***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Only in the first couple weeks until third parties start discounting the Nexus phone.

I'm hoping for that! :) I'm not eligible for upgrade until January 18th and if the Prime is the phone on Verizon that we are hoping it will be, and there isn't a more enticing phone on the market or "RIGHT around the corner" then I would love to pick one up for $100 or less! I have paid top dollar for too many devices and I'm going to TRY to not be a launch day guy anymore. The phones just get discounted so quickly anymore that if you can hold out for 3 months, there are lots of deals available. But holding out is the hardest thing for a tech stooge like me to do...

You're right, and no need to discuss further. And sorry for getting you in trouble. :o

Thanks for being thoughtful...Steven seems like all hugs and kisses in public forums but I'm glad I don't owe him any money!

J/K about Steven :)...He rocks and he really is THAT nice of a guy ;)

Just read up on the Spyder/RAZR/whatever again. I forgot it's only a qHD screen. So that's out.

Prime, come on, you sexy little thing. . .come on, that's it. . .that's it. . .

Engadget says the Spyder has a super AMOLED screen.

**ck waves HanSolo back into the Prime room and sternly warns him "Now if another device is announced soon you will NOT immediately jump on it's bandwagon. This changing your mind as soon as the wind blows is not how we do things in here. . Do that again and you will be thrown out of here for good. Understand? Ok Good....Get back in here." **

Do a search of injunctions and court battles between these two all around the world over the last 6 months....its a big deal

Yep.. They are going after the SGSII, etc.. and that may have a impact on the Prime.

I guess we will hear more on Friday 10-14-11.

Prime w/Pentile HD versus RAZR w/RGB qHD would be a wash, but I'd rather wait for ICS at this point.

The curved glass will mean a greater degree of privacy when viewing the screen. I have not heard that one.

Why don't they just use the Bionic screen, nobody can read that from anywhere! :p

Some other impressive features are 1GB of RAM and the TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. Probably, it would be just like the usual anticlimactic realities of this business with us hearing of a possible 1.5 GHz.

Y'know, if that is true then they could easily do a rolling upgrade later on when the full 1.5GHz 4460 is finally ready -- no die shrink, no changed features to worry about. Nexus Prime Turbo?

It is very possible that citizens worldwide will fail to drop to their knees and genuflect when Prime is released, but I'm pretty damn certain most of us 100,000+ viewers here will be sufficiently impressed when it is. Well, y'know, until the next superphone comes out.

Well, there are actually only 9 of us on this forum. Han Solo and Cereal Killer make all the other posts.

Why, thank you, cereal killer. Did I ever tell you I LOVE befriending cereal killers? Especially those who get away with things as much as you do?

I hope the NP has the 8mp camera with the improved sensor. It seems that a lot of IP4S buyers state that they upgraded or bought because of the camera and SIRI. Now the Apple promo video and paper on SIRI was brilliant. It looks like it will be wonderful. First, you have to touch the SIRI icon each time you want to ask it something, because if it was on continuously, it would consume battery, and it is still a Beta. The ad with the guy running asking Siri to do stuff is very slick. I doubt it will work anywhere near that well. Google Voice needs to do an upgrade and integrate more into the OS. I always liked to be able to enter voice instructions into my Google maps. The "call Harry", usually came back, " Did you say call Mary?".

Moto's big announcement is on the 18th. Nothing new but just the flyer for the event

Motorola and Verizon holding press event October 18th, smartphones and tablets inbound

I suspect there is going to be some ticked off bionic owners. "Why didn't they do this for the Bionic!!" ROARRRRRRRR

Exactly what I thought. I clicked over to the Bionic threads, but I've lost the desire to put a magnifying glass over those poor ants. They'll be disappointed, poor guys, but if I were them I'd just ignore it.

I do feel bad for them. I really liked YankeeDudeL

It's still in Beta? Wow. They made such a huge deal about it at the unveiling. . .I thought Google Voice was just phone and text. Does it have an assistant like Siri?

I know there are a lot of people that could use it. In my case, it'd be more of a gimmick than anything else. I just don't like talking to machines.

...found this on the web - file it under the "Things That Make You Go Hmmmm...." category:

Google and Samsung just postponed the launch of a device for a reason that is completely unrelated to themeselves. The companies did this while Apple itself didn't skip a beat and continued on with its own plans, announcing the iPhone 4S likely while Jobs was on his deathbed (and they all knew the end was near), and began pre-orders on Friday. Wouldn't you think if any company should postpone a launch, it would have been Apple, not Samsung?

Could the Prime simply not be ready, and combined with the death of Steve Jobs gave the two companies a good enough reason to back off on the launch altogether? It seems crazy, especially considering the amount of hype surrounding Samsung's device. But to solely place your reasoning for delaying a product based on somebody's death that really has no bearing to you rings hollow.

But would Steve have done it?

YankeeDudeL is a cool guy. He and I go all the way back to the LG Dare forums back in in 2008

But you know, you gotta get off the train at one station or another because, in cell phone tech, there is no end of the line. He got off at the Bionic station. I hope he's happy there, I really do.

But I think the majority of us saw what was coming down the tracks and we have decided to jump off at the Prime station. Will we have buyer's remorse when the RAZR/whatever-other-cool-things-are-coming start actually showing up? It'll be hard not to... but, like I said, you gotta jump the train at some point or you'll be riding this thing forever.

I think we'll be perfectly happy with the Prime for the duration of our contracts (or in my case a year). Let the others ride on!

Jobs would never allow the announcement to be delayed. You know him and Cook had that conversation. On his death bed he probably grabbed Cook by the collar pulled him in real close and said "You cancel this announcement I'll haunt you for life"
