I called Bestbuy here to ask if I could see the demo unit since I have to pick up a camera I bought the other day. The guy was cool, said he too was waiting on the Nexus, but he said he did not have a demo units, but had boxes of them in the back just waiting for Verizon to give them the go ahead. FWIW.

Google Wallet isn't a standard ICS feature at all. It's not available on the GSM Unlocked Galaxy Nexus. It's not a part of the AOSP, meaning that Google, Verizon, nor anyone else is "stripping" it from ICS or the Galaxy Nexus. Look up the source code on Google's own site. Google Wallet is NOT in there. Google Wallet is a Sprint-exclusive application, only found on the Sprint Nexus S 4G, a carrier branded, subsidized phone. If you were to take a GSM unlocked, unbranded, Galaxy Nexus or Nexus S, only hook it up to WIFI, go into the Android Market and search for Google Wallet, you will not find it.

There are no legal proceedings or talks or otherwise. For whatever reason, this is a Sprint-only feature. I have no idea why anyone would think a Sprint feature would be on a Verizon phone, or why it is the cause of the hang up.

Where is there an announcement of an exclusive with Sprint? Google specifically stated Wallet isn't on the VZW GNex because VZW requested it not be. Also VZW said they were still in commercial negotiations about it. That means negotiations about money. It's not on the unlocked GSM Nexi because Google doesn't support international phones with wallet right now, it's US only.

I LOVED going to those with my Dad when I was little. I think I went till I was about 10 or 11 even. He set a good standard, I'm sure you will too. Have fun!!

No worries. My comment was not geared toward you, only the other member who tried to make it into an issue that it didn't need to be. I've already reported him. You're all good. The only thing I said to you was to give you a hard time for referring to the continent of Africa as a country. LOL.

Puppy/work stuff
So one of my pups was up all night puking from her vaccine she got on Tuesday. She had a reaction last time, but not this bad. She's miserable, poor little girl. She hasn't eaten since last night (and then she would only have bananas) and every time she drinks a lot of water she throws it up today.
But I had to work, so she is at home with her Daddy and sister, hopefully starting to feel better. Then I get to go home and care for her while doing homework and he heads to work. We are not getting anything done on the house today, that is for sure. :(
Her sister is taking good care of her too - she's barely eating either, out of sympathy it seems. She's such a sweetie. We really are so lucky to have some of the best pets ever. It's awful seeing her like this - I'm terrified of having an actual child get sick now if seeing the puppy like this makes me so sad.
And I'm stuck here at work. Watching the forum and transcribing CNN 9/11 footage for a film that's already shot, so they can add this stock footage dialogue to the script. Dumbest job ever.

Steven, I hope your wifey is feeling better!
And my condolences to those who loved and lost today on their Nexus adventures.

Weehawken here buddy, 5 blocks from the lincoln tunnel. But I work in New Brunswick. That Secaucus Verizon is horrible btw. I went in there to get a replacement for my piece of garbage BB about six weeks ago and it took an hour and forty minutes... and there was no line in front of me. The reps acted like I was bothering them, interrupting their conversations. So f'in weak!!
 
Hey everyone.. First time here. I've been readinig for awhile and decided whats one more pissed off blogger? I wanted to share my experiences in Upstate New York, Syracuse area...

I work near a "non corporate" or "retail" store. I decided to walk over on lunch just to see what they had to say. A rep there said the same as all of you have been saying about the 9th release. BUT, he said they "recalled" it??? He said he had been in the buisness for 15 yrs and had never seen a phone get recalled "twice" and said that he was going to get it himself but since it has been "recalled" he wasn't going to. He also said "I wouldn't get that phone if I were you" He said it must have bugs and that its ridiculous that people are saying it was a 4g problem.

..... Soooooo now I don't know what to think. Has anyone heard the word "recalled" used yet? Does anyone have any solid info on the exact reason for the delay?

long thread.. sorry if this has been talked about already.
 
Someone posted pages upon pages ago regarding the contents of the costco accessories goodie bag. The user said something for the car was included. Does anyone know if that included accessory is the car mount?

In other news, I just called my local costco (I'm in north-central jersey close to a few of you) and was told they have not received any GN shipments, nor accessories, which i was told will come with the phones (not sure I buy that)

I went too. I'm a total Dady's Girl. And few have come close to the standard he set. I hope you know youre doing an awesome thing atrain!

Is it a rule that you must say (regardless of merit) that Android is less streamlined? How?! How is this not nicer than the boring and permanent "grid"

Also - "The home screen is my least favorite part of the entire OS: it not only permits messiness, it encourages it. There are still five home screens, and you can't change that number. I never saw the need for more than one or two; the complete list of apps is one tap away, so why do you need to litter five homescreens with widgets and multiple redundant shortcuts?"

Welcome! No-one knows what is really going on with the phone, but the phone has NOT been recalled. Our most reliable sources are saying the delays are purely for commercial reasons, no problems with the phone. I posted my opinion on it. But this phone is awesome, don't think twice about it if you think you want it.

i've never tried the secaucus store and i'm not crazy about the newport store either. hoboken has been the best one so far. i've been going to them for the last 2 years. very friendly and helpful and it rarely gets crowded.
 
interesting that the anon member who scored one wasnt prompted for an update, but sammax stated he was immediately prompted for one. iirc, one of the leaks stated that customers would be prompted to update within 2 hours of turning on the device.... so anon please keep us updated if anything changes

Their goodies included a car charger, screen protector and a carrying-pouch of some sort.
 
Hmmm so no prompt for update -- strange. I wonder if it was supposed to go TO 4.0.1 or to 4.0.2 as the initial OTA update.

Not really thinking about the phone much today -- today was omelet day at work and I have been working with a consultant pretty much on and off all day.
