@Black_man_x sais it will be announced in october, and shipped in november. It makes me satisfied. Nothing makes me more impatient as curiousity of ICS and it's UI. :D

Ugh more waiting.

I am starting to wonder if I will always just have my brick phone and no smart phone, since i will always be waiting for the latest and greatest to come out.

I honestly think that the Vigor will have beautiful specs, and will be tempting, but...I don't want to be stuck with a phone that has 4 useless capacitive buttons.

Excellent point!

We hardcore seasoned veterans of Android wait...Some of us have tried others and fell back to the OG Droid to wait.

Haven't moved on from OGD since release day, but it's going to be a close race to see if it dies before or after Verizon's Prime releases. Almost bought the Bionic twice, but I'm hoping it can make it until the Prime drops.

Something about buying a phone (OGD ~ Prime) specifically made for a major OS upgrade (Eclair ~ ICS) with top of the line spec's to keep it running future releases (Froyo->Gingerbread ~ Jelly Bean->Kumquats (it's not a desert, but i love that word)) just feels right.

Agreed. I would've been completely happy w/SGS2 on Verizon, but Prime as expected w/ICS sounds killer.

Wasn't there someone's sister who said SGS2/VZW wasn't happening but something else comparable or slightly better was coming? Prime w/HD screen, 1.5GHz+ OMAP4, and ICS is a lot more than slightly better.

No, no I'm not a first responder. I was being facetious. But I did tell my wife "Wait, hold on" when she was about to cross the street the other day in downtown Chicago. She was texting and was about to walk onto a busy steet. At my heroic warning, however, she stopped (although continued texting without looking up). If I had said nothing, she would have been in a hundred slimy pieces.

Does that count?

I am a first responder Han,, and got to say every little bit helps.. so Ill give your credit for that. And it save someone from a lot of paper.

Didn't Tbolt JUST come out in April??? I would have thought that they would have waited at least a year instead of pissing everybody off just 6 months later!

I had to remove all temptation. I unsubscribed from the Bionic forum threads and the VZW email newsletter. I am getting my Prime news now from this forum.

Is there a "waiting for the phone" version of "the potty dance"?

No, I think it was in mid-March. But it makes sense that the "Vigor" isn't going to be its launch name and they'd want to keep the Incredible and Thunderbolt lines going. Incredible already has a "2", and Thunderbolt pissed off so many people that they probably want to replace that with a better experience, like they're doing with Revolution and Revolution 2 for LG.

That's just my opinion, though. I'm just the messenger.

11/11/11 does have a cool ring to it, maybe that's why they chose it. But also keep in mind that she says "Shooting for". So it's not definite. But giving such a specific date is encouraging.

Edit: I did text her back asking about Tbolt 2. I'll post if/when she replies. She doesn't reply to all of my texts. Very annoying, but I guess she's super busy, too.

Edit 2:
I looked at a calendar and saw that 11/11/11 is a Friday and Verizon releases on Thursday, so "shooting for" carries more significance. I've texted her about that, too.

11/11/11 is a Friday. Veterans Day, too. Doesn't Verizon normally release new phones on Thursdays?

But I guarantee you this: if it DOES drop on that Friday, I'll be at the Verizon store long before I have to deliver my Veterans Day speech at 11:11 AM :)

Well... good news is it's a Thursday and at least we get it before the Black Friday crowd hits the stores :)

Bad news is that 2 more months away :(

Thanks for the news, HanSolo!

Thanks Hans! It does make sense I guess but man I would think that would piss off a lot of people that are stuck with their 2 yr contracts and even more with the people that are stuck with 2 yr contracts and a tiered data plan!

Oh well!! Bring on some Prime ICS goodness!!! =P~~~~

No problem, buddy. But do notice that she says it is replacing the Tbolt, so she is assuming it's called Tbolt 2. Whatever it turns out to be called, though, I think it will mean a discontinuation of the Thunderbolt and more emphasis on this newer one.

I am disappointed with the semi-late November date, I was still holding out hope for October. I texted her asking "How definite is 11/17?" but she hasn't texted me back.

Kind of shocked that the Vigor will get Thunderbolt naming without the Droid moniker. With the power that thing is packing you'd think it would necessitate Verizon's flagship status...unless something that same month will be their flagship phone? :p

Just to be clear, what my sister is saying is that the next super-phone from HTC will be replacing the Thunderbolt.

She is merely assuming that it will be called the Tbolt 2. Perhaps she has heard that the Thunderbolt will be discontinued, and so this might be the second iteration. If it's the Thunderbolt 2, I'm sure it will still carry the Droid moniker. If not, it will be called something else.

Does Verizon use a Droid moniker to all smartphones which are better than the other? Come one, not all devices get this name. Only moto and one device from sammy as for now!

Can we get a sticky thread that only gets posted in when something official gets released. All of these rumors toy with my emotions, don't think I can deal with this thread anymore.

Good point. For some reason I thought the Thunderbolt had a "Droid" before the name, but of course it doesn't.

I think the true flagship phone of the year will be the Prime. I know the Bionic certainly wasn't marketed in that way. Commercials for the Revolution and Xoom were more plentiful than what the Bionic ones have been so far.

:D

I agree that these rumors are horrible on our psyches. But this ride should only last about 60 more days.

An "official" sticky can be created, I'm sure, but it will be quite empty for at least 45 days, I'm guessing.
