Root [ROM][ALPHA] Triumph CM9 v0.6.17.0 [FINAL]

Does that ROM have a bug tracker ? Wouldn't it be better if devs wouldn't have to wade through a ton of end user posts about bugs just to talk with another dev?

Oddly, my google calendar is not able to sync on the account. (check your settings??).

I realize this is alpha. I was able to live with it until I noticed no calendar sync. back to Miui until we progress i guess.

Awesome job devs!!

I just checked a realized my calender isn't syncing either... WTH. It was on earlier versions. The option isn't there????

I'll try to reflash and see if that helps

Damn... no luck. Don't really want to wipe and than reload all my apps. Any ideas???

I've noticed issues with this Rom seem to be user specific, it only affects certain people, by chance. I've had texting issues while flashing 2 different releases, nothing helped fix the issue, some others had the same issue, others had different issues, and others had no issues whatsoever. I don't know why this happens but I don't plan on flashing again until most issues are worked out, I suggest the same to you. And I suggest you buy Titanium Backup Pro, reloading apps w/ their data are a breeze.

The fact that it seems user specific implies a non-ROM issue. Using Titanium Backup and restoring data often causes issues when done between different ROMs. That might be the issue. It could also be an app issue which is not the ROMs fault (but rather the apps).

I definitely recommend a fresh flash followed by installing your apps from the market (not a backup). Yes it can be a pain to set up, but it prevents issues caused by backups from a different ROM.

That breeze may also be blowing in some of the bugs ;) You can make NANDROID backups of your stable ROM in recovery mode, then factory reset & flash to ICS alpha, do one-time setup of apps & settings on ICS, then make a NANDROID backup of it before restoring back. Next time a new ICS build comes out, just restore the ICS NANDroid backup, wipe cache (not factory reset), & flash new build, it'll keep your settings & run on newer code with less problems.

The issues I've had all took place after flashing the rom, full fresh flash, no TBP restores when the issues were present, clean SD card, wiped cache, wiped dalvik, full data wipe. I believe it's a Rom issue coming up randomly for certain users, a bug within the Rom coming up during certain flashes. Me not being the only one having the issues and others having different issues while following the correct steps shows it's a Rom issue showing up on certain occasions. I thank you guys for the tips but I know how to flash Roms correctly, the issues I've had are Rom issues.

Well, if it is an issue in the ROM, everyone would be able to replicate it if they follow the same steps. :) A ROM issue wouldn't happen here and there for only a select group of people unless there was some sort of difference or some sort of network issue specific to certain areas. If everyone flashes the same software the same way, the results will be the same. ;)

If you can replicate the issue and share the steps to do so, then we can replicate it. If it can't be replicated it is most likely a network or app issue (or something happened differently during the flash). It could also be some sort of setting change that is different from one person to another. There are many other things that can cause it besides the ROM itself (even though that gets blamed most often). :(

I am not saying that you don't know how to flash a ROM. And I am not trying to be a jerk, but if it can't be replicated it is something besides the ROM. :)

If this is the case, something must've went wrong with the flash during 2 different releases and a reflash for both releases I flashed. Something didn't go wrong with the flash 4 times for this specific Rom by coincidence. Never had issues with any other Rom I've flashed on this phone until this one, following the same steps I always follow.

Can you give us steps to be able to replicate the issue? If there is something in the ROM, it needs to be able to be reproduced to fix it. If so, it would be a ROM issue, if not I would suspect something else is the cause.

Like I said, not saying you don't know how to flash ROMs. The issue behind these sorts of things can be quite complex. Alogcats and steps to reproduce the issue are helpful to diagnose what's really going on behind the scenes.

Some other obscure causes of problems can include:

1. corrupted download (md5sum check is needed)
3. Defective or unreliable hardware leading to memory errors, made worse by undervolting or overclocking.
3. Incomplete cache wipes (Some older OV CWM recoveries had this problem, AFAIK the MT doesn't have this problem, but everyone uses different CWM recovery versions too).

I had sms issues for a bit on my phone running CM9 (a similar issue happened a few weeks ago on my wife's OV) both times "fixing permissions" in CWM fixed it. It was an issue on my end, not the ROM and I know I did things correctly.

I have had an issue with the sms app (the stock one) acting weird and shutting down immediately after opening it. A reboot fixes it, and I haven't had time to get a logcat or anything of it happening.

Just pointing out that issues can happen that are not necessarily caused by the ROM, even though I followed the correct procedures.

I'm pretty new to the Adroid scene but have been flashing since TG's CM7 started releasing and no problems. I didn't use Titanium Back-up because I do know there can have issues going from rom to rom. Later I will do a complete wipe and reflash 0.6.5 with the gapps. The gapps at the beginning of this thread I assume are the most current is that correct??? After that we'll see if I screwed something up or if it happens again. It's all fun and games... right?

Yes that is the most recent, and yes it's all fun and games. :D

Exactly. If you check the Sync option. it doesn't exist on there. It's not killing me or anything but I use the calendar extensively with my wife. So I had to table it for now and go back to the 2.3.7 Miui until it gets re-added.

Note: I did not reflash and try again because I was on my way to an appt. So if someone else has this issue and does reflash, can you let us know the outcome?

thanks in advance,

The option in Accounts & sync?

I second this. It's looking like if they haven't, they might quit soon for people who don't know how to read the top post. I've noticed it's turning into a chat forum, and would like to say something to then about it, but that would just make me a hypocrite. Lol

Sorry El Presidente. If I start an ICS Chit chat thread will you sticky it. It seems most of them just don't know where to post non Dev related topics.
