Root [Revised] Rooting Gingerbread 2.3.5 Dummies Guide

it still wont let me
As in, you tried both .zips? And you got the same error?
What software version do you have?
I know you said you have version 2.3.5 software but that is Android software version....
What is (cant think of the word) your other version.?

Edit:system software....that's the word

No RX. He needs to use the 5.07 version. It is the one that the captain made to use with the latest version. Not sure why it is saying older version though.

Maybe the old pc36img file is still on the card?

I'd personally try the fastboot method

1.download amon ra 2.3
2.extract the file and then go into and move recovery.img file into the android folder you created when unlocking your bootloader.
3.on your phone after you have unlocked your phone you should be in the bootloader menu screen, select the fastboot option
4.on your computer press and hold shift while right clicking the android folder.
5.select open command window here option (windows 7)
6.enter command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
congrats!!!!!! you have just installed amon ra 2.3

hmmm, good point...his bootloader may have picked up the first, wrong .zip...but then again, he would have gotten some kind of other error after renaming the correct .zip and trying to transfer that to sd card if one was already on there.
Unless he said yes to "keep both copies"...

@imd34...perhaps delete both pc36img zips, download/rename the correct .zip for your version and try again?

how would i do that
how can i get it and delete it

o.k..plug your phone into your computer, mount as disk drive, find 1 or 2 pc36img files and delete them off of sd card.
Download, if you have to again, the correct .zip for your 5.0.xxx version
Rename it again, transfer to sd card like you did before....
Now you should have 1 file named PC36IMG.zip on your sd card.
Unmount phone..unplug phone
then power off blah blah blah, you know what to do.....:)
