Ok, so while we've all been focused on the delay being a Google Wallet/ISIS battle...it IS very possible that Verizon realized the battery life was soooo horrific that they were prepping a patch that will be released in conjunction with the phone (to avoid returns on the phone). Just saying...it's a VERY REAL possibility as many people on this thread have said their sources have confirmed it was a bug that caused the delay. (I know, there were equally a number of people who had sources that confirmed it was a Wallet/ISIS battle). We may never know...but this battery WOULD be a big issue.

I'm not being argumentative, but there is a huge difference between the word 'leak' and the word 'rumor'. The former can be much more associated with accurate info whereas the latter can be anything from urban myth to fact.

I sincerely appreciate Steven changing that word. IMO it dramatically changes peopel's expectations when just scanning the thread title to see a capsule version of he 'latest & greatest'. :)

I understand, and I agree that leak and rumor mean two different things, usually.

But the reason I'm fine with the interchangeable use of the two in this case is because I truly believe the leaks are credible. But, VZW has the final say, and as we saw with the 9th, they can and will delay it (for whatever reason).

I absolutely believe it is in fact a credible leak. I also firmly believe the upper management at VZW doesn't even know if they are going to release this phone on the 15th.

Battery life on 4G devices is typically horrendous. If you switch over to 3G only or use Wifi when available it will extend battery life by a great deal. When I had the Rezound it was getting only 3 or 4 hours in 4G all the time. When I started forcing it to 3G when in a bad 4G area or staying on Wifi at home then the battery would last me almost 14 or 15 hours with moderate to high use.

Wow, I was getting about 8-10 hours of 4G on my Rezound with moderate use. But I'm wondering if there's a better extended battery for the GNex than the one that only gives about 20% more capacity?

See the thing is if I buy a 4g phone I want to use 4g though. If I turn off 4g all the time what's the point?

I totally agree, but you'll realize that in technology there will always be major tradeoffs. For example higher clocked processor speeds = more heat=more power consumption. Reducing clock speeds can also result in better battery performance if you don't need to work horse your processor.

Edit: This is also why gaining access to root is sometimes really important.

Hello all,
I just tried my luck at the $100 Promo flyer too, but didn't get it. I know everybody is getting tired of all of the I got it or I didnt get it($100 Promo) posts, but I just wanted to share what I did get. As I stated I had no luck with getting the promo honored, but I did get my early upgrade fee waived, a $30 discount off any 4g phone and $10 off my monthly bill for a year!

Also the CRS I talked to also said the Gnex is supposedly dropping Thrusday! I also asked a store manager/friend and she says she is hearing the 15th is a go as well!
I don't have much to contribute but there's my little happy story :)

Doesn't seem to me battery life is any worse than other high end 4G phones. Doubt that's the reason. Plus with this one, the extended battery barely changes the overall appearance.

I'm sure Seidio et al will release one. :) But beware, I saw an excellent write up comparing various "extended" batteries, and many were WAY off on their reported mAh. In one case there was a Seidio battery that was reported at 3500 mAh or something and was measured to be more like 2100. I'll dig up the link.

If Verizon was at all concerned about battery life, they wouldn't have released the Thunderbolt.

Anyway, I don't understand why people are saying battery life is horrific?? Almost 4 hours of straight usage is pretty darn good for a 4G phone. Are you guys confusing this with standby time?

None of us really know the reason/s behind the delay but battery life isn't a realistic reason to delay a phone. Historically VZ has released several phones (Incredible, Thunderbolt, first two that came to mind - both I purchased) and battery life on those were pretty terrible. I don't see it being the battery life as a reason for delay.

everyone should realize that testman being down doesnt mean anything anymore. their havent been any leaks gained from there in quite some time

We don't need them to know it!
We just need the store managers to know it. ;)

More to throw on the fire...really no need to preface it anymore after this. Everything in this thread is pretty much "FWIW". ;)

This tweet is from JFMFT, user from the Android Central forums whose partner is a Verizon corporate store employee. He was responding to some Android developers (Kejar, bigxie, etc). JFMFT was the one who leaked the full e-mail for one of the leaked targeted dates a few weeks ago. Obviously, things changed...
https://twitter.com/#!/JFMFT

@JFMFT
@kejar31 it's coming on Thursday. Corp sent another marketing email about it to employees today. Infomanager shows 12/15 again, too.
@bigxie Verizon sent out an email to marketing employees - 15th is the launch date. It's in infomanager, too, just added a few hours ago.
@bigxie My boyfriend is a VZW corporate employee signed up for the marketing emails (OMM). I has good infos.
@PydePypper Only select employees have access to OMM and thus are signed up for the marketing emails. Sounds like you got a "regular" rep
@PydePypper sometimes even managers are clueless, but the OMM/Marketing designated rep for the store has better information.
@PydePypper I get that. I've never been misinformed by my partner who is my source. But you wouldn't expect your significant other to lie.
@PydePypper I got a text at 4pm from him saying the 15th is showing in infomanager and that he had received an email from OMM on it too.

Personally, I'd like to see these shots of this e-mail and infomanager. Oh well, we shall see!

just txted my rep at a corporate vzw store, and he said he doesn't know when their going on sale or how many they've got in stock but he will set one aside for me! that's great because i have a final thursday morning and won't be able to hit up the store till 1 pm or so. :)

its still thursday right?

Thursday is still a rumor, yes.

Where the hell were you guys when I needed someone for my Algorithms and data structures analysis class

I am not that good. :P Also, my language knowledge is limited to Java, python, Matlab and very basic VBA. I am working to make it better (the number of engineers that cannot program is astounding...you would think that it would be a semi-necessary skill) to beef up my resume.

And now that I'm sucked in, I called a bunch of Radio Shack stores in San Diego, most of them have plenty in stock and will not sell until the 15th.

All Verizon stores gave no info.

BB Mobile's have in stock, played with one, friggin fantasmic. I almost cried on the screen but the manager took it away from me.
