***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Stability has been the biggest point for me. Android (on the Bionic) was very buggy; restarting during calls, battery getting very hot, CRAPPY camera (insane shutter lag), and terrible battery life. Iphone has been very stable for me so far, camera is absolutely perfect, I can get through an entire day plus some on a single charge.

There are plenty of things I miss though on Android; native navigation, customization, 4G, more apps tend to be free or cheaper, bigger screen, ...

Overall I am very happy with my Iphone and have no regrets. Much more than I could've said with the Bionic.

I had 2 iPhones before I switched to Android. The thing that got me to switch was the iPhone being so controlled and not open at all. That and Apple doing their best to keep it locked down. Issuing updates for the sole purpose of keeping jailbreaking from happening and things of that nature. Sickened me.

Just walked into a corporate store in Glen Mills, PA and the sales Rep told me that the phone was to release today but was pushed back to an unknown date by Samsung. So there you go. No phone today. Take that reasoning for whatever its worth.

This is the second or third post I have seen where a Verizon rep is blaming Samsung for stopping todays release.

I don't buy it...Actually I think it is complete garbage, Verizon is the reason for the scrapped launch, they need to just own up to it!

I want to buy the ReZound from Costco so that I can definitely get the Double Data promotion.
Have you heard something saying that promotion would expire in the next 10 days? My understanding was that the deal was running through the end of the month (at least).

I just want something official from them about this. enough is enough. everyone please help me get #VZWNEXUSFAIL trending on twitter and google+!!!!!!

I think you need to cross post this to the other forums to try and get critical mass. getting a trending topic takes a lot of tweets

On the 7777 topic, I think I may have a shot at this. Who was in the lead? Especially since my alias isn't even a backup phone. It's my only phone.

P.S. Photo taken from work phone.

Yes and no.

You're 100% correct, the droopy prop is an artifact of the same way a CMOS sensor captures the image -- one scan line at a time. It's the reason the other videos "wave" when the camera is panned.

But stabilization DOES have an effect, because it smooths the movement of the camera, and filters out unintended movement. If the camera is moving less, or moving more smoothly, the rolling shutter effect is greatly minimized.

There are also software methods that take into consideration the read rate of the CMOS sensor, and can attempt to correct this effect, although it, too, has practical limits and increases the workload on the processor.

I don't know enough about image capture/correction algorithms to go any deeper on the subject, but thanks for the input!

Tired of waiting on Nexus, what do you like about iphone over android?

To answer your question:

I can't speak for ALL of us, but here's the primary reason why I prefer Android over iPhone:

Apple controls every aspect of the iPhone's environment. From the operating system to the apps available, they approve of everything. That makes it a great phone that WORKS... but it also limits customization, personalization and modification. Every iPhone basically looks and runs like every other iPhone. It's a walled garden... everything works, but it gets rather... boring.

Android is open-source. You can root it, overclock it, modify the guts of it, add apps that are off-market and truly make it a one-of-a-kind phone. If you get tired of the stock operating system, you can flash a custom ROM and completely change it out. I doubt anyone out there has a Droid that looks and works like mine does. It's the Wild West of cell phone tech: almost anything goes. That means the more you tinker and adjust, the more risk you run of messing something up... but that's half the challenge and fun (and why we have nandroid backups).

I hope that answered your question :)

Since complaining to Verizon isn't getting us anywhere, maybe we should start complaining to Google and see if that works better. Tell them we'll switch to the iphone for consistent updates.

Well, I kept my 9 am appointment this morning. No Nexus here. Their system is saying that "the phone does not meet our high standards yet." Sigh. I tried.

I had a jailbroken iPod Touch that I played with quite a bit when I first jailbroke it, then it eventually went back to primarily playing music. I mean it's definitely cool and awesome to have a jailbroken or "hacked" phone, but at the end of the day, I want it to function properly as a phone with the capability to browse the internet and make video calls. The other stuff, meh.

The Chief speaks for me, and more eloquently than I ever could.

before we all continue to go pitchforks and torches on VZW, has anyone stopped to think that maybe WE caused the delay? WHAT IF this phone always had the plan to be a soft launch. no pr, no real advertising, etc. but after such HUGE responses from the Nexus Faithful, VZW decided to hold up to get tons and tons of advertisement ready for this phone because they now see what kind of demand there is for it and wants to push it hard.

What you're suggesting is possible but I'm not sure how it could have worked out differently. Certainly would couldn't pretend to be indifferent about it in hopes it would get launched. We got/are excited and I'd think Verizon would have seen dollar signs then gotten the thing out ASAP. Clearly that has not happened.

I would never threaten to switch to iphone, but I'm not opposed to the idea of complaining to Google rather than Verizon. At least Google is apt to make a few replies to us. -_-

LOL! It's not just a phone, it's an adventure! I love it! :D

CRAP! I got a VZW mailer yesterday with a bow on it and tossed into the recycler bin in my apartments!

I got one too, and I am in your area but I don't remember seeing the $100.00 off, just the guaranteed lowest price. I tossed mine too so I am hope I am right about it not having the coupon:(

As having owned an Android device (and shamefully many BB devices) and currently with an Iphone 4S, I completely agree with this.

they probably got wind of the whole rent a rezound thing running around the forums and decided to delay until after the holiday return deal is over. Given a choice between having to sit on a bunch of returned rezounds (stupidest name ever) or delaying the release of the nexus until after the holidays, which makes more sense financially?

I do have one request. If anyone gets a Nexus today, besides giving us the full rundown, please tweet, post on facebook, do everything you can to let the world know you got one. It will ignite a firestorm of pressure on Verizon to release it to the rest of us.

It will probably also get the guy who sold it to you fired. People should keep that in mind. I said this in a post before, but if there were some concerned about getting people fired by simply having them spill the beans on release dates, just imagine the trouble they'll get in when it's found out they sold the phone prior to release.
