[Official Discussion] Huawei Ascend 2.1 - 2.2 Firmware Upgrade (Info updated as received!)

Went right to the URL and it shows a download page, but it won't allow us to download "this file type", so I have gone to it on my PC and to any metropcs site, I get an internal error...if someone downloads it, would you put up a link for me to download from, please?
 
I have cm7 on my phone now, will this update be any better than cm7? whats the difference between the too? I would like to have my mms working right again.

big downgrade from cm7 to 2.2, but everyone has their own prefs...but 2.2 is clock at 600mhz unless you have cm6 which is 2.2 but clock at 710, same as cm7 is clock at 710mhz also.

I got this txt also and went on the website.. It tells you to go to the metro app store and download Ascend update.. Thats what I did. I'm downloading the update now. It takes a long time.. =/
 
so should i upgrade me and wifeys phones or not

im rooted shes not..im backing up everything now because
i dont plan on getting a good answer til i get out of school 2night

Oh okay.. yeah that stuff sucks.. But as long as I can take it off it doesnt matter to me. I just want some of the little glitches will b gone with this update :D Where can u you download that explorer thing?

its a paid app, but if you search threw market there are some apps similar to root explorer that does the same thing.

is that the only difference? can't you get other programs that overclock the cpu? Let me ask this, in CWM can i do a complete backup of how my system is now, and if i don't like it, come back to it as I never left it?
 
So is there any way to get this upgrade, root it, and then flash the CM6 kernel? Because I am LOVING 710mhz. Also, can someone give me some opinions on whether this is better than CM6 or no?
 
Ok i have had the (Froyo 2.2.2) for 3 days now and it sucks i can not get it to root z4root 1.2.1 and z4root 1.3.0, eazyroot, root explorer. None work on mine. Not sure if metro put some kind of block on it so it cant be rooted if someone finds a root that works let me know (importslife2000@yahoo.com)

Metro's 2.2.2 sucks in comparison to CM6, and CM7 blow them both out of the water.

I upgraded it a little over a week ago, and regreted it ever since. So if you have CM6 or CM7 stay with it, cause the metro stuff sucks.

Z4 will not work with 2.2.2 You have to use Gingerbreak V1.1 or up, and it works awesome. If you go to the all things root part of this forum you will see a few posts on what you will need to root the 2.2.2 and what you will need to get rid of the Metro bloatware.

no you cant use the kernel thats in cm6, it was compile in that build, metro build have to be tested with a kernel to see if it works.
