Oh, and, I still don't believe it until I hear it straight from the unicor...erm...horse's mouth, but this is the best leak we've seen so far. Also, I visited two verizon stores in my area today. One of them was full of idiots who gave me the runaround. At the other, the guy who was at the sign in kiosk chuckled when I asked about it and said he didn't know anything, while a floor rep said she was waiting to buy one, too, and said that she heard that the 15th was a go as far as she knew. I called back to ask if they could hold one for me, and they said that didn't do holds at their store, so I guess I'll be camping out Thursday morning if all is officially a go from VZW.

Almost all with the screen on though. Most people don't have the screen on that much. For example, I use my phone a lot and only have about an hour of screen on time over the last 6+ hours. Battery life is all about how you use the phone and the settings.
Oh i agree that you'll get way more than 3hours on normal use. I'm just saying that based on those figures, that even on normal use it'll be on the lower end. Although I have no figures to back up my assumption. hah

You'll notice the phone was fighting for signal throughout those 3 hours, and the screen was on the majority of the time, both of which really drain battery life. If you live in a place where signal is consistent, it should last you a lot longer, especially in standby.
Good call on the signal strength. Is it the faint yellow that indicates low signal strength? It would be interesting to see if cggorman is located in an area with supposedly strong 4G (or maybe Verizon's LTE is still not back to 100%)

Just in case anybody is curious...

...and...Regarding the battery life question from earlier...

Wow, 3 hours... crazy. I understand everyone's concerns, though IIRC cggorman's GNex is still on version 4.0.1, right? I think we know that subsequent updates like 4.0.3 and 4.1 are primarily concerned with updates to the LTE radio and battery life, so hopefully that will improve matters significantly.

Now, if you all don't mind, I need some help from our more technically inclined members - my girlfriend's father wants an awesome new TV for his man cave for the holidays. He'd like 45 inches or more, HD but not plasma. I know we were just discussing good brands and models earlier, so hopefully someone can help out. They're splitting the cost of the TV between several of them, but would still like to keep the cost reasonable. Can anyone make some suggestions? :) Thanks in advance.

I'm sure Seidio et al will release one. :) But beware, I saw an excellent write up comparing various "extended" batteries, and many were WAY off on their reported mAh. In one case there was a Seidio battery that was reported at 3500 mAh or something and was measured to be more like 2100. I'll dig up the link.

Wow, that's crazy! I can't believe that Sammy won't release a beefier battery for it.

You are probably better off waiting for the next generation of LTE radios then, which I imagine will improve dramatically.

If they trend at all like ATSC tuners did, you can count on huge improvements. Holy jeez, those 1st Gen tuners were huge, slow, and ran hot.

I think that 3hr 20min is with screen on most of time. It will do much longer on standby. And that depends a lot on the apps running and sync settings. Also we don't know if his nexus battery went through couple of first drain/charge cycles already or not. Like you said, it will probably improve with updates coming.

I want to thank you sooooooo much for the change!!!!!!! It was keeping me up nights!!!!!!! :p:p:p:p:p (sarcasm)

So now that the title says rumor, I guess I'll call my corp store rep and cancel my appointment for Thursday morning. I didn't want the dang thing anyway!!!!!
:D

PS - elect Steven58 for 2012!!!!!

Now now, be nice.

So my wife wants to say a few words to the group later tonight. She has to think of a screen name first.

Any ideas?

This is a little off topic but my original Droid took a crap on me, and I am without a phone until the Nexus comes out.. :(

My backup is a non-smart phone. If I activate this phone will it screw anything up with my plan or anything since it is not a data phone?

Thanks
