Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Verizon. They grind my gears the most. And it's not an understatement. I hate their contracts. If I want to get a phone, and it's only on Verizon, i'll wait. Or I'll flash/unlock it. As if it isn't enough, they include their stupid, flashy logo on every single device. I like Sprint the most you see-- they don't include their logo on most devices. And when they do, it's not on the home button, like on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Apart from that, Verizon costs a lot. At least I have prepaid on Sprint.

...and that is why I have a pure hatred for Verizon.

Don't forget that their LTE spectrum has open network requirements attached to it, already got slapped once by the fcc for breaking the rules, and now defiantly refuse to active news SIMs on LTE Nexus 7. FCC docs show it's compatible, people can transfer already active SIM cards over to it and have it work.

News flash Verizon, you don't have to certify every device for your LTE network; this isn't CDMA!

Yup. LTE is open. Don't have to certify. SIM cards are one of the greatest things known to me.

This is ridiculous. I got fired by the new manager at the plant store I worked at three weeks ago. I got fired for just not being liked by the new manager even though I was one of the most helpful and respected employees in the store. I have been filling out job application after job application, but couldn't get past ANY of the assessments I had to take as well. This is ridiculous.

The fact that my stbx is claiming incomepacity benefits while working and never paid tax for 20yrs and continues to drink and drive while on ban..and somehow people still think hes a great guy ...well hes not

Is that like disability? You should report his ass. People like that ruin it for the ones who really need it.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. Hope you find something soon. Looking for work is no fun.

That stinks. Can he do that? ?

My 19-year-old daughter needing her hand held while doing her homework. Dammit, I have my own homework to do...

Which is why I am here.

Don't feel bad, Dngr. My 50-year-old husband is apparently totally helpless lately. He couldn't even figure out cooking frozen tater tots without whimpering at me to do it. (grump)

He must be related to the Vulcan. Does he get even by leaving messes that he claims he doesn't notice?

It's proven scientific fact that men don't perceive dirt in the same way women do (I know I read that somewhere - I've relied on it in 'discussions' for years) so the Vulcan may well not have noticed.

You can't argue with science.

Well, you can, but you come over looking a bit tin-hat-y

Jus' sayin'

The real kicker is that I ended up accidentally deleting a handful of folders on my laptop during my continuous getting up and down and so I have a recovery utility scanning a 100GB heavily manipulated partition to try and recover some of the lost data.

If I can at least get the folder names, I should be able to at least repopulate them from external sources.

And no, I did not get my homework done. :(

I'd argue the dirt thing, as I was a highly trained dirt-seeker; but the fact is, if I don't ignore it at home, I'd go bat-shit crazy trying to clean up a dozen toxic waste dumps all at the same time. :/

He pays the price for not noticing. We have one cat that eats too fast and ralphs all over. He's stepped in it barefoot many times. If I see it first, I use a sand type cleaner. We've had at least one ralpher during the last 20 years so you'd think he would have learned by now.

For someone that is a compulsive hand washer, he leaves the greasiest fingerprints on the tablet and my phone!

My wife and I almost got taken for a ride over window installation last night. We did something we NEVER do: we signed up for windows with the first estimate we got because he pressured us with a B.S. "discount" that was "only available if we signed up RIGHT then".
Holy cow, that is not like us. We must've been overly tired or something. Neither of us slept much and we both had bad dreams about it.
First thing this morning, I cancelled the order.

Never, never, never again. I still kick myself for doing that. Even though we got out of it, it was a dumb thing to do. Always research before making a decision like that. Always.

Was it a semi-emergency type install? We had a couple of big hailstorms and the roofers and bilkers were out in force. I just look out the door and keep going. I'll let my fingers do the walking. You do have to watch them, they will get up on the roof without your permission.

We also got some new chairs today that look like they were meant for children or little people. And of course management isn't giving us the option to keep our old chairs.

*sigh* What next? :/

Not an emergency, but we do have all original 1920 wood double hung windows. Even the glass appears to be original (glazing too on some) on all but one I put my hand through last year. All the sashes are loosey-goosey and leak like a sieve.
And winter is a comin'
