Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

People who intentionally misspell words to look "kewl". Its not cool or hip. You look illiterate. Please remember your spelling lessons in school.

The people I work with... especially today!

EDIT - I don't mean on here... I clearly mean the people at the job that pay me for a living!

Women who SMACK GUM... ! Disgusting!

Oh and people who chew with their mouths open.

Yuck o rama

This one drives me cravy. I have no idea how people grow up without someone getting onto them about this. It is just plain disgusting.

I've walked out in the middle of business dinners because of it.

And slurping! If it's too hot to eat the soup or drink your coffee or tea (or whatever) put it down and wait or add an ice cube. And don't pick your teeth at the table. Gross.

I thought that I'd better explain myself, as I know you're a sensitive character :)

Okay, I will admit I haven't read every single post in this thread so if make repeats...so sorry :)

Things that grind my gears:

People who assume that because I have an accent that makes me dumb. (wait, it's actually kinda fun messing with them when they do this)

I am nerdy geek and make no apologies for it. I am a lover of the Doctor and enjoy watching him on the tv show Doctor Who. His name is not Dr. Who. Please don't do that. Please?

I know that people get tired of others nitpicking on grammar, but seriously anyway is never ever plural. A lot is never one word. Never.

People that are rude for no real reason other than they think their knowledge gives them the right. Actually it doesn't. There are certain forums within the AF that are great...my phone's forum, the LG Connect, is great. Everyone is so nice and helpful and only very rarely does someone say something out of line. I have been in other forums around here though that if you even asked a question someone was just as likely to bite your head off. I don't like that and I'm not like that....except when I see someone picking on an innocent person and then I just jump down their throats and usually get in trouble. I revisited a forum about a month ago and someone posted an innocent statement. He got jumped by several members and I jumped them right back. Only to then find a private message from a mod. lol. That's okay he was really nice about it and he apologized for their behavior..which you can't really do. You can only apologize for your own behavior. I mean if you deserve to have your a$$ handed to you then just take it, but for making a simple statement or asking a question there is no reason for that crap. We are adults and he was not some snotty nerdy guy on the chess team and those weren't the popular guys on the football team. Yet that's exactly what they were acting like. Not cool and not necessary.

That is what grinds my gears

Oh and brain cancer and chemotherapy. I'm pretty dang sick of that already. I would think by now they would come up with a different treatment than poison that wiped our immune system out that we need to fight this fother mucker.

Anna, wow...

I didn't know you had an accent:D

Regarding folks bullying, let the mods deal with that. Just hit the report button. If you want, put what you wanted to retort in the report. I guarantee we will be on it.;)

The last part, oh my. My prayer. I have been deeply touched by cancer in my life, my thoughts are with you. Hit me up with a PM if you want to vent.:)

Another peeve....

People who drive slow in the fast lane!
I drive fast, I choose to knowing the consequences. If you drive slow that's great .... but get out of my lane will ya.
Just move your little hands to the right and MOVE!

As you can tell,I am on my home from work.... Lol

Hey Anna.... ditto, all of it.

I can't stand how difficult it is becoming to get a quality-made-in-America product. Leatherman, and BOB strollers are the only two I have been able to get my hands on lately. Even my Carhartts are hecho in Indonesia or something.

I really REALLY get annoyed by people who think their children can do no wrong. Honey, your child can and will break the rules. It's nature .... it's going to happen.

Oh, and one more... then I'm done promise.

Your child is not the "est" anything.
Not the cutest, smartest, fastest, brightest, funniest, or any other "est" it there. Please please please.... stop already!

To the first - yes yes yes. And the more you try to tell me how much your child is an angel the more I know its the spawn of the devil.

My son's all that and more. But to me.;)

100% yes - as should all parents think.

My child is the "est" in my world also.

My new rant is people telling me how i should discipline my kids.. Look your kid just kicked another and sprawled out on the floor screaming because you said No. Ten minutes later he will repeat that process. My daughter does it. I tell her no if she does it again she gets a pop on her butt. More often than not it works. Telling me im messing with her psyche because of a pop could really mess with your health.

End rant. :banghead:

Yup.... I'm old school though. P'Lin disciplines. And let me say, I have not had- nor will ever have a problem with my children. (Oldest is 21). That is his dept totally.

A lot of our stuff is "Made in America." I sewed it myself. BUT -- I have no idea where the FABRIC or the notions came from. I'm not sure how many mills are left anymore. Your car may have been assembled in the US - but the parts come from who-knows-where.

I believe in discipline also - I also believe in getting a child interested in everything.
We did astronomy, science experiments, went on nature walks where we LOOKED at everything. She was taught to make change and count money back early - she read before even starting school. One teaching tool for math was BlackJack. We had a little card shark on our hands at times.

Upset the school at times - apparently we weren't supposed to identify a specific bird or plant, or let her look through our telescope. It wasn't the way things were supposed to be taught.

That's sad. My father took me on hikes and I think he knew the name of most of the trees, plants and animals in the area. He knew the constellations and could navigate by the sun and moon. He passed a lot of that on. Since I see nothing wrong with that knowledge, I passed it on, too.

I don't think too many kids get this opportunity any more.

Raw materials rarely come from the USA now, but a lot of finishing work and assembly is done here, I agree. But there is relatively little manufacturing here compared to the past. I hear there has been a slight up-swing lately, so I'll keep my fingers crossed and continue to buy Amish furniture.
