All of this is fine, and I'm sure from your point of view it just plain sucks to see someone walk when they are clearly guilty. However I'd rather see ten guilty people walk than see one innocent person wrongfully convicted. That's just me though.

OT:

Yeah but what if those ten guilty people that walk result in 5 more murdered people? 5 more families destroyed because of a stupid jury or judge? Happens more often than you'd think.

The system is, unfortunately, broken. But it's also foolish to expect that it could ever be repaired or perfected. Human judges can't read minds or hearts, so the innocent suffer and the guilty walk free. It's very unfortunate.

Ugh. Now I'm depressed. Just reminded of a few cases where I wish the outcome would have been different.

I need some cheering up. I think I'll go look at the Prime website again. :p

I think you just rooted the phone. It is unlikely that you over clocked and you definitely did not jailbreak. But give it a few weeks on AF and you'll be as knowledgeable (and nutty) as the rest of us. ;)

I'm actually embarrassed that I said "Jailbreak" when talking about the Droid X2. I rooted the phone and installed some root-only app to be able to overclock. I'm no expert, though, but I did notice decreased battery life and increased speed.

Thanks for the correction, though. Stuck in this limbo with an iPhone 4S and waiting for a Galaxy Nexus is leading to major pyschosis haha.

Grab the Salt Shaker!!
I'm sure I'll be hammered for saying this, but I talking with my VZW Prem. Store Owner and heard something disappointing. He said that while speaking with people from RCR wireless (wireless news site - Information not yet posted), he received information that the Galaxy Nexus will be released in the First Quarter of next year.

Like all other dates it is only as accurate as Verizon will make it.

Has anyone else heard of delays of this nature? I would have said no way initially, but it seems more likely if they don't release this weekend.

Honestly if someone were to lose their job because I got a phone early I would return it as well. I wouldn't want to lose my job over a blunder like that and would hope that someone would be honest enough to not get me in trouble.

Glad you got to hold it in your hands though -- your wait is going to feel MUCH longer now.

I'm an OSU alum. I miss Columbus quite a bit!

O-H!
I-O!

Off topic
Excited about Urban Meyer? We're gonna rock the next couple years. With Meyer helping Braxton get his throwing game down and a good spread offense, national championship here we come!

Prepare to get curb stomped by the Gators....again....

and no I'm not bitter about Urban. He was a great coach for us, not surprised he went back to OSU. IMO he is spent though, but he will give it a go. All the coaches that helped him become successful are somewhere else so we will see what happens.

got to return it seriously...

There is no way id return it once they sold it to me.

I want to my local VZW corp store this morning.
They told me that the Galaxy Nexus is under a quarantine because of the manufacture. VZW is not accepting the phone as is for some reason.

Sorry for the bad news.

See, now this I believe. There is something wrong with the Nexus as it has to do with Verizon network. Maybe it can be fixed quickly via software/firmware and it will be released asap or not. This passes the commonsense test to me. Not marketing, not in the weeds conspiracies, a real problem that needs to be dealt with. Maybe wallet, maybe lte, we dont know.

Not defending VZW this is a major epic fail. But it is a real reason ... not a conspiracy.

It was mentioned tens of thousands of posts back by Miss Piggy, but it was pretty much shot down quickly. I still think we see it next Thursday.

I'm surprised there wasn't some kind of notification to the salesperson when they scanned the UPC. Like special ops rapelling out of helicpoters and crashing through the windows...the way they've ferociously tried to protect details on this release.

hahahahahaha i told my friend the same thing. LIke how secretive and nervous vzw employees are when talking about the nexus. Like if they let slip out any important details POW sniper takes them out lol

Morning Nexicans. Nothing earth-shattering or new to report, but I did want to pass along my visit to my local VZW.

Walked in right at open (10a eastern) and a kind lady greeted me, asking what my visit was for. I said I was due for an upgrade and wanted to know more about the galaxy nexus. Her first response was, after hesitating for a second or two, "we don't have it, unknown launch date." I said "ok, no problem. I know some stores have received a shipment. Do you have one that I could look at, as I really want this phone?" She started to say something, but was cut off by a salesman who said "We don't know when we're getting it. It was supposed to be today, but it's been delayed for some reason and we don't have a release date." The lady then asked him if they had a demo. He got a kind of deer-in-headlights look and gave what I perceived as a very 'yes, but I have to say no' "no".

At this point, I said ok, thank you, and started to leave. The salesman then said "If you'd like, I can take down your number and call when we get info on a release date or anything." I accepted. I figured this was better than nothing. Overall, I felt like they had it but didn't want to reveal as such. Seems like the 15th is the new date, so I'm hoping my guy gives me a call with that date. Haven't checked into any other VZW stores.

They're probably still going to fire them.

My conspiracy theory (THIS IS JUST WILD SPECULATION ON A POSSIBLE CAUSE FOR DELAY): The Google Wallet fiasco. Verizon has a competing technology so they do not want this native-function available to their users. Google called them out on blocking this feature and they want to save face.

It has been widely shared that Verizon is not legally permitted to block the application, so their response is that they are not releasing the device until Samsung replaces all the batteries with non-NFC compliant ones. This change would make it so the Galaxy Nexus will no longer support NFC on the hardware side and this will remove the need for Verizon to assume liability and reputational risk for illegally blocking an application.

If I'm right, we are waiting for shipments of replacement batteries before the device will be launched.

Folks...why would returning this phone save anyone's job. The phone has been sold already. That is what will get someone fired. Returning the phone is a moot point. If one were to get fired it would be for selling it in the first place.

I am in the transaction processing / payments business. One of my paid subscribed periodicals had the following (I would post the link but most do not pay to subscribe to this site):

Google, Verizon Battle Over Digital Wallet

The intense competition to provide digital wallet services has resulted in the fragmentation of the emerging market. In the latest salvo, Google announced that it will acquiesce to Verizon Wireless' demands that it withhold its mobile payment technology from Verizon-sold devices. Google alleges that the cell phone operator is blocking its Google Wallet application from pre-loading on the Galaxy Nexus smartphone or downloading by consumers, while Verizon says Google Wallet "needs to be integrated into a new, secure, and proprietary hardware element in our phones." The NFC-based Google Wallet app lets people make payments in stores using their phones and redeem digital coupons at merchants. Industry observers say Verizon's actions are likely related to its intention to partner with T-Mobile USA and AT&T on the Isis mobile payments venture, which seeks to offer a wallet-like service that also supports in-store payments and coupon redemption via consumer smartphones. It remains unclear whether digital wallets will catch on with consumers, and thus far they are only supported on a small number of phones. Carriers such as Verizon are worried about how Google can feature apps in its Android mobile software that they perceive as competitive, and the skirmish between Verizon and Google also reflects carriers' loss of control over their handhelds' content.

Readers of Cryptonomicon will tell you that no good book is complete without one cooking recipe and an algorithm to calculate pi.

Readers of any good thread will tell you that it's not complete without a My Little Pony update and a trial analysis of the OJ case.

And no self-respecting tech discussion is complete without a solid Neal Stephenson reference. The man is a legend. If you haven't discovered his writing, start with Snow Crash.

If there was a serious problem with the phone and LTE it would have never been leaked that it would release 12/9. A major problem with this phone and LTE would have been uncovered months ago...

If it has something to do with Wallet...The lawyers will decide when to release this thing.

It's all marketing and they are blaming others to cover their butts.

The new broken Nexus Kool Aide is tasty, but please don't drink it.
