Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

I once shot an elephant in my pajamas. :D

She was torn between the M8 for the sound and the G2 for the camera. I told her if she likes the M8 I'll buy her a new camera.

Tomorrow, she begins her M8 trials.

Honestly - tough decision when the LG G2 is on sale for one freaking dollar (yeah subsidized yadda yadda yadda lol).

That's a whole lot of phone for a dollar. :p

My experience with LG has not been a good one; yes, we bought their least-expensive 4G dual-core phone; but, my past experience with HTC was excellent, between the EVO 4G & the 3VO. HTC has a good product - in many ways, better than Samsung, in my opinion. Since last year, HTC has been going out of their way when it comes to phone construction materials. Tell WifeyMon to appreciate the M8 for sound and construction, and, bite the bullet and get her a good camera at DealDash.com. My two cents, Pearly One. :) LW

She beat on her Evo Shift until the speaker grill was crimped shut and once came home from the river with it soaking and full of sand (it went for a swim). And it worked for 2 years. :D Her LTEvo lasted 23 months, until yesterday. I don't want to describe what it went through.

Her last word on the subject after we bought the M8 - "I think I'm going to need a case with whatever I get."

Yes dear, I think you're going to need a case as well.

Perhaps, but I'm all about the concept of moral agency and the consequences of one's actions being 100% the responsibility of the person making the choice.

If the penalty for theft is death, and you choose to steal, your death was your choice.

bjacks12, I'm a firm believer in accountability and responsibility for one's actions; but, the death penalty for thieves? Seriously? That sounds (reads) reminiscent of the film "The Purge - Anarchy"... some people come from lower-income backgrounds, who see the possessions that are advertised ad infinitum on television which wealthier people are able to buy, and think "Why not me?"

I'm not saying (writing) that stealing is an acceptable way of human behavior... yet, it happens - from the inner city, to Wall Street. Death, however, isn't the answer. Education and rehabilitation are the key to eliminating that kind of behavior.

Your observation really surprises me... LW

I believe in equality under the law. Depriving a person(regardless of their wealth) of their possessions should bring about severe consequences(regardless of your wealth). I don't care if it's a person in a low-income neighborhood or a banker on wall street. Nobody is entitled to special pity or privileges due to their circumstances or background. The law should be passed, publicized, and all considered aware of the consequences of theft.

"What are you in for?"

"Sharp creases, light starch. :("

"I said, sharp creases, light starch! The last time you did it, the starch was so heavy that I had to get 5 stitches on the left and right sides of my neck... bled like a stuck pig! I'm adding two years to your sentence. Get back to the laundry, and why don't we try solitary for thirty days... you should've thought about that before joining the college track team, doing 4.5 seconds on the fifty yard while carrying a hot 62 inch curved 1080p screen!" (the irate Warden was portrayed by EarlyMon, who won an Oscar for the role)

So, here I am... posting on the 'puter this time. I voted early today, to get that done. I know that we're not supposed to get political in this forum, but, I'm surprised at the voting law changes in the State of North Carolina. By 2016, voters must carry a state ID. I showed up today with my license, along with my voter registration card. The lady at the desk looked at me, and said: "Look at you - bringing your voter registration card!" I guess that was a compliment. I got my "I Voted" sticker for the mid-term elections, and life was lovely.

My, my. How times have changed. My grandfather never drove a car after he came over here from Italy; he used his work ID to vote, and that sufficed. I suppose that with today's population scenario being different from back in the day, they've got to do this.

My better half went to a meeting tonight, so, I get to surf the 'Net, post on my blog, and, post here at my favorite forum. I hope that everyone had a good day; today, the weather here was approaching 75 degrees Fahrenheit; so, it was nice to be out and about. We had to make a trip to the "dump", as we live in the willywags, and we don't have trash pickup. All in all, a nice day.

Except...

Dealing with other drivers out on the local roads. We had a semi actually run a red light to get on to I-95 North, which made us screech to a halt. Then, we got stuck behind a driver who thought the speed limit sign read '35' instead of '55' mph... out on these two-lane country roads, there aren't many opportunities to be able to pass.

Frustration. Then, while at a convenience store, we had to wait for nearly ten minutes while this one guy played several versions of the State Lottery for this coming Saturday's drawing. I'm a type-1 diabetic, and, my insulin had caught up with me... which meant I needed a snack, and some juice. I could feel the numbness in my teeth from low sugar, plus the confusion.

It kinda sucked.

Finally, after the snack, I got back to normal. Whatever that is. Today, however, I used my cane - rather than my chair (except for our voting excursion - having the chair makes things happen a little quicker when you go to vote... I know. I'm such a noodge). The walking hurt, but, it made me proud of my efforts. So, once again - a good day was had by LOveWerks, and, I'm now relaxing - awaiting my evening insulin, so that I can eat dinner. Things are running a little late, due to my wife-to-be's meeting.

Hell, it's leftovers, anyway. :vroam:

May everyone have a great hump-day evening. LW

I won't get political either. But let me say thanks for voting, even if you voted opposite of my ideological leanings. If you voted with them, then double thanks.:p Seriously, nothing bugs me more than people that complain about elected officials but don't vote.

I'm not voting. Then again I'm not complaining or taking sides.

I did my early voting on Sunday afternoon. I've always carried multiple forms of photo ID anyway(driver's license, concealed weapon's permit, etc), so getting in was no problem and I'm happy to show it.

Nevada voting machines have 3 languages to choose from. English, Spanish, and Tagalog. I forgot how different conversational Tagalog is from formal Tagalog and struggled a bit with the instructions, but I had a fun time and got through it. It's been almost 4 years since I returned from the Philippines and I need to brush up before I forget the language.

I've never seen an elephant fly. :/
Only seen a horse fly and a house fly.

I've seen a Dragon fly.

Good afternoon, fellow rantmeisters... my wife-to-be is playing Texas Hold 'Em on Pogo (!), and I'm posting here. I've been thinking about sfbb's last post about dragons flying... hmmm... LSD in the form of Windowpane, 1978... I didn't see any flying dragons, but, I witnessed enough weirdness to never drop acid again... here's a message to anyone here who is young, and feeling bulletproof - stay away from any controlled substance that could affect your future, and be happy with yourself - regardless of what life can bring. May everyone's day be peaceful - LW
