buy if i have to support developer because, Nova launcher is an amazing launcher.

The *** paid *** version is NOVA Prime. You need to purchase NOVA Prime from the Play Store and the installed version [in the ROM] will become NOVA Prime...

Figured there was no way around it but and when i mean free apk i have Nova Prime 3.0.2, thus i have 2 more questions.

If you have already paid for it, the Play Store should have an "Install" button when you go to the "NOVA Prime" app there.

Kind of cute you don't get it sir, I have downloaded Nova Launcher Prime in the apk form but to get it to work i would have to uninstall the current Nova Launcher in the settings of the custom rom which i don't know how to do so i asked the creator got it? I have not paid for anything when i download an apk which is free for the same app

If you already purchased nova from play store then all you have to do is just install your prime key. If you purchased nova directly from the nova website like I did, all you have to do is open nova app and enter your passkey and email.

If you have a pirated copy of nova, then this isn't the place to seek support for that. App piracy is not welcomed here. Refer to forum rules.

Alright didn't know thanks can you answer my other questions? Most likely will buy it to show my support.
