Root [Release] Android 2.2 Froyo for the Droid X

This happened to me when I had my original droid1 with launcher pro backed up in titanium back and then restored that to my X. It was scary but the restore to factory defaults fixed it. It was funny because it wouldn't work, but it WOULD wake the screen up so I knew it was working, just not functioning correctly if you know what I mean.

You have to put that pst_flash.ini that came with the download you got in the motorola rsd lite directory in the program files files folder.

I am on 2.1 rooted with the updated bootstrapper that should work with 2.2. If I am planning on using Rom Manager to get me to rooted 2.2, do I still need to move "su" to /system/xbin or will Rom Manager take care of that for me?

I have the updated bootstrap, rom manager, and the droidx_rooted_froyo.zip from clockworkmod. Can anyone give me the step by step instructions for this method to upgrade. It seems there are multiple paths to Froyo, but it is confuzing to a newbie like me. Do I simply run bootstrap and boot into revory and run the install.zip? Do I run Rom manager from the phone? Thanks, I am a little confused and would rather ask now than regret later.
 
Great! Got my Froyo up and running thanks to everyone here :)

Originally I was rooted, with Koush's apk, themes, and removed apps. But I used Fabolous's theme remover to remove themes, restored the apps, and started up recovery mode only to get the error. Followed the instructions in the OP to fix the logwrapper, then all was good.

I have also noticed the settings/battery manager error mentioned above. I guess its no big deal, but I hope it gets fixed soon. :) I'm loving the 270 degree rotation and flash. And moving a bunch of stuff to my sd card. And chrome to phone :)
 
ok so if I have bootstrap recovery 1.0.0.3 and koush's "droidx_rooted_froyo" I dont need to do all the steps of moving su and renaming the logwrapper right? or do I still have to do all that before I run that zip file in his recovery?
 
Can anyone still running .604 with an unedited build.prop run this for me, and upload the file?
adb pull /system/build.prop build.prop

I really do need it, and I'll be forever greatful if you could.
 
Ok, I successfully upgraded to 2.2! I see new speech to text options filtering out explicit language.. guess I need to turn THAT off.

Changeing from portrait to landscape seems a bit slower on 2.2.

Now that I have 2.2, can I root it using the app that fab posted this am?

I tried some flash video and that worked fine. Speakerphone volume IS louder. (We have two Dx phones here, so we did a side by side comparison.)
 
OK so I noticed that my computer no longer recognizes my X. At first it tried to install drivers but failed. Now it doesn't recognize it at all. Do I just install the same drivers I had previously?
 
ok Im tryin to install koush's 2.2 through bootstrap... lets hope I know what the hell I'm doing..... its at "patching system files" right now

IT WORKED! running rooted 2.2 now!

In root Explorer go to /system long press on 'build.prop' scroll down, and click on 'Open in Text Editor' and and it is in the upper section of the '# ADDITIONAL_BUILD_PROPERTIES' at the bottom and just change the 4 'false' to 'true'.


These were the ONLY stagefright lines I found.

why do you want to move a bunch of stuff to the sd card? We have 8gb of internal storage that nothing but apps use (its a big waste of space IMO) it would take you years to fill it up with apps. Some phones don't have much internal storage and thats a great feature for those people but for the DX it's not necessary and will fill up your sd card while leaving you with 8 gigs of unused internal storage.

That's what I found also, stagefright is the "New media framework (Stagefright) that supports local file playback and HTTP progressive streaming."

I really have no clue what the difference is, and I didn't run quadrant before, but I did make it up to 2204 at one point... But I have no idea how to run the program so those numbers may just be kind of wacky.

Does this sign "$" in cmd mean I lost root?

If so, Is is safe to run one click root again? also, do we have to have the the stock apps we uninstalled, installed? if so, should I download the SBF?

I didnt say I was going to.... Just that its nice to have the option. Stuff like my gameloft games and NFS shift take up a ton of space.
