I've always had a love/hate relationship with threads like this. The excitement factor is great and people getting all hyped up about the latest and greatest can be really cool to see. The relationships that develop as people await their next dream phone or an update can last forever as well. The problem I have usually comes from the counterpoint to this euphoric feeling that everyone gets where people start to become very angry or even depressed when something goes wrong. I hate that part. Not because people get upset, but because it usually leads to people saying or doing things that they wish they hadn't.

I'm asking very nicely that everyone please keep their heads and remember that we are all friends here. There isn't any reason to say something disrespectful towards one of your fellow members. I can say that, as staff, we are impressed with how civil things are in this thread and we encourage you all to keep it up.

On a final note I just want to remind everyone that the biggest hump is something we are over. The phone has been announced and a carrier has been announced. While we have not seen an official release date for Verizon, we do know it is coming.

I think we need to accept any delay past the 17th is a delay by Samsung, especially if they are also being delayed across the pond. Here is what I am thinking at this moment (assuming the 17th is not still a go, and everything else is just some evil people screwing with us). Samsung notified their carriers and retailers this weekend that they have a very limited supply. Since they have already commited to releasing in UK first, the limited supply of GSM version will go there to their preferred carriers. Verizon being the sole provider of the LTE version, is doing a web-only sale on the 21st, to better control the supply they have. The in-store date has been pushed back to when Samsung has told them they will have a better supply. This lines up with every leak and tidbit of info, and explains why the 17th date all of the sudden disappeared.

I don't think the GSM delay across the pond, if there even is one (not confirmed by Samsung at this point) has anything to do with ours. There is going to be A LOT more demand, globally, for the GSM model, since that is the global standard. You probably have a ton of people from all different countries around the world preordering it and paying full price with plans to import it to their carrier. I can't imagine the same would be true about the CDMA/LTE variant. Demand for a device that only runs on a few networks around the world has to be less than demand for a device that will run on most any network around the globe. UNLESS there is a supply problem for a common part such as the screen or what have you, however Panda claims this to be not the case and that Verizon is not backordered

Just my 2 cents. But bottom line, we'll get it when we get it. ;)

Hope so, Han.

I think there's no point in trying to guess any longer when this phone will be released. It will be released when it's released.

It's turned out to be a pretty "pointless" thing to do, and most likely will continue to be so.

We should all just sit back and wait for the announcement from VZW, that's my opinion anyway ;)

Likelihood of this? Slim and none. :D

(although I do agree)

Have we seen anything come through FCC yet? I don't remember seeing anything about it but I miss chunks at a time of what happens in here. (Got to do a little bit of work now and then :))

Marketing of the SGN reminds me of the original Droid. Hype, then more hype. I will take my chances waiting for it. Seems easier than a marathon or trying to take BB's whip away. ;)

Euro one is through, VZW one, not yet. But probably just a carrier hold request. Should see it any day.

But how will we get to 30k posts if we stop guessing???

Nope -- nothing came through Friday afternoon.

I can double check now, but Samsung doesn't usually post stuff until 5-6PM.

I'm still disappointed in the fact that Android has no (non-root) way of transferring app data over to a new device.

I have to say I agree with you. Even if it was just SD card back up of some sort, it would be nice. I'm glad to does transfer the stuff it does though.

This thread reminds me of the Incredible thread...

I remember a new member visiting saying he had opened a new Verizon store and a HTC rep told him when the Incredible was supposed to come out, most people doubted him including myself because he was one of the many members that claimed to know inside info that in the end turned out to be completely true.

So I guess you never know what member might actually know something we don't. Take it with a grain of salt...but still take it.
