maybe we could all try and have a voice when we see the bloatware? if we complain like vodafone users we could get froyo as it is meant to be??

Why 2 weeks? Specifically? I understand the potential need to reduce strain on servers (If that still happens in 2010) but on what do you base 2 weeks?

Orange HTC Desire Android 2.2 update delayed to mid-September | Android Community
This is ridiculous. HTC catering to needs of US rather than Europe. I guess that is what happens when you deal with US centric companies.
If Vodafone campaign was success full why not Orange?? We just need more people to sign up. Problem is I think most people who have Desire are not on Orange. There was a significant drop in Upgrade chatter after the Voda update. So it is that either there are not enough of us or not enough who care!

Hi all, I've just been on the phone to Orange customer services (3g down) and whist i was on asked about the 2.2 update. Anyway she checked and said this weekend.... fingers crossed then!
This weekend? I really hope this is the case, although I'm not confident...
Still no 2.2 then![]()
It's not the weekend yet. Or "4 weeks" for that matter (that's next weekend...). Call me cynical, but if I get 2.2 this weekend I'll eat my work Blackberry.
So, that rumour turned out to be a load of shite didn't it!
Over on Eurodroid there's a blog article that suggests the Orange OTA update could be released this Friday. Now, I remain sceptical, although that does kinda fit in with the original time frame given by Orange. Watch this space...
Cool. Thanks for updating us on this. I am still waiting for Orange to issue the 2.2 OTA, hopefully over the next couple of weeks.
Conor from Orange said it takes about 4 weeks to adapt upgrades to branded phones after the original release. As HTC realised froyo for Desire on 2 August, 4 weeks will be this weekend. However it is very hard to hide such release in the last week before release as the operators need to get various permissions from Google, htc, etc. Considering that there has been no such news about any permission seeking I doubt if there will be a release this weekend!
No Update Today. Disappointed but not surprised!! Orange is going to drag this out as there is so much bloatware on their phone. But I am paying
I think HTC is not blameless here. The reason being last week there was a great deal of news that froyo update on Droid Incredible had a major hiccup. Suddenly today, update over at the States arrived on schedule and Desire update got pushed back. What else can I deduce from that but that resources were shifted from Desire to Incredible. Also, I am no way a fan of orange, next time I am going to CPW.
Like everyone still looking at this thread I was waiting and waiting for Orange to pull there finger out and release Froyo for us people daft enough to buy direct from Orange, so in Friday after there excuse of yet another 2 weeks, someone else's fault etc etc I made myself a gold card using the gold card tool previously mentioned on this forum, downloaded the latest signed stock Froyo rom, bought myself a unlock code off ebay (just in case) and guess what after 10 minutes I had a stock un rooted, un locked 2.2 Froyo running Desire. Why I didn't do it as soon as the latest rom was made available I don't know, anyway so now I have a quicker device, apps2sd, google earth a lot more choice from the market place to name but a few. So am I glad they didn't release the update when they promised. And to end updating is easy as long as you have a working gold card as the ROM update will tell you if there is a problem before it nackers your phone.
