Root Odin (Return phone to Stock/Factory)

I read you also need to "fix permissions" when you wipe the dalvik. So i tried again an wiped dalvik then i fixed permissions and re booted the phone. Right away i went to market to down load an app and it wouldnt download, then the auth error popped up again. (i read serveral people can download 1-3 apps before the error pops up) I didnt get that here??

Grrrr. im mad. if you cant download an app then Root is pretty much useless right now.

If you're getting Force Closes, it sounds like something got messed up in a bad way.
I would suggest running ODIN again with just the PDA file, though the others load so quick I guess it doesn't hurt to flash those too

Also the force closes happened after the second time I wiped delvik and did the fix permissions. I figured I would try odin again but later im at work and iy was a pain here. Plus im too bussy. damn I nesd the bog buttons app sooooo bad lol

I just re did the ODIN I was able to do my gmail real fast then I logged into "talk" so i got on market and was able to get my Big Buttons :) everything looked good... but then bam, auth error popped up. I just read your reply so i just did the reset and then the wipe and now the reboot. i am waiting right now for it to boot up and see what happened.

Thanks guys i hope this works so i can start doing things on the phone

alright its booted up and I got my gmail and went to get my big buttons right away. It automatically updated layer, maps, etc, etc again so i am waiting for all of that to complete then we will wait and see if that damn pesky auth error pops up

Well its been a little while and nothing yet *fingers crossed* I have my big buttons keyboard and I also got the retro clock widget so i can live with that for now. So far no "google authentication error" has popped up. I figure i will give it the night and tomarrow if all is well i will start to see what i should do now that I'm rooted, as right now the phone is just plain jane normal with a superuser icon.

Thank you both Hroark13 and Koumajutso. As a matter of fact thank all you you Dev's that have made any and all off this stuff possible

The zip file is named EE14_RT_CWM_rev3_HK_1_2_.zip
that tells you it's CWM rev 3
Rev 4 is in the CWM thread
you can tell the CWM rev by booting in to CWM.

As far as custom kernel revs, the actual kernel is the same as stock, what's different is included modules and configuration files. That doesn't show in the kernel version.
Hypothetically, it's possible to add a displayed field in the about screen in settings.apk I guess

so i guess my first question is why not include rev 4? or are we still working out the bugs?

either way i'd still like to see some kind of note on the link, like this:

DOWNLOAD EE14 ROOTED VERSION WITH CWM (revision 3) AND HROARKERNEL (1.2)
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

well i figured if shabby can modify the "Build number" in Settings-> i About phone->Build number

then i thought it should also be possible to edit the "Kernel version" as well??

What koumajutsu said is true

The kernel version is in the zImage, which we can not complie a working version of, we only mod the initramfs

The CWM version is actually v4.0.1.5

I can not change that either, that is set by the makers of CWM

I created CWM ports of v4.0.1.5 but there has been several revisions of my port, each of my ports is still v4.0.1.5 but I add a rev number to keep track of what changes I made to the v4.0.1.5 port

Hope that make sense

maybe they can tell you how?

it would be nice to be able to see which version of stuff we are using, to make sure we ask the right questions and reports bugs/issues with the appropriate version n' such

i've done some reinstalls on my phone and to be honest i'm not really even sure which revision i'm using or which kernel is floating around in there...?

i feel kinda silly asking questions about kernel X vs. kernel Y, when i don't even know (for sure) which kernel i'm using

ditto with CWM revisions...

for example: i just odinned rooted EE14 (which we've already established needs some labels) rev3 kernel 1.2

then i installed shabbymod .9

then i flashed the CWM rev4 kernel 1.2 update

then i went ahead and installed some mods/scripts/themes, etc..

but now that i think about it

1. i'm not even sure if i did stuff in the right order

or

2. if all the stuff i did ACTUALLY installed properly, or if i'm still just running some butchered odin pack

and

3. now that i have a glitch, i don't feel really confident about what version of stuff i'm even using to ask questions or report bugs

btw my glitch is whenever i do a CWM backup (not restore) i lose the apps i installed (it seems to go back to a stock or factory reset??)

fyi i'm using A2SD which seems to have installed fine

build version is completely different and is done in the build.prop.. i could make it say 2.3.7 cyanogenmod for anyone that cared, doesnt make it so. kernels are named during compile.. since source is busted not much we can do about that, got an issue with it? take it up with samsung.

as for your other issues, ive already talked with hroark about it. we have a solution. from now on we will only come out with 1 version of anything that way all bugs associated with something are from that one version.

and what is stopping someone (who make another system mod) from naming it something like

i Settings -> About phone -> Build number =

ShabbyMod-0.9-K_RC1.0

or

ShabbyMod-0.9-K_H1.2

where "K_#" indicates which kernel we currently have installed, and just for kicks

we could throw a CWM rev # in there as well

ShabbyMod-0.9-K_H1.2-CWMrev4

or whatever ;)

now if you'll excuse me i have to go label some phones using a HIGHLIGHTER marker

okay so i did the latest odin recovery on my phone, (the one with kernal and cwm)

when it rebooted i had no signal, i kept getting com.android.phone force closing

can someone please help me with my problem?

i have ee14 with cwm odin downloaded on my computer, and i did the appropriate steps, phone rebooted and i get no signal, phone lags, and when i go to settings >> about phone >> phone information (whatever its called, you view your phone number and prl) and i get a force close for com.android.phone.

i then downloaded ee13 rooted odin and tried that, the same thing happens. no signal, phone lags and com.android.phone force closes..

i redownloaded oddin ee14 with clockwork just now thought maybe it be a curropt file, but still, no signal, lags, and force clos of com.android.phone..

I used Odin because I was on latest shabbymod .09 loaded and I tried flashing the honeycomb hybrid. Theme and it was stuck in a bootloop.I needed to get back to stock anyways cuz I needed to change stuff in ##data# and ##spc# yes I know my spc, unless it changes when you Odin something. I tried calling those even with the force closing and can't access those menus on stock. The browseer also force closes

if you go into setting about phone

what is the baseband version and hardware version

can you toggle airplane mode?

Doing need to flash a new baseband in cwm?.
Idk what to do about the unknown hardware issue

I think your phone is unfixable, by anyone but Samsung

I recomend you Odin the ee14 factory , all three tar files

and get it replaced under warranty, or return it if your still in your time limit

you should also backup and erase any of your personal info from sdcard before hand

sorry i could not be anymore help
