Root [Revised] Rooting Gingerbread 2.3.5 Dummies Guide

Yes..I know what you proble are thinking (What a freaking moron here..How could a newbie be so dee dee dee at times)...I hope I get this thing right.

Thats no problem now (you may need it later) because the 3 files you need to put into your Android folder (which you will create on your desktop) are in the guide....
On the htc website, it wants you to install the sdk to get those files.
But ocn has conveneintly posted those files already...follow?
These 3 files should be put in your android folder

adb.exe
fastboot.exe
AdbWinApi.dll

Edit: just saw your edit...nice :)

Ok...It has the token start and token end how do I set that up..is it what at the sample or something different. Also the unlocked_code.bin how do I set that up aswell

Example: Identifier Token Start fastboot oem get_identifier_token Identifier token end

Sorry for been a pain in the rear.

You're not a pain, I just like helping!
What step in the htcdev method are you on?
Your token will appear in the command window when you get to that point.
The token that appears on the htcdev website is an example.
 
Ok..I got the sdk running and its asking me to download the platform and tools..Which I am getting and error saying access denied..If someone has the .zip files I can DL and use them, That be great..On the other hand I haven't got to the part on ID token.

Crap Nvm I got it to bypass..Sorry.

you only need three files and they are in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...-rooting-gingerbread-2-3-5-dummies-guide.html.

you need adb.exe, fastboot.exe and the adbwinapi.dll those files are in the guide. sdk tool kit is kind of confusing for some. just get those files and go from there. follow the guide here.

did you put your android folder on your desktop?
If its on your desk top, like mine is, you can open a command window one of 2 ways.
Place your mouse pointer over the Android folder, hold down shift and then right click....then the options you have..one of which is "open command window here"
This is what mine looks like when I do that.

C:\Users\Mike\Desktop\Android>

The other way is to go to start, to run a command window and type the path to your android folder
