Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

I have some new coworkers of late as well. We also have a break room. We all have set lunches (an hour) between 11:30am and 1:30pm meaning some go 11:30-12:30, other's 12-1, I go 12:30-1:30. Well He's an 11:30 and INSISTS on eating at his desk a short 24 inches away from me. I have dropped some passive aggressive hints, and still I have to smell his food daily. Is it so inconvenient to eat in a place made for eating?

I worked in a room with 8 guys, and one of them insisted that he eat his crawdads/shrimp/stink bait?? at his desk...
we got that fixed right away, he did not take our hints, so we used the drop box to management complaining about the ugly smells during our lunch hour "inside our office".....

seems someone from upstairs dropped in one time to just have a friendly chat with us all, never said a thing....
but, the next day, that foul smell did not occur :)

One of my co-workers had to start eating his salmon outside after everyone complained numerous times...

My rant this evening is paying out the nose for mediocre steak and overcooked vegetables. Dngrswife was happy with her fish, and the potato at least was cooked properly, but still...

The thing is, we do have a decent beef industry out here; and there is a restaurant in my town that never disappoints. There is one in the nearby city that also has damn good steaks, and I'm paying less than $24 for these.

It offends me that I end up paying $30 or more per plate for food that, while presented a bit more prettily, is equivalent to that I get from a food truck for $7.

I have made sure to avoid that place like the plague, thank you very much...

And for the record, Sizzler makes a decent steak, but even better steak soup. I don't buy steaks there, just the salad bar.

However, each store is different, so you gotta know which one has an awesome salad bar and what days they have the steak soup.

got caught there 10 years ago, ended up in bankruptcy.
only reason I have a home of my own now, is an 18 wheeler semi decided to T-bone me on my motorcycle one day, and my lawyers got me enough to pay off a new home in cash.... it is all mine, just have to pay the taxes and utilities.

I don't think their puny little insurance policy was anywhere close to the injuries I suffered in this hit. It caused me to take early retirement.

found out that all trucking companies carry the same exact policy. $1,000,000 and every one of them has the same exact phrasing: This policy will only come into effect AFTER all other insurance sources have been exhausted.

well, there were 3 trucking companies involved in my accident, and they all fought each other for 3 years before they decided that each of them have to pay 1/3rd....
and doncha know, I had to pay their lawyer fees???? how in the hell is that fair?
Wow.. Looks like you were able to finish your coffee waiting on the EMS! I'm only joking a bit because I was in a similar situation 2 yrs ago with a USPS mail truck and definitely lost that fight, still walking on a broken femur (literally). Waiting on federal court to finish the case.. They are SOOO at fault! I hope to come out on top as best I can. I'm only 37 & my construction career is over as well.
The grind: now I make less $$ on disability & even pay more for my meds. ..BS
Moral of the story kids; life sucks, then you die.
Or.. Make sure you're wearing your helmet and moto jacket and you'll have a much better chance of survival. [emoji13][emoji92]

I work in an office environment, in a room with 4 other people (5 if they repace the person they just fired last week). One of my coworkers seems determined to turn our work area into another break room & management is apparently letting him. We have an actual break room directly under us, it's down about 10 stairs, & nobody in our area has any physical issues that makes it difficult for them to go down there.

Months ago he brought a tiny refrigerator in & put it in his cubicle, he's made it available to 2 of the people in our area. Now he's also brought in a small microwave & it's out in the main part of the room.

I really don't get it. We've already had electrical issues since moving to this part of the building, because it's cold & a few of us use space heaters, but he just keeps bringing in more appliances. [emoji57]
Tell him that an electrician (me, I'm case ur wondering) told you he is being ignorant, negligent & dangerous. Ever have a "brown out"? If I remember correctly, it's when your equipment/electronics don't have enough power to run things properly and overstresses the components.. causing a strange burn up. That's not counting the surges from when the micro & heater cuts on/off. Careful! Or the company will be replacing PC's.. and accessories

A brown-out is a situation where the power drops below standard voltage levels (110-120vac, usually 115-118vac).

This can have strange effects on some electronic and electromechanical systems.

Back in the olden-times, when a hard-drive was a two-person lift item (literally 97 pounds), a brown-out almost guaranteed a head-crash.

They aren't the most popular phones, either. People buy what the carrier offers.

If it's high priced like a TOL Samsung, HTC, LG you will see a complaint or a help question.

If it's an Alcatel or a Blu, I don't even think they have a forum. The Vulcan is the only one I know with an Alcatel flip. Those users usually aren't even aware of these fora.

I had exactly 3 people here that posted for Oppo.

what grinds my gears is that the other day coming home from work there was a accident on the Freeway , I see a cop passing me thinking he's going to help them out........ but NO the A** Hole drives right by the accident and keeps on going ...... WTF

Not so much a grind, as a thing I saw today:

Driving home, I have the cruise control set on 67 in a 65 zone...

I observe two things, a black SUV flips on big red lights across the top in the opposite lanes and makes a u-turn and comes my way.

Hmmm? I'm not fast enough to worry about and neither is the F-150 following me, but getting closer to me... he is fast enough I notice the decreasing distance, but not enough that "I think" that he is pushing it all that hard.

blue lights come on and the F-150 hits the berm...

Note to Self: stick with the rules, your insurance policy will thank you.

Maybe the doughnut shop that was running their 2 for 1 sale, was closing soon.

my rant right now is, writing up a whole 'how to fix it' post, and then rereading the title to discover "all of that has been covered" and they still have trouble....

duh syndrome.

There needs to be 2 lines available everywhere. One for people that know what they want, where they are going, what they are doing and have it all planned out ready to go. And then one for the ignorant masses. (This would be helpful on roads and highways too.) Helping out the Mrs. last night had to grab a small honey baked ham, hit the liquor store and grab a couple of things from the grocery store. I started these errands at 5:15 did not finish until 6:40 and all 3 places were within 3 blocks of my house. I swear the holidays happen and people loose their minds. 45 minutes of that time was at honey baked waiting on the walking brain dead to decide what they wanted. I mean come on people, turkey or ham, bone in or boneless. NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.

One small bright spot, it was a sea of iPhone users and during my 45 minute wait at honey baked I heard 3 of them say "I gotta let you go my phone is gonna die". I checked my 2 year old N6 and I had 43% battery left after 12+ hours off charge and 2+ hrs of screen time. ;) Poor apple sheep.
