One thing that has really stuck out is this design. I can't imagine what kind of time that went into it. Next to my Inc it's gargantuan. However, when by itself in my hand it's not big at all. It boots up in what seems like an instant for those who benchmark their bootup times :p

got mine, walked in at 9:01 trying not to look like a dork. had been waiting in starbucks next door since 8. on my way out to leave a rep bumped into me and it flew but i was stealthy as shit and caught it like a foot above the ground.

edit* now i just need swype!
edit2* btw i tried ordering a coffee at starbucks, holy christ its like they've never had someone order a black coffee before.. "did you mean a venti blah blah blah." i don't know i want a coffee.

Aw, why'd you have to go and do that... I had almost gotten swype out of my mind. I was having fun with SlideIT, even though it's no where near as good as swype, but I was distracted at least.

Now I need swype. No beta for it?

So I just go back from VZW store and got my precious. I can't wait to get to know it better but that will have to wait until tonight (after work).

I wanted to say thank you to everybody on this forum! I know most don't know me since I've been relatively quite, but I am switching from a blackberry so I'm new to the Android experience and honestly don't have near the connection or knowledge of most the people here. What I would like to say is thank you ALL for sharing your information and knowledge, you have made this horrible release experience a joy and I will miss looking at this thread much more than I should have. I hope in time to learn enough about the Android system to someday repay my debt to those that are less informed but for now I say thank you!

And I have to say thank you to Steven, this is by far the best thread I have ever read with the best people involved and you are the one that kept it on track. Without you I'm sure this thread would have turned on itself long ago which we saw happen periodically, and which we can blame VZ for. One of my favorite moments was when you sent a pic from the samsung store playing w/ the phone! Never before have I been so happy for a complete stranger!

I plan on stopping by the watering hole periodically and getting to know more of you better and to learn things about my new obsession, but for now, it has been fun!

VZW corp store in Tysons Corner, VS is a zoo. They've sold 30 odd so far and there are 15 people in line, the phone is running hot, but they are saying they have stock to keep this up until at least lunchtime. Get here quick if you are coming!

does slideit work on the nexus? i'll use that for now if it does.

Hey guys, is anyone else finding that some whites are grayish? Or is it just me?

The Google word in the search box is white as can be, but the software buttons and web backgrounds are grayish?

Is this normal?

Alright, time for a slight bummer....I know they will be coming.
I only get 1 bar of 4G in my apartment when my Bionic gets 4 :(
I'll do a speed test later today and see how they pan out.
Also, my prelim phone call to my wife from inside RS was not the best of audio quality (compared to my Droid and Bionic).
So I have any qualms of getting this phone though.
HELL NO
:D
FWIW, someone reported that the Gnex is pessimistic reporting signal strength. In other words, it may report only one bar, but may be equivalent to other phones 3 bars.

The "bars" are arbitrary. Only real measure is signal strength.

Yes, it is the theme. The reviews said it was a gray and blue color scheme...

So after logging on with the google acct, it didn't start to download all my apps. Not a big deal, since I'll install most stuff with Titanium, but curious why it didn't work. I did have backup and restore option checked on my previous phone.

Curious.

Picked mine up in West Hartford CT this morning, 12 of us in line. Another 10 showed up while my phone was activating. CSR said this was more than the iPhone 4/4S launches. Said they were going to run out of phones soon.

It's an addiction! I can't stay away no matter how painful it is. I can't! It makes me feel like this!

Same here. Not sure why.

How did you get them to do that?? I live n So Cal and have the OG Droid...

It's going to vary from CSR to CSR. Some are more helpful than others. If you are not able to get them to help you with this, then call 611 again and say "cancel my account". The next CSR will help you.

Another conversational tip when it comes to CSRs, don't state what you want from them as the opening line. Start with "I would like to upgrade my phone to the Galaxy Nexus.... (allow the CSR to begin processing the order) "btw, I have this discount...." Once you got the CSR committed to the order, it is more likely they will be more diligent in getting the right answers for you.
