Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

People who ask me " what are you".....

I'm not a dog, or a device, or a "what" for that matter.
I am a mother, daughter, wife, employee, woman, child of God......


but surely not a "What"

It happens so find a new group. That is what I do.

What I hate are the list Queens and Kings. Those fools that every new bee turns to for help. Those fools that know NOTHING but BS and bad info. Those people the new folks listen to rather than listening the new member who happens to be an expert.

You dare not tell the King or Queen he or she is wrong because the new bees will jump to their defense.

I recall a "professional editor" who said never worry about writer's guidelines. If you have a good idea that cannot wait, pitch it to the editor when he or she is at lunch and more relaxed.

This is how you never sell to a busy editor.

Very odd thing, this inter web net thing.
 
Who cares? It's none of their business. The only thing that should matter is if you are a nice person or not. From your posts - you sound like your are your own person and interesting. That is worthy of anyone's respect.

We are all human and all in this together.
 
Everyone always worrying about what everyone else is doing. We should just all live in peace on the entire planet. Worry about things that effect you personally.
 
My rant is that my school provides VMWare Workstation for students. A great virtualization program. Maybe even the best. But our keys are good for 1 year. Well, my year is up tomorrow. So I go to enter my key for this year and it isn't working. Key is 'invalid'. Not sure if someone keygening got it first or if VMware only allows one student license per install. Either way, I'm bummed.

My Virtualbox install is FUBAR'd 100%. I have zero interaction with the GUI. And the VMWare player (free) that I have is out of date and just an all around pain to use.

Yeah, 1st world problems but whatever.
 
What grinds my gears? Well to say what we down here call "hood rats" which is black wannabe gangsters that thinks it's just so cool to wear pants/shorts below your a$$, attempting to rap when in reality they just sound like a complete imbusil. :)

And now you may think I'm a racist for "bashing" on the black man you say?

No I've got many black friends, these kind of people just give the hard working black men a bad name. :)

Don't think your racist at all. It is a unappealing lifestyle to want to emulate. I am black (ok ok and half white ) And the only thing I dislike more than them..... is a white idiot acting like the aforementioned "hood rat".

I think the problem lies in the fact that the so-called media mobsters who promote these "values" in the first place.

If it wasn't thought of as being cool, the kids wouldn't bee don't it in the first place...

I've watched them lose their britches. They can't DO anything but walk around slowly.
No sports, no anything. I worked in an ice rink and you should see the saggers try to skate! A pickup football or basketball game might be good for a laugh. They might be able to play baseball, but they'd have to grab trow to head for first base after a hit!
 
My friends forgetting that my family (meaning the over 60 folks) like their dinner early.... think 5:30 or 6 and asking at 6:30 if I want to go to dinner. Why can nothing ever be planned beforehand???!!!
 
What really gets me is people speeding in construction zones. Seriously, driving 70-80mph for the 3 miles in the Work Zone won't save you but a few seconds on your trip.

Watching a highway worker die because someone had to have a starbucks latte before work is a tragedy.

Everyone is in such a hurry to go nowhere.

Edit: I do use Linux. I built my own distro, but got too lazy to maintain it. >_> So back to source based!
 
I like how much linux love there is in this thread.

I guess my rant is people who don't realize that a company that makes your OS is just that, a company. It's not like apple likes you more than microsoft. Came across a lot of MS hate on failbook the other day, I just wanted to say "ahahahah you're *not* using a free OS?!?! :rofl:"

But I'm kinda nice sometimes. So I bit my tongue. But seriously, there was that ubuntu script that would basically add all the 'eyecandy' that mac folks love so much to ubuntu. Not that it works with unity, but eh. You can't win at everything.

Secondary rant. When I decide to read reddit comments around people who then look at me like I'm crazy. >.> ;)
 
It's not that I hate one company vs the next (Except Apple these days,) It's just that Windows for me is too much of a resource hog, and I didn't like the windows 8 UI. My computer doesn't have the best stats in the world, and linux just works.

Also my rant for the day:

Mornings suck.
 
I do use Ubuntu on the desktop. As an OS - it works well, but if you have a problem, watch out. Most of the answers in a search seem to be dated pre 2010 which doesn't help with the newer distros.

Took me forever to find out that the Canon Lido scanner just doesn't work with Ubuntu. I bought an Epson scanner only and it worked out of the box.

(I won't use an all in one)

PS - there are some serious fanboys on the open side. I've seen vicious arguments over Gimp and Photoshop.

I know what you mean. I saw a cabbie hit and kill an older woman a few weeks back who worked at my hospital. It only made me wonder where he was speeding off to that he thought if he hit the gas a little harder, he would've been there sooner.

Note to self: NYC is overcrowded. You aren't going anywhere speeding down these streets, so don't fool yourself into thinking you might shave 5 minutes off of travel time.
