Official Droid Eris 2.1 OS coming very soon.

Totally agree. Astro saved my sanity after I did the 2.1 upgrade on my Eris. Worked like a charm. It certainly removed any apprehension I had prior to rooting the phone (which was a piece of cake, by the way) and running the 2.1 upgrade.

And same answer i have is same one i had in a previous thread, when I called HTC they said one way or another, wether its OTA or through a file from their site, you can get the rom when it is officially posted, but like I said, this is one of, if not THE official version.

from a personal stand point, I dont think this will be out this month, I think they are sitting on it, waiting for the incredible to come out.

ZX...thanks for posting the 2.1 upgrade. It worked perfectly. Word of advice for everyone: run a backup of your current apps using Astro (or something comparable). The upgrade will wipe your wallpaper and default the phone back to day one. Remember: Everything on your SD card will remain. Also, make sure you don't do something stupid like trying to unzip the file on your PC/laptop. Simply copy it to the root directory of your Eris via USB. Once there, reboot the phone by pressing END until it powers off. Reboot it by holding SEND and END at the same time until the phone starts. Press the down volume button on the side of the phone to go through the prompts. IT IS SUPER-EASY!!! However, with a little bit of time and some patience, download Astro from Market and restore your apps. Definitely worth the time and the new version rocks!

that was different from what it was with the leaked one, I dont know how to take pictures of my screen, or else I would, but trust me.. its the official one.. I work for vzw. it was passed around where I work shared from sd card to sd card.

I dont know why you guys always got to yell fake lol... I'd understand it if I was saying, OMG I have the only copy of 2.1, when everyone actually has a copy, all I'm saying is, as far as what I was told from the person who gave it to me, It is the official release. Again, It's snappier than the previously leaked version, battery life seems better, I haven't played around with it to see if anything is added. Get more HTC widgets link works now, again, I dont have to keep logging in to gmail.

THIS IS THE 2.1 Leak V2... I am also running this kernel version... I installed it 2 days ago. You have another leaked BETA
 
So I just finished reading most of this thread to try to find an answer to this but I couldn't find it.

Is anyone noticing a difference in signal strength? Before the upgrade I was getting a full solid 5 bars but now it goes between 1-3 maybe 4 on occasion. Is this a bug with the second leaked 2.1 ROM? I was reading earlier in this thread that charging for a minute in airplane mode then restarting fixes it? Can someone please help me? :)
 
Had to stop by Verizon earlier this week and just for the hell of it, I asked one of the employees when was the Eris going to get 2.1. His reply, " Uh.........I don't know!":eek:

So I uninstalled Lock 2.0 and I immediately got better service and my phone stopped glitching. Because before sometimes my home screen would just be black.

And that's the best and most honest response an in store rep or any CSR can give you at this point. There is another thread about some really idiotic responses from reps who just plain made stuff up.

Edit: Did you go to the Fayetteville store or the Peachtree City one?

Do you live right under a tower. I'm on 1.5 and have yet to see over 3 bars. Oh and I've never dropped a call.
 
Was at a Verizon store the other day looking for some accessories. I showed the sales guy 2.1 running on my Eris. He accused me of being a hacker, then said that several of the staff also have the leak. Oh how I wish VZW would communicate better with it's staff and customers.

Fayette ! Was at the PTC location a couple of weeks ago and I could have sworn their prices were higher ! :eek:

Excuse my ignorance if any, I'm new, long time blackberry fan, first droid.... Not three first time ive had to wait for an OS update that probably wont change much.

ya, 2.1 "coming soon" according to OP.....Its been a month already since this thread began....great insight :rolleyes:

Verizon is well known for breaking promises. Just look at the LG Dare app fiasco where Verison promised apps for the LG Dare and nothing came to be. LG Dare users were enraged. Same thing is going to happen with the Eris.

2.1 is not coming. The phone is already discontinued.
