Do not send this out yet. I will post back later today or in the morning.

Hey guys, when I suggested the email idea...the idea was to communicate on behalf of being verizon customers, not forum members. But the numbers of people come from these multiple forums ... keep that in mind ... Verizon should know this email comes from THEIR CUSTOMERS. that's when they will care.

Okay boss.

For what it's worth, only 1 person PM'd me for details on the email addresses, and that person promised to not send it until Monday.

So, to that person: wait on Phases.

You should make the letter on behalf of AF members, as you are not speaking on behalf of android forum. Only the owner does that! Minor adjustment.

Agreed. I tried to not reflect on AF at all, but I missed the last line below the signature line. Sorry. :(

But how many songs can 32GB get you - quite a bit. Maybe enough to get you through for a while.

Again, we arent talking about 32 GB of songs or 16 GB of songs. 4 or 5 will keep me happy. But when I'm staring at 16 total minus apps and minus the OS and what is already on the phone when I get it, contacts, a few photos maybe a movie or two and a book...things start feeling tight. I like to stay loose.

16 would be no problem if I didnt already say OK to no SD card

Agreed.

Um ... do you seriously believe that? What would prevent them from ignoring it?

I suspect many of you don't work in corporate environments. I guarantee you that all of those executives have administrative assistants who screen all e-mail coming in on those public addresses. And that mail probably includes a large number of rants and crackpot complaints, every single day. It's possible that one or two of the intended recipients MIGHT see the note. More likely, they'll just see it reflected on a report that says "243 complaint notes came in last week."

It's even possible that it might prompt some sort of reply. But I really hope no one on this forum actually believes writing this letter will be anything other than an act of venting frustration. Go ahead and send it if it makes you feel better, but don't expect that an e-mail from a handful of people on the Internet is actually going to change the decisions of a major corporation that answers to a board of directors and stockholders.

I think it's far more likely that pressure from Google would have some effect, and if Panda's tweets are any indication, at least some at Google are not happy. I am certain Verizon knows this already.

This is why I suggested sending it to a news source such as MSN in hopes of it reaching the home pages of millions of people. If that happens we will hear something from Verizon. Trust me, Verizon does not want to see millions of people renting phones until 1/15.

Great work, Han, loved the ending! Have you heard anything new from your sister?

Sorry, nothing new from her. Doubt I hear anything since it's the weekend.

But I'm still pretty hopeful for something on Monday.

I had a couple theories I wanted to share, as well as some info I gathered after thinking about these theories.

First, in regards to the picture stating 12/08: I have a feeling this is from an authorized retailer, which would only indicate that THEY would be launching on 12/08, leaving the 11/21 still an option for w/o or corporate stores. The reason for this is the wording on the red dinc2. They mention that the units would be shipped direct from HTC and not "our VZW DC". This struck me as odd, as why would a corporate office have to refer to themselves as "our VZW DC"? It would make more sense if that was coming from an authorized retailer instead, especially as many of them cover multiple carriers. Even if I'm wrong here, there's also the possibility that this is merely the in-store date, as the prior info we had said 11/21 but web only.

My second theory is in regards to VZW's exclusivity: I doubt that when Samsung agreed to the exclusivity, that they extended it from the date in which VZW decides to release the phone, but more likely from the date in which they (Samsung) were ready to release (say 11/17, when UK was ready). If they extended it from the date VZW decided to release, then Sammy'd be in an awkward position if VZW decided to drag their heels. Now Sammy could potentially lose $ when releasing to other carriers if VZW decided to wait until just before another carrier is about to drop a similar and/or better phone. I doubt they would have overlooked that possibility. If the agreement was from the date in which Sammy had the phone ready, then VZW would want to get it out soon to maintain some amount of exclusivity. Otherwise they could wait too long then only have it exclusive for a short period of time, hurting their sales.

Based on this, I decided to try calling a local store, and hoping to catch them off guard I asked if they had any in stock, rather than if they knew the release date. The woman I spoke to said "that device hasn't launched yet, but is expected to next week." When I pressed further, she backtracked and said they didn't have a release date yet. You could take that as her initially thinking of the 11/21 date, then realizing that it's been pushed to 12/08, or you could take it as next week being correct and her trying to deflect the fact that she gave me info she wasn't supposed to. I'm hoping for the latter, but I guess we'll see soon.

I just want to stress to everyone, in case it got lost in the chaos, that we should not send the letter until Phases gets back to us.

Also, we don't know what Monday will bring, which is why I suggested earlier that we hold off on it a bit.

Coming from a lobbyist (and now none of you respect me anymore), this is 100% true. Personal relationships change policy not protests and mass letters. Those help you feel better about doing something. You may win the battle, but you lose the war.

THIS is what I'm talking about! Strength and numbers and all that. I wanted us to launch a full assault on Verizon: Twitter, Facebook, email, phone, fax...whatever. We want this phone, and we want it now. We've had enough.

I'm beginning to wonder whether Verizon is consciously trying to defer the Galaxy Nexus release until a date and time that optimizes the number of customers that will lose their 'New Every Two' $50 discount, which could be significant. Suppose there are a million people that are eligible for the discount but will lose it on or after December 8th. That's fifty million dollars captured by Big Red. In these days of corporate greed I would not be surprised by this maneuver.

How many folks will be losing their $50 discount on or after Dec 8th?

Dubbin, that actually sounds like a really good idea. Media might run with this story, Verizon, on the other hand will just trash it.

How would you "lose" the discount??:confused:

Hey folks I need to get updated!

I came here and saw the latest Phandroid link with the 12/8 leaked date. What have our other sources said?

Steven's?
Han's sister?
Others?

Sounds like an online release next week is unlikely?

This is why I suggested sending it to a news source such as MSN in hopes of it reaching the home pages of millions of people.

News organizations also screen their e-mail, and they get even more rants from random crackpots. Do you really think MSN would consider this newsworthy? What would be the headline? "Handful of Internet Geeks Impatient For Smartphone"?

Trust me, Verizon does not want to see millions of people renting phones until 1/15.

If Verizon suspects people are abusing the return policy, they won't honor it. It's right there in the fine print. "At our discretion, we may decline your return." Their discretion.

One of the benefits of retiring from being a moderator here is I can speak freely without having to worry what I say, of course within the guidelines :p

Preface - I want this phone just as much as any member here. That being said...

That letter that was posted in regards to 500,000 AF members - there is NO WAY that 500,000 peeps want it from here. I am sure Early/Phases can look at unique visitors to this thread/forum. Whether you want to believe it or not we are a minority when it comes to purchasing this phone. I am 1 of 11 android users in my immediate family/friends and NONE of them even know that this phone exists. (converted all from blackberry - your welcome :D ).

One of the reasons I lost interest in moderating here was shortly after thunderbolt release and INC. It wore me out. Everyone complaining / blaming VZW / I saw this / I saw that etc, my god remember the BOX?. One thing I stood by, they never said a release date. This release is NO DIFFERENT than the Tbolt. To those that care it was a complete fail, however we again are a small %.

I want VZW to release this phone, now, but VZW has DONE NOTHING WRONG. Letters / relentless tweets / and accusing publicly is just not right.

Have you ever read some of the worthless crap they post? There is a very good chance they would pick up on this.
