I apologize if I missed this earlier in the thread.

I had read that there was a 2.2 update for the Mezmerize. However, I just went into my Samsung account for the Fascinate and under software I found the item/link pasted below. This won't work on the Fascinate, will it?

This is a sosftware upgarde for the US Cellular SCH-i500 (Mesmerize).
This softare upgrade will upgrade the Samsung Mesmerize from Android version 2.1 to Android version 2.2 Froyo.
You can Copy and Paste the following URL into your browser for more details.
What Is New To My US Cellular SCHi500 (Mesmerize) Froyo Upgrade (EC10) & How Do I Obtain The Software?

negative. that's a big no go.

I don't think kies will even work to update our phones. If it did work you'd be hosed because it would no longer connect to verizon's network.

Damn.. really happy that I went with the X over this one when I was on the fence between the two. My friends? not so lucky.

Enjoying GB atm :o

Last October i had the X and the Fascinate in my hands and liked the screen on the Fascinate better plus the winner who sold it to me of course said "a couple of weeks" for the 2.2 update. A couple? hmmm not so much!

I think it's an automated email reply. I've gotten the same email back within a minute or two of sending.

I think the first one may of been automated (although I sent them the night before and didn't get a response until morning). Throughout the day I received the same type of message worded a little differently from each department from 5 different groups so hopefully I will see some action out of it. Who knows I might see a big fat credit on my account, lol. (A man can dream.) I am really hoping its not all automated and will never see the light of day but knowing Verizon that is probably the case.

My apologies I hadn't seen the posts about someone actually calling because I forgot to refresh from earlier. Someone calling is good news. Perhaps it will get the ball rolling!

I'm just going to upgrade to iPhone5 whenever it is released. I am sick of this crap.

Whatever tinkles your chimes. ;)

just messin!

I certainly hope we are getting close. With the samsung endorsed source code released, even if VZ does nothing with it, the devs will release greatness with it, and we should have even more stable and legit ROMs to put on our phones with very few bugs. Perhaps some builds will even be so stable and clean that those afraid of the root/ROM process will decide to dive in and give it a go.

Keep the updates coming! My dad also has a fascinate, and I have him complaining to Verizon with our little Fascinate army, prompting them to please deliver the 2.2 update to the masses. He is expecting a call soon, too.

take this for what its worth, maybe its a ray of hope?

Samsung Fascinate - Evidence mounts for near-term Gingerbread release on Galaxy S

"Samsung Electronics, Samsung mobile com site early this morning in the Galaxy will conduct the upgrade for S 'to the information bulletin of the posts in a few hours and then fell.

In that post, to proceed with the upgrade Galaxy S phrases with "Android gingerbread and improvements applied to the new version can be upgraded" had tracked the contents.

Samsung Electronics official "Notice to the person's mistake was post exposure seems to be missing," and "yes to the upgrade is imminent has not been planned this weekend," he said.

Galaxy S Android 2.1 version has been upgraded once in November last year, when this upgrade will be released in the Galaxy and S 2 will be using the same operating system."

It's already past April 15, and still no update :P

Thanks for sharing this -- interesting. But if you look farther down in that thread, you'll see other rays of hope... nearly one year old. :p It probably ain't happening.

What's not happening? This references the European Galaxy S getting Gingerbread soon, and apparently they are as we speak ..

so would VZW just skip 2.2 all together and jump ahead to 2.3? I know I'm kinda late to the discussion, but it seems really shaddy of VZW to give us a phone thats never going to see a firmware update, I mean even my original Droid is running 2.3

The original Droid didn't get an official 2.3 so your point is moot.

Same here. Playing phone tag as well. Step away to get coffee, and leave my phone on the desk just once...

I could use a little help with my list of demands.

So far :

One year free service
Free upgrade to the phone of my choice within the next 18 months
$50 credit to every referral
....??

Happy Monday. Still nothing, still waiting, face turning blue from holding my breath...

Don't stress about it too much folks. It'll come when it comes. And just because we now have an update rubber stamped by samsung doesn't mean Berizon is willing to lose out on some Bing money by releasing a 2.2 update that offers google's search as an option.

I'd go with free upgrade... Birizon is screwing with customers, and the only way to "learn 'em" is to make them lose money.

Even making them play phone tag is causing them to lose money.

Corporations are sociopathic, and only care about profits. So, you hit them there: hurt their profits by driving up costs for them.
