Root [Revised] Rooting Gingerbread 2.3.5 Dummies Guide

o.k..bear with me, as it has been a while since I used that recovery....I'm trying to find some screen shots of that recovery screen to jog my memory :p
And I'm at work being very NON-productive:) but this is fun...no worries:)

I'm gonna fire up my old Evo, and install Amon Ra recovery and see where it is.
This rom you are trying to flash....do you have a link for it or did you find it in the list that is stickied?

FYI, for my evoG, to get into bootloader menu, I have to hold volume UP and press power. Was pressing volume DOWN as directed in the first post of this thread, and had a heck of a time wondering what I was doing wrong... Maybe that will help someone else. :)

Thanks again ocnbrze and mikestony for your help in the other thread and also for this guide!

weird.....my og evo is still power+vol down. you sure you are holding the phone the right way and not upside down?:p:D:p:D

Say what? lemme try that again:)

Edit: yup...I shut my phone off, then hold volume up and power....then bootloader screen. (the fastboot screen to be exact...where the word "fastboot" is in red)

Then power off again, volume down/power....then into bootloader. But this time with the blue text "Hboot" .
wierd huh?

Edit yet again: what hboot are you on? Maybe that has something to do with it.

Actually, you're right. :) I could'a sworn it didnt' work before but I get exactly the same thing as you. Vol down/power works fine...will edit my post.

I ended up flashing Reloaded .500, but installed applications before installing a2sd.

In this thread -
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...cks-reloaded-500-philo-rls-4.html#post5252242

Mikestony give the following:

In the op of the rom, post 2(?) you will see 2 different downloads for DTa2sd.
Pick one, I use the beta version myself.
Download it and transfer to your sd card.
Flash from recovery.
Wipe cache and dalvik then flash.
then reboot.
It should move your apps to the sd ext. upon reboot.
If not, go into Terminal Emulator and enter this commmand.

a2sd reinstall

Presto! apps to sd done!
Double check in TB

Do if flash a2sd from recovery, THEN
wipe cache and delvik, THEN RE-FLASH a2sd again?
Thanks.
