Root [ROM][ALPHA] Triumph CM9 v0.6.17.0 [FINAL]

I couldn't resist giving the new build a try. Here comes the noob issue, I got wifi set up initially, but after reboot I can't get it back up, it keeps causing the phone to reboot, any help would be great. Also, when restoring apps through titanium is there any way to not have to keep hitting "install" and "done" for each app during the batch?

becuase its causing the audio level to go past the max. its called "clipping" sounds like distortion.

youll do better to leave the bass where it is, and drop the trebles a bit.

also, what are you using, headphones or phone speaker. the phone speaker can only handle pushing the treble up, any bass boost will distort it a bit.

some headphones cant deal with a clipped signal. if you try to drive the speakers that far they distort.

its all basic stuff, the point being, dont do it, or get better headphones that can handle it

I've tried it with 3 different head phones and it's still the same deal. What kind of headphones should I look for?

Don't know about your wifi problem, but you have to buy titanium backup pro to do batch restores without conformations

I use studio monitors but if your getting it with all the headphones, i would just NOT use the bass boost, and just drop some trebs or mids instead. same effect, less clipping on the audio signal as a whole.

compression will help too.

I think once Whyzor ok's the latest changes that he made to wakelocks, we can pull them all in at once.

I don't think CM9 needs the wakelock fixes I implemented for CM7. TG's Wifi wakelocks are working as intended right now, the events wakelock seem to not conflict with each other in the limited time I've tested with the ROM. I did notice the Bluetooth gets powered on and stays on even when it's turned off in settings, so that may be something worth looking into eventually. (CM9 has little msm7x30 board support right now).

CPU Spy, BetterBatteryStats and 'cat /proc/wakelocks' are still the tools to use to diagnose any wakelock problems if they do occur.

Get some skullcandy's. They have good bass and can handle that without distorting the song to badly. Believe me I have a pair of skullcandy 50/50s and when I boot bass boost all the way up, the equalizer on bass booster and play a song it still sounds nice.

I do too... No dice.

Well then maybe don't have bass boost on or don't have the volume up all the way. Have tried lowering the volume? And if you haven't lower it a bit and see if it still distorts it. I don't have problems, but I also don't have my volume up all the way.

yeah when it's max with bass boost, it distorts.

hmm the screen input isn't nearly as good on cm9 vs cm7. sure theres not the "big kernal lock" issue?

So just at max? Any other volume is fine? Or what?
Yeah at slight boost 2 (minus) from the max (volume) it sounds good
at moderate 2 more and it sounds better (at this point to it's too quiet to be listening to in a public setting.)
and and extreme 1 less and it sounds good

My friend has a good equalizer for his GSII and it sounds hella nice at max vol.

The BKL issue is different than wakelocks, that's to optimize the kernel more, there probably is still a lot of inefficiencies in CM9 at this point (benchmarks confirm this). I noticed CM9 was more sluggish than CM7 even before the BKL changes in the CM7 kernel. HW acceleration may not be fully enabled in CM9 yet. Keep in mind this ROM is still in alpha stage. I'll apply the BKL kernel updates eventually after it proves stable on CM7 (bugs are hard to track down for this particular set of changes, so need to give it more time).

of course, but i was just asking to see if they had been implemented because of the noticeable difference

My MT4GS also has a nice equalizer, but that's not the point lol. Hmm well I guess you may just not have to use bass boost. (although for me in a public setting like half the volume is good for me, so it sounds like its a problem with not enough sound being outputted.) This may be an issue with cm9 or the MT in general...

I mean I guess half is good, but I don't want to be hearing other people talking tbh.

Lol, I know what you mean. I personally haven't used my MT for music (since its hella better on the MT4GS), but I may do some tests with ICS compared to CM7, at least on mine which may or not differ from yours. i know for one thing my MT when it was on stock the volume at the lowest setting was too loud, but from other roms it seems to be fine, so I will see if there is any distortion, or any volume changes between cm7 and cm9.

Alright. I noticed in CM7 the hearing threshold didn't start 'till about the 3rd volume tick and there's a huge jump of sound from like 12-13-14-15

I hear a difference between all of them. And for me full volume on cm7 is to much for me to handle. I can do more with a speaker plugged into my headphone tomorrow though.
