Root Need help

Where does it say "show" :o?
Right under the words "1. HTCdev method (recommended)

I need to verify that the recovery you are about to download and install will backup your rom....If not, then I will post the smelkus recovery I use....

o.k...download this file... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/58324641/PC36IMG_ra-supersonic-4.3-smelkus-mason.zip
Once its on your computer, rename it to exactly, PC36IMG.zip
Do not add an extra .zip to the end (windows hides those file extentions)

Then proceed with step 2 of that link I sent you earlier (step 2 will say "transfer the file to the root............)

Take is slow, and if you have any questions post, I will be here with other people too.

actually the better guide is this one:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html

skip the rooting process and go to the switching recoveries section. the PC36IMG file in the 2.3.5 guide is slightly modified to work with the unlocked bootloader. it might work though, but i i think the other guide is better at explaining recoveries.

Thanks Ocn, I couldn't find that one...and then I posted the recovery I use because I didn't know if it would back up his rom........but I read thru it again, and I geuss it would....so he's cool either way...:D

is there a way to unroot the phn and just return it to stock w/o bricking the phn...?
Yes there is, but I don't know how. But having a rooted phone is better in the long run...why would you want to do that:confused:...don't take that statement in a condescending way please ...you can unroot if you like:D

o.k...I was just reading the previous posts and I believe you can use your current rom to get it connected....we just need to change your recovery...go back to post 30 and click on that link and read ocn's comment....
The reason to change recovery before you flash a new rom, is because your current recovery, clockwork, is not too good. So, first we need to get you a good recovery....so back to post 30 sir:)

yes there is a way to unroot the phone. the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html has an unrooting section.

just to make sure though what is your hboot version and baseband? power off the phone then press and hold power+vol down to get to the bootloader. at the top of the bootloader screen, it will say what your hboot and radio(baseband) is.

Well, with your rom, you may not have that option...just try powering down, then push and hold power down and hit power button to get into hboot....
