i used it once and i do not recall it bootlooping on me so i was lucky. but that makes complete sense though. not sure why i did not make that connection before....LOL

Hi, I have talked to a few people and attempted to follow several people's instructions to root my brand new phone. Now, this phone is one I purchased on ebay and I don't have any warranty issues or anything of that nature.
Just to show you how little I know, I don't even know how to download stuff to my desktop computer to later use them on the new phone. When I have followed two other people's instructions, and they are pretty specific, I haven't ever got past, "this is what you do"! The lingo is also something I am not familiar with mostly! Out of sheer frustration (this type of frustration makes me feel awful, so I gave up) not a very nice quality to have but that is what it is. I thanked the folks who attempted to help me and told them I was just in way over my head. Basically, told everyone I give up! Not a nice quality either. It's just that I have a humongous amount of pressure on me trying to make certain my son is ok. Or as good as can be expected since his father ran out on us without warning. Coupled with paying the bills on an income way too small, I just gave up! Question is, why am I telling you all this? I supposed it couldn't hurt to try again and hoped, possibly, you had a bit more time to spend with me... If not, that's ok! Just say so and I won't bother you again!
See, my future ex use to handle all those issues in the past. I am not into the programming part of computers, just a casual user! It may be that I should just forget it all together, but saw your post on rooting and I thought, just maybe, you had the time to help!
I have a refurbished htc incredible and I haven't even turned it on since receiving it! My husband has our Verizon account hostage since the day he left, he found out before I did that if you assign yourself as the owner, no one else can do squat about it. I would love to get a new account or changed carriers but I don't have the money!
Honestly, if I seem too needy, let me know and I promise to not bother you again!
Either way, thanks:(

just to be safe......you now have an og evo 4g? or which phone do you wish to root, if not?

Hi. I am new to the forum, but have been looking at the forum for a few weeks now, trying to decide if I want to root my phone. Last night, I disabled a stock app and it sent my phone into a bootloop. I had to reset my phone. So now, I am finally ready to root my evo 4g.
I am trying to download the items from the list, but when I do, it says that the download has been interrupted and won't finish it (it just tries to redownload it). Can anyone help me with this?

Welcome!!!
I didn't know you could disable a stock app on an unrooted evo? But that's another discussion:p
Anyhow, which file or files are you having an issue with?

The only 2 files I have tried so far are the adb.exe and the htc sync file. It does the same thing on both of them, just says they are interrupted and when I click resume, it restarts and does the same thing over and over.

As far as the disabling, I just went into the manage applications and selected the stocks app (the one that caused the issue). There is a disable button there to remove it from the apps window. It doesn't remove it from the phone, just so I don't see it all the time.

Hmm...gotcha...it's been a while since my Evo was stock so I don't recall. :)
But anyways, let me try to contact the op and see if there is an issue with his file hosting site.
I assume you are downloading these files to your computer? I know that may be a dumb question but just have to ask:)
Do you have issues with other downloads? (not from this site)?

Yes, I am downloading to my computer. I haven't noticed any troubles with other downloads, but to be honest, I haven't tried to download anything for a while. However, when I went to the htc site and tried downloading sync from there, it did the same thing. I am almost thinking it has something to do with my computer, but I don't know what exactly. Maybe a setting issue?

odd, have you tried to restart your computer?

Do I need to have the phone connected in order to download these?
No, not necessary at this time:)

I typed in adb push tacoroot.sh /data/local/ and got
adb server is out of date. killing...
*daemon started successfully*

Is this normal?

ok then the taco root command did not work. is the phone bootlooping or after entering the taco root command did it reboot?

After I did the --setup, it went to recovery, so I did the volume up/down and power to reboot it. Then, after --root, it just rebooted.
