Root Odin (Return phone to Stock/Factory)

Thanks for the response... I just re-flashed EJ06 w/ Odin-this time I included the "boot" with the phone, pda, and ops. My phone is showing the "3G" symbol signaling data is avail. but when I attempt to load a web page w/ the browser or market. Should I try to flash a non-rooted Gingerbread and then root it via the Shabby method? Thanks again for your time and attention ya'll.... Wish me luck! lol

No problem!!! Hope you got the error corrected and all is well.. If so please let us know how you fixed the problem just in case someone else has the same issue.. And if you still need help just ask,, we are here to help.. Thank you!!!

Having major problems on my phone.

I cant install anything on my phone using ODIN.
In the log it says "Big partition size" then "FAIL" where "RESET" should be.

I followed all the steps correctly, I mean EXACTLY what I need to do .. yet ODIN shows "FAIL" why ?

Update :: Removed the sd card and now ODIN says FAIL and then RESET but doesnt reset the phone. Oh great >.>

Miguel the only thing that I can think is that it sounds like the driver isn't working right or isn't installed. If you use the driver that windows finds by default it sometimes just won't work right. The driver provided from hroark might be the ticket to get yours working correctly.

I would suggest even if you have installed it to remove the driver and then reinstall it making sure you don't have the phone plugged in till after you have removed/reinstalled the driver fresh.

How long should this (EJ06 Gingerbread Rooted Image with CWM5 made by Chin Checka) take? I've tried it several times now & I still don't have anything as far as I can tell.

I boot looped a prevail the other day by not having the right mod for a theme and installing it using CWM. I used EJ06 Gingerbread Rooted Image with CWM5 made by Chin Checka and of course Odin to put it all on the phone and it worked perfect.

I followed the first post and it worked without a hitch.

Put phone into download fire up Odin put in .ops, boot.zip, phone.zip and pda.zip files into the appropriate fields and hit Start. Takes less than 5 minutes for Odin to run through and then maybe another 5 minutes max for the first startup and you should have a like new GB rooted phone.

I did not think of the drivers. If that was the problem then it would be fixed now but unfortunately thats not the issue.

I updated the samsung drivers with the newest versions from XDA forums but ODIN still will not work.

I still receive "FAIL" after "BIG PARTITION SIZE".

I factory reset my phone and had the sd card removed while using Odin and it still wont work :( Im not sure if its just my phone but this is becoming frustrating.

Update : Look at that, I head over to System Update and now I can download the gingerbread update unlike before. Weird, im sure it wont install.

So your phone is working fine? What exactly are you trying to accomplish with Odin?

Im not sure, I believe your the other person with my same problem. Not sure if its only our phones. This is really bad, im on shabbys mod and everything is running smoothly except one important thing. G-APPS force closes all the time so I cant install any apps. Also the dialer is missing so I cant make calls. If only I can fix the G-APPS issue Ill be fine with my 2.2.2 shabby rom.

Im only trying to recover because I cant install apps.and the dailer is missing.

I got the answer! I used my boss's computer and it worked. I had the program on a usb drive so maybe that could make a difference ? I dont believe so. But its something.

Anyways I installed the factory stock 2.2.2 firmware and it worked ! Booted up and instantly I recieved Gingerbread update by wifi. Took about 10 minutes but now im rocking 2.3.5 and my does it look asthetically pleasing.

Im going to root and leave it at that. No more messing with my phone, im done. Gingerbread is fine enough.

So the answer is .. use another computer. Even though you used 2. use a third, maybe at the library ?

Come on man, check out ClockWork Mod Backup, CTMOD 2.2 and A2SD. You will not be sorry.

Once you have CWM you can do a nandroid backup. Then you can always very easily go back in a few minutes if you do not like it.

First off, man am I going to miss my Shabby :(

OK probably a dumb question but I just did the "EJ06 Gingerbread Rooted Image with CWM5 made by Chin Checka" I assumed that when I setup my gmail and went to the market I would get all my old apps back, So question is how do I get all my original apps back that I had? Do I have to just re download evryone I previously had? or is there a way to get them all back without doing each individual one?

Thanks!!

No I cant, Im a student, I have other prorities right now. Me modding this phone was my only free time and it took more than I thought since odin wouldn't work. Im happy with Gingerbread, ill eventually see if I can Cyanogenmod this phone with odin.

You will be able to download any purchased apps but any apps that you did not at least back up data for using Titanium Back up. You will need to redownload them.

Just wanted to throw this out there for those of you who actually read the thread before posting a question.
This is the process I took to root from stock EE14 to GB-CWM-CTMOD

*READ, READ, READ, READ, READ. Dont make these Devs answer the same question twice when all you have to do is READ.

*Epic failure using One click method on EE14

*Odined my EE14 Prevail with Shabby's .9 and used Titanium for backups
(FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS on the first page of THIS thread, worked first time no problem)

*updated to GB STOCK (may not be necessary but I wanted to be safe) using ODIN. image made by Koumajutsu. No problems, again, READ AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.

*ODINed from stock to Rooted GB with SPHM820_EJ06-CWM5-Rooted-rfsCache. Went through with no problems. Because I READ the thread FIRST.
-Thanks to Chin Check for making it the images, Hroark13 for CWM5 and whoever is responsible for rfsCache.

Then I followed the directions on Hroarks CWM2.1 (directions on for CWM are on that thread) which can also be found by using the search bar at the top of every page.

*Next searched and found the CTMOD2.1 thread on THIS website thanks to Bloodawn for that. Flashed the mod using Hroarks CWM, went through no problem.

Now I have the fastest android I have ever owned. This was all because of these great devs and because I READ instead of asking the same question that was just answered two pages back (sometimes even two posts back).
* READ first then READ again and READ some more and then ask for help, everyone here is more than willing to help, but lets leave these guys to what their good at, building us some new kick/ss stuff.
Thanks to EVERYONE who has had a hand in rooting and troubleshooting the prevail.

So So So true.

I love the posts that say something like

"I tried to Root my phone, but now its messed up. Please HELP!" ROFL what method of root? whats messed up? what did you do? At what point did it mess up?

LOL. Its usually from a person that has about 1-3 posts under their belt. Im no Einstein for sure, but I read what I can first then what dont make sense I ask. Also I'm terrible at learning by reading instructions, I'm the hands on type and I learn a lot faster that way. But what I have done so far on this phone blows my mind!! This electronics/phone thing is not my thing really. Im more comfortable tearing a car apart and putting it back together. What I have learned here from these guys (HroarK13, Kouma, Blood, Ingo, Shabby, man the list goes on and on i hate listing them cause you will always forget an important one. these guys are amazing to say the least.

Oops I was rambling again :o anyways keep up the good work guys :)

For anyone else that might have this problem posting it FYI.

I used Odin applied SPHM820_EJ06-CWM5-Rooted-rfsCache from Chin and after anytime I installed/updated anything from the market it would give an error after downloading when it went to update/install it would get an error and force close the update/install. Went through all similar problems on here that I seen and none of them seem to work for me.

What worked in the end was to un-install all updates to Market and then it seemed to work and automatically updated itself to the current version again and no problems after that.

I had not seen any mention of my exact problem and no mentions of just "downgrading" and letting it re-update.

Hope this may help anyone else that may get the same error in the future.
