WE'RE WAITING FOR SOME BLURRYCAM! I can't undarstund one thing:
This phone is finished and completely polished, ready to ship - and we know a lot of peaple had it in their hands, now this device is bein sent to some hq, or another places. It's being prepared now for announcment and SOME PEAPLE ARE ABLE TO TAKE A SHOT! What are they wainting for?! We're waitin here!!!

I wanted to come back to this after reading Anandtech's review of the SGS2.

The 4460 does NOT have the SGX544. It is just a higher bin of the 4430 with the SGX540.

The 4470 has the SGX544, which is most definitely NOT a slightly improved version of the 540. The SGX544 is the 45nm version of the 65nm SGX543 in the iPad2.. it's at least twice as fast as the SGX540 and the only thing even in the same ballpark as the Mali400 in the SGS2.

If the Prime is OMAP-based, as is believed so far.. I think it HAS to be OMAP4470.

The only other SoC options are:
* Exynos -- Mali400 an excellent GPU, disappointing that LTE remains discrete
* OMAP4460/4430 -- SGX540 is a regression re: the competition (Adreno 220, Mali400), discrete LTE integration would be the same specs as Bionic
* Qualcomm Krait -- an interesting possibility with an 28nm SoC integrated LTE baseband and an excellent Adreno 225 GPU

Some food for thought there.. Krait is the only one that can deliver good performance on an HD screen AND low LTE power usage..

Hey guys, as I noticed most of you have OG DROID, i conceived an idea to post here my last art I made about Droid. In the video it's called Milestone, because Droid is restricted for Verizon in US, and Milestone has locked bootloader, so there is a big problem to flash any new ROMs into it. Some guy figured out how to flash Gingerbread into this phone, and I was veeery happy about it. Created this video, as I'm 3D graphics hothead. Enjoy, and post some comments about it, what do you think? ;>

Thanks for update on SGS2 performance. Exynos is still looking impressive except triangle performance.

I already admitted that it was my mistake claim that OMAP 4460 has SGX544. But 4470 has that GPU. Though it will be nice to have 4470 in Prime, leaks so far seem to indicate it's 4460.

I still don't see where you got the info of people testing it. I've looked. How about linking to it?

Yea, sorry about that.. I quoted your post not really to criticize you for that but just as a jumping off point for a discussion about possible SoC options for the Prime.

I think SGX540 + HD screen will result in pretty disappointing performance.. I'd honestly rather have the HTC Vigor at that point, Adreno 220 is a little closer to capable for the almost 2.5x increase in screen pixels vs WVGA and almost double of qHD.

I'm not so sure about that. Looking at the benchmarks you quoted, 1Ghz OMAP4430 did slightly worse than 1.2Ghz Exynos but a little better or on par with 1.2Ghz snapdragon s3 (Evo3D, Sensation). OMAP4460 will have 50% bump in CPU clock and its SGX540 GPU will have higher clock than GPU in 4430 as well. So I don't see how 4460+HD in Prime is worse than s3+HD in Vigor.

If I could find it now in my hostory. I looked into it, but there are too many websites listed - I have no idea how to find it. I can tell you one VEERY exciting report (which I was especially looking for at the moment, but - fail):
Some guy wrote in the article or blog he spoke to his friend, who talked to some another employee working for some wireless carrier or something, and he gave him Prime to toy with. He said it rocks, and is reeeaally great. I remember one thing he quoted: "I didn't want to give it back because it was so great".

Sorry I can't link it, I've visited this site few days ago, and I can't remember now where it was ..

Oh, that's a good point.. I had not considered the increased clock in the 4460. That's a considerable boost there..

I don't know. It sounds nice, but I haven't seen it anywhere else, so who knows.

But I agree that the sooner we get some leaked pics, the better.
 
I bought the Bionic today. Thoughts:

1. I don't think that the Prime will be much better than Bionic in speed and smoothness. This is one buttery phone.

2. This Bionic screen sucks big time.

I'm torn on returning it and waiting for Prime or Vigor, or settling in with this thing for 2 years. Do you guys honestly have any idea how long the wait will be? What's the general agreement?

Pretty sure I'd be very happy w/the 4460. I'm not a gamer and don't care about 3D, and I have a hard time believing that any current GPU has trouble pushing around 2D blocks of pixels even on an HD screen. My guess is that any perceived UI delays or sluggishness would be due to things like Blur or TouchWiz rather than GPU chipset.

If it is clocked higher then it may be be smoother. IC is suppose to have real dual core support so I think it may be smoother. A native OS like Gingerbread and now IC, I think it will be smoother.
 
2 years is a long time to hold onto something you settled for, especially when you will look at that screen every day.

I played with the bionic, today, at the store. It is indeed one solid phone. It's nice.. Just enjoy it! :D
