Called the 43rd St. store and he confirmed that they would be selling it tomorrow when they open at 8:30. Which means I'll be fiddling with my new Nexus all morning before I leave for the party.

I won't be able to get ANYTHING done tomorrow. What a shame.

I know you don't know me well but do you think you could please ask her if it will be for sale online and via phone tomorrow? This is imporant for some of us that have corporate accounts whose companies are only willing to order from their Verizon reps and online. If you don't think she would know then nevermind, but this is a concern of mine and I don't know if I need to try to work out some kind of exception with my company or what...

I posted this question a couple hours ago when the forum crashed like crazy... I didn't see any answers (I figure no one saw it 'cause of the crash) so I wanted to ask again...

How are Verizon's cases? I know everyone here is buying the TPU cases; I was just wondering if there was some reason to buy that over getting a case at the store, aside from price (since I can get a discount at VZW)

I definitely do want a case. I'm sure I'll do better with something that I actually like and want to take care of than with my Intercept, but I've dropped that thing so many times...

I do not see VZW giving a press release today on the Nexus.
They did that over a month ago but did not give a release date.
 
I just got an email reply from my (ex)friend at corporate.

It echos what Hans' sister said a little.

12/15 is the day that I am seeing and hearing. Everyone still has a gag order about the device so the silence is expected. I have heard that they plan to push a full marketing campaign later on and this will be more of a quiet launch. I still have no idea why we can't talk about it, but it is something they are VERY serious about. If you post this on the internet like last time I am going to kick your ass.

BTW, I love asking sales people about this phone who know what's going on and are trying to keep the company line without ACTUALLY lying to you blatantly. Normally if you ask a Best Buy mobile salesperson or VZW salesperson about a soon to launch device they will just say something like they haven't got those in yet. The honest reps that are also mindful of the wishes of VZW to keep specifics of stock and such under wraps are very careful to say the device has not "went on sale" yet and it's quite obvious they are filtering and keeping all these little things under control. It's obvious they have stock when they aren't just saying "we haven't got those in yet". Even then, the ones that say they don't have them yet more specifically may just be more cavalier about lying for VZW.

I just called two of the four New Orleans area VZW corporate stores and a Best Buy Mobile.

The rep at BBM said that she thinks they'll be on sale tomorrow, but they've not received any stock yet.

The reps at both of the VZW corporate stores said that they will be selling them tomorrow and both wanted to know if I wanted to make an appointment in the morning. The first had to check for the info and the second answered immediately.

I called into corp store... and this is how it went...


ME - "Can I make an appointment to pickup a galaxy nexus tomorrow?"

HER - "Yes, what did you want to pickup again?"

ME - "a, gal-la-xy nexus"...

HER - "you sure can, what time would you like to come in?"

ME - "as early as possible"..

HER - "how about 9am"...

ME - "sure. thanks. see you then".

AND SO IT BEGINS...

I just called my local corp store on the north shore and he said they will definitely be selling tomorrow, first come first serve. He didn't even let me finish asking the question, just said, "Yup! I know what you're talking about. Just come on in and you and your brother will have it tomorrow"
 
Hello again all! I've gotten the last bit of sleep I'll be getting before going to get my Nexus! I was on here last night from 10PM until about 8 AM. I'm going to go back through and read what I can since page 1674ish (only 20 pages or so), but if anyone wants to summarize what I've missed (if anything), I'd be forever grateful. Any updates, good or bad?

Just sent her a text asking your question. I don't know if she will know the answer though.
 
This is EXACTLY like last Thursday before the "12/9" release. Some people saying yes... but ultimately the evidence shows that it's a no-go. We will make up an excuse tomorrow.

I'm not trying to be the downer of the group, but fool me once.. shame on me. You know how the rest of it goes. I actually have come so far with all of you, that I don't want to see yall hurt like it was last week.
 
wish they would announce it so I could go about annoying vzw on the phone until I can find a rep who will fedex overnight me one for tomorrow.

Some stores are going to sell one or two and then stop. Some aren't going to sell any at all and say it's not been released. All in all thousands will end up with them by Friday morning and 10's of thousands will be even more frustrated than before.

Hopefully it will force VZW's hand to issue the full release statement by Thursday night or first thing Friday morning opening the flood gates for everyone to get one. More than likely it will come out to the masses next week on Tuesday or Thursday.

I nominate this as one of the most sensible posts of the day. It's a plausible explanation of why we are getting wildly different stories, and what will happen tomorrow (soft launch, not all stores selling them). It doesn't of course explain Verizon's mystifying overall strategy when it comes to this phone.

Just called my local corp store, a guy I haven't spoken with yet (suprised there is anyone left) said we haven't heard anything...then I asked if he knew if the white Razr was launching tomorrow he said Yes that phone is launching the same time as the Nexus...I asked him if he knew Verizon sent out a PR today saying the W/Razr launches tomorrow he said "yep" and chuckled.

So they really do know but can't say anything...
