Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Wife - "Can you look at my computer. I think it has a virus."

Me - "What is it doing? What did you DL or install recently?"

Wife - "Nothing. It's got a weird toolbox thing in the internet."

Me - "Yeah... that coupon thing you downloaded and installed last week... one of the options that it gives you during install is to decline ask.com's toolbar. You didn't decline it so it installed it."

Wife - "Yeah, that's too much work [to decline or read it]. I'll just ask you when I have a problem."

Sigh...

Wow, yeah, that happens. I'm pretty much tech support for my whole family, I know what it's like. Even my computer engineer of a father-in-law is Android illiterate. I had to talk my mother through how to install a couple .apk's I sent her onto her Kindle Fire HD so that she could play Bejeweled Blitz and Candy Crush on her Kindle.

Click all day on Pinterest, but clearing that little checkbox is just one click too many.:banghead:

The Vulcan does that to me.
"When you have a minute, will you check out my computer?"

He seems to believe that every update is good from the get-go. (I've seen MS screw up on the first go round - I wait at least a week and check the security sites.)

Pinterest is the messiest, most illogical site I have ever seen and I'm not logical. Nor do I use Instagram.
If you understand the Dewey Decimal System, you understand why Pinterest is messy.

I feel i should defend the wifes lol. Last night i talked my wife through completely flashing a rom, gapps, and another couple of zips in one go on my s3 (our most expensive object and the source of our homes internet) and she did it fine.. she got 4.3 running perfectly on a phone thats officially running 4.1.
she usually thinks my geeky stuff is sad but she got a buzz out of it and now wants an android to hack. Earlier today she asked "hows cyanogen runnin'" lol words i thought id never hear from an offline real person 😍

You know what grinds my gears?

When friends come by to visit me, and try to pass me their laptop or tablet, with a sticky note attached on it saying "Fix Me".

Rip the power supply off, toss it in the trash, and hand it back. Let them know it can no longer reproduce. Problem solved.:D

You converted your wife into a flashaholic? Awesome! :D

Do you know what grinds my gears? When the city goes FUBAR over a damned football game! From road closings downtown, to traffic jams, to the city buses running late, etcetera, etcetera. *sighs* Wish I had a car. :(

Expletive up beyond all recognition. You get the point.

From what I understand it started around the second world war. Could be wrong, can't remember back that far.

But of course I can't drop any further hints because this is a family-friendly forum, right? And a few times, I did have to restrain myself.

"Fouled" up beyond all recognition. ;)

It's a relic of WW II military speak, near as I have found it... lots of phrases and slang came of that era.
