Root Odin (Return phone to Stock/Factory)

first of all you need to select the .ops for the rest (pda/phone/etc.) to be available...also make sure you've unzipped the folder.

ok idk if im looking in the right place or not and im kinda new at this. I found the link for the (rooted) version of stock for the straight talk precedent, but is there a link for an (unrooted) version. Im just looking for an Odin image to put my phone back to stock without root. Thx :)

lol i understand why would anyone not want a rooted phone? BUT if you ever need to go back to stock to return your phone its best that you have your phone unrooted. THX for the link but I see that is for the prevail now will that also work for the precedent as well being that they are pretty much the same?

Oh sorry didn't notice you don't have prevail..their virtually the exact same phone so I'm almost positive it will work but don't take my word for it...hopefully someone more knowledgable can chime in.

no dont load the prevail image on the precedent, I will probably semi work but have a lot of problems

my phone is rooted right now with cwm installed on it i just want to be able to have a way of unrooting the device if im returning it.

you will have to unroot it or make an unrootesd image yourself if no one has done it for the precedent

I made an unrooted image for the prevail, by mounting the system.rfs file on a linux system and deleting the root files

What do you want the old Foyo EE14 image?

I thought ej06 is why we get thaterror. Hroark set me straight on getting Odin (is included in cwm files) never had that issue on ee14 was all. (Market says my device is incompatible with almost. all apps )

Ejo6 with 2.3.5
Wanted to fiddle with ads updater but market prevents me now. I wont be happy till I dork this all up lol

Get ClockWorkMod installed and then give CTMod a try and see if you have the same market issues

If you do then give CyanogenMod 7 a try and see if you have the market issues

please post you results and let us know how it worked for you

That's tomarrows project.

I feel like I'm stuffing a v12 into a pinto here, LOL.

Again, thanks for all y'all's help! Perhaps our convo tonight (here and elsewhere) can be sticky for noobs like me just starting...(so, you wanna flash your first rom...) Mainly that Odin IS IN your CWM FILES. looked for 2 hours for a download.

Stay rightious my friend,
DJ:cool:

ok, so i downloaded that file (above) and i get 4 files, odin, usb drivers, the sphm820 (105 bytes), and the odin fixe.tar........

so i extracted the files.... open odin just fine.....
click for ops file but no .ops suffix. just sphm820... no .ops

then phone box offers up the cwm odin fixed.tar

do i need anything in the pda??? i dont see a "phone.tar either..

sound right? my unzip hangs alot on this pile so making sure before i start and dont have my files in there.

Thx, Dale
