Just for reference, does one know how to activate a phone once they do get it if they don't want it activated in the store? Don't you just dial *228 or something like that?

I don't love or hate OSU. I cheered for OSU when I lived there because I support local teams, but I'm not sure I'd want a coach who bailed on his kids the first time that he faced adversity in his career. From what I read on various sites, many Florida players, while worried about their own futures, understood when he left because they were worried about his health. Some of them urged him to not hurt himself for their sake. Many sent him get well cards and stayed in touch with him as much as possible. They loved him and trusted him. Then, a few months later, he's adopting new kids at OSU? He's cured suddenly?

I don't know about wanting that kind of man coaching my kids, but you know, it's not my team. Maybe that's because I'm not born and bred OSU that I see it that way.

I wish the best for OSU though, because that team and its fans have been through the wringer lately, and I am very close to quite a few Buckeyes. I like my friends to be happy friends. :D

My order for ADW went through fine a few hours ago. Installed, waiting for me to get bored w/GO Launcher to try it out.

Buy it cheap but don't set it as your home launcher for a few weeks until you've had a chance to play w/vanilla ICS.

I don't really care about the rumors anymore.

The 9th didn't hold water, others are now saying the 11th or the 15th. Unfortunately nothing's official until it's in stores and/or Verizon releases a press release.

I don't mind if I have to wait a few more days, but I do mind not knowing anything. I don't understand why Verizon can't set a date and stick to it and why they can't, at the very least, provide a preorder form. I just want to know it's coming and that my order is in.
 
OK here's the skinny...

I went to buy the phone thinking there's no way I'm walking out of this store with it. The activation went through just fine but they couldn't ring up the sku.

So they hand wrote a purchase agreement and copied my credit card (they were assuming they could run it later today when the sku was active) they never got word from their boss stating anything different from the 9th as being the launch date.

When I got home and pulled the phone out of the box I seen they called & texted, they were frantically trying to reach me of course I knew what it was it was all about.
I consider these people friends and wouldn't want to see them fired. I am unemployed right now and I realize how tough it is out there.

but here is the good news...When I called Verizon to make certain that my upgrade eligabity was reset, I explained to the rep what happened. The Verizon rep was very forthcoming and told me that Verizon has not deleted the Nexus from their info guide but only hidden it, she says the release date is there and it's the 15th. I asked how she knew this and she said she really wants the Nexus so she went digging and found it, of course we all know that could change, but I don't doubt the rep for 1 second (and I usually doubt everything) that the 15th is the target date.
 
Well I just got word from an excellent source that indeed the 15th is the day. Hot damn could this be the end of an epic journey? I had forgot all about someone I know well having a connection. I should have remembered this all along.

Absolutely not..

Its a SIM Card now that you need tied to your phone number. Insert the sim card and turn the phone on.. It will activate itself

Not for a sim card phone. Once it's in the system and then installed, give it a minute, or a reboot, and voila

i went ahead and kept my 9am appt that i had a vzw corp store this morning. when walking in the guy behind the counter asked me if i needed assistance and i laid all the cards on the table... stating that i've been following the hype behind the nexus, the rumors about the delay, etc. he just looked at me as if i squatted and pitched a loaf in the middle of the sales floor or something. yep. he looked that irritated although i was cordial as anyone could be. after my blah blah blah'ing, he simply said "yeah... unfortunately we don't have any information on the release date on the device, but sometime next week is what we're expecting". after thanking him, another salesperson overheard our conversation and asked the rep if i was asking about the nexus and said that he received info that it would be on the 15th. soooooo, i setup another appointment for 9am next thursday. :o

so, chalk it up as another guy who heard the 15th. another week. sigh. to top it all off, i have this darn barenaked ladies song one week song stuck in my head now. :mad:

after makeing a pitstop to get a few more christmas decorations, i stopped into a radioshack was was told that they've been getting a lot of calls about the nexus (of course you have), that they're expecting shipments shortly, and that they received word NOT to sell the devices from verizon until authorized (she mentioned that last part twice).

anyhow, at least i can chillax for several days and enjoy the beautiful screen on this rezound before returning it.

I've decided to fire the navy seal team 6, that I normally dispatch to off my enemies and hire CindyBearCatfan instead.

Send that lady on a mission, and boom, its complete!

I'm hoping she scores one with her scouring the sales kiosks.

Thanks for the info, did you buy the phone from a Verizon corporate store or a third party seller? Have you actually returned the phone yet?
