***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Called a month ago and VZW said they would sell me a phone at contract price but I would sacrifice my NE2. Also said I would probably have to deal with them as my local store may not honor it. Can they move the date up in the system itself so places like Amazon acknowledge it?

No Best Buy within four hours of my town.

To my knowledge (and it's not complete) only Verizon Wireless will honor the NE2 because it's an in house discount. BUT if you have a corporate store near you and go in and tell them to have your date moved up, I'm certain they will especially now that the phone is out. I would give it a try.

It's too bad Letstalk charges tax for residence of California (and Texas). Still a pretty good deal though. Need to see how much Amazon will go for in order to decide.

Advice, if you knew, you were not going to be able to get the gnex tomorrow, would you wait until friday morning, or would you order online tonight? my fear is if I wait, none of my stores will have one available on Friday. And obviously if I order it online, when the heck will i ever get it?

There's a chance I could walk into my local authorized retailer tomorrow and buy one. The reason I'm buying online is that I have been burned in the past when it comes to smaller cities and device launches. Be it a game system, phone, or whatever. I don't count on it. I would much rather wait a day or two for shipping than a week or more because I put too much faith into the stock levels of my local stores.

The trick with third party, is to make sure you aren't going anywhere for the length of your contract...
Yeah, I never seem to make it. Always have gadgetitis. So I've only every dealt with Verizon.

My DX served me well. Hoping this takes me out another two years.

I gotta chime in here too and say thanks for the good times. It's been fun getting to know everyone and having a place to come and catch up on speculation. I will miss hanging out with everyone waiting for the Nexus to drop but I'm sure a lot of us will cross paths as we mod our phones in the coming months. And, in two years when our contracts expire we can meet up again for the latest Android device and talk about the epic thread we took part in. Though in two years we probably won't be able to complain about Verizon. Surely by then they will have figured out how to do a proper release. ;)

Also, the mods and longtime members have been great! There's a real family feel here that you certainly don't get in other forums. Thanks for letting the leash out a bit and allowing the thread take it's own course.
WC:)

Yeah, store stock is dependant on thier business levels. So a store in NYC is going to get tons more phones on launch day then one in Oklahoma. Kiosks may not get any phones, and some that do have thier inventory stripped by the corporate stores on request (ie, they sold out, now take the kiosks inventory).

Very interested in this also.

Don't think it's on Amazon yet. I have 15 days until my NE2 date, so I was assuming they would have it by then. They had the Rezound for $220, so I'm thinking it may be less than Verizon's price even with my $50 NE2.

Didn't someone post an image with the galaxy nexus on amazon?

I did let's talk once, back then it was a 6 month requirement until their ETF was gone. But have done verizon ever since.

Thanks, I wouldn't mind having one tomorrow but it's not necessary. Mainly I'm looking for the best deal, because yeah I'll get my NE2 $50 discount, but in California they make you pay sales tax on the retail price of the phone, which will be like $60, so buying from Verizon will cost me $310.

ARRG!
I heard the Gnex was going to be released tomorrow...YAY!! So I went to vzw corporate store and had them check my acct for $100 promo. There was a note from CSR stating that I was eligible, though they had not heard of it. They tried to process another 4G phone through as an upgrade to see what would happen. They're computer said I wasn't "tagged", meaning not eligible for that upgrade, despite note from CSR. The manager read from the screen and it said something to the effect of " CSR shall not overwrite promotions and add to account that aren't automatically eligible". I think the CSR I had talked to that said I was eligible for promo made a mistake....a $100 mistake. I very nicely went back and forth with manager and salesman, but in the end there was no way I was getting the promo. Thought you all should be given a heads up for when you go to order and discount is not available. Its bittersweet, happy yet pissed. BTW: all batteries are 1/2 off till Dec 31st. Gnex extended battery is $25. I don't know if any of this has been mentioned, just got home.

That is correct, NE2 is only Verizon (and gone for new contracts).

But many of the authorized retailers add thier own discount, so it evens out.

For others thinking about Amazon, here are the terms (I think). You sign a new 2-year contract, and if you cancel that you owe VZW the cancellation fee. You ALSO owe Amazon $250 if you cancel/are disconnected anytime in the next 181 days (6 months).

To whoever has bought using amazon before:

Is the upgrading process the same if I'm using another line's upgrade? Just upgrade the line with the upgrade and activate the phone on the line I want it on? I called verizon and they seem to be unable to transfer the upgrade nor do I have an option to online... so letstalk is already out of question. I can't get the 3G to 4G discount (or even try) because the line with the upgrade is a non-smartphone.
